- We have just taken delivery of our new Campervan! We sold our fantastic Nugget Plus earlier this year, but why? What van have we got now? Watch this episode to see the new van and the reasons we have gone for it! We hope you like it!

I’ve never commented on TH-cam before but I absolutely loved this, and when you went to trial it, and the polish possibility… I can’t wait for some more camper 5 material as we’re looking to get one… having been looking for something with fixed bunks and a nice double for sometime… and I’m quite tall so have narrowed it down to pretty much this…! Thanks again. Please keep the camper 5 content coming… I almost sold the Mrs on this video..! 😂❤

This is so cool…tonight we are in Bergen, Norway 🇳🇴, tucked away in a city centre car park…I’m in the lounge replying to you, Jo in bed reading above me in the drop down bed and the kids behind the curtain in the rear bedroom…with the kettle on in the kitchen! it’s working really well for us 👍. Just got home from Turkey after 35 days and 6000km with a Nugget I bought also after watching your videos, I guess you will miss the agility of the Nugget but I'm sure this is a good compromise with the needs of your daughters. Looking forward for your new adventures!
Wow! A proper adventure in your Nugget! Glad we played a part in your decision to buy one! Yes, it’s always a compromise and I will miss the way the Ford Nugget drives…it’s very refined. In fact, the whole Nugget package is refined. We are getting used to our new van and are away now in Sweden heading to Norway. So, it’s a good test for the new one! Congrats on your Nugget 👍

One more, thought..( hey more comments, more you tube spreads the videos right.).. yes that is one very cool, RV van.. yes it has a awning, but they have, nice... Inflatable, screen rooms now... With roll down curtens...how cool if the girls want to sleep outside, in a screened in room, also. It would be a bug free second kitchen...just a thought....and double your camping room. They roll up, easy peaze. Magnetic, attachment to the side of the RV van... Great pick.... Don't forget the build up dates... .( Add the wind turbine s, on the roof or, lake side, edge....free electricity....🎉

It's true that it is not as agile as the Nugget, but I think it's just a matter of getting the hang of it!

Congratulations on the new van. I saw this exact van and another by Dreamer at the NEC caravan show in oct 2019! We seriously considered this! I did wonder if this might be your solution. As you say v few on the market for 5! I dont think the bathroom had the sliding hidden bit back in 2019. They've tweaked it I reckon! Definitely longevity in this for a growing family of 5. Like you I would not want a MH. It will be a bit harder to park but only 1m konger and you get such a lot more camper in the 1m! I think over on mainland europe particularly parking it wont be an issue! Excellent choice and I look forward to seeing the full tour and videos of your trips. Ive seen some photos on Instagram!
Happy travels in your new van. I considered buying the Dreamer FamilyVan but was put off by that rear facing jump seat (no availability and dealer apathy apart). I thought it a real pain to put back under the top bunk bed and have it taking so much space. A much better way would be a double front passenger seat but converters don’t seem interested by that solution.
And what gives dealers the right to put the biggest sticker possible on customers vans!? Mine came straight off.
Anyway, looking at all the pros and cons, I think you went for the most sensible option for a family of five without going over 100k €.
Good to see a 5 person van! Intrigued about that air conditioner. Sitting in Portugal right now...vans really need them! What is yours? Looks flush and good. Hope works well for you guys
Congrats, it’s not easy to find a five seated camper, I know. Is this Camper Five with 3500 kg chassi or do you have the maxi? If you have the 3500 kg, do you get under 3500 fully loaded?
It’s not easy, you’re right. The kerb weight of our new van is about 2700kg. Rapido (Dreamer) did a good job with maximizing the payload capability. With 5 up, loaded up, bikes on, some water in the tanks etc, we are getting close but I don’t think we are adding 800kg. However, I would like to weigh it 🧐👍
I think they have zero chance to be below 3500 once all 5 onboard. Neighbor here, same van, no A/C, maxi chassis, with trailer hitch 3400 with just the driver.... It is a wonderful van. but it is heavy.
@@CaliCamperFamily if you don't mind me asking, how did you manage to reduce the kerb weight. I absolutely love this van, the layout is exactly what we've been searching for but would want to add a few features like an auto gearbox, an oven, awning and bike rack. There are only 4 of us so have no need for the 5th seat but worry we would be on the verge of being over the 3500kgs 😬 Thanks.
Honest question, how do you manage not being overloaded with five persons and a van like this? We’re a family of four and we are looking for an upgrade to our California. But all the vans which accommodate at least four people don’t have much payload …

Just one question about the fifth seat, does it have only a 2 points belt? How would you feel placing a child seat there..?

Wow, your trip sounds absolutely amazing! Inspirational stuff 👍. We are really enjoying the sights and landscapes of Norway 🇳🇴 at the moment 😃. As regards your question, it depends on the child seat and the age of the baby. I used to (incorrectly) install a rearward facing baby seat on a rearward facing seat in our VW California (hence, our youngest was then traveling forwards)…this, apparently is not correct. I am happy using a booster seat on this new 5th seat, but I don’t think a baby seat would go as you usually need either the shoulder strap or isofix…neither of which this seat has. However, there are 4 forward facing seats with normal seat belts to choose from. Thanks for watching and I hope that helps!

Might look good superficially But when it starts falling apart two or three years Breaks down multiple times because it's a bit then Not so good
What a great find for your family.. all the girls have cumffe seat. And beds for five..with a dry bath, wow wow... Just my two cents... The AC unit is higher..
They have... Highth seniors, before you hit something lower.. also, a thought.. a install, camera, on the top of the AC unit...so as you drive or pull in dad, can see in real time...100% the van will clear. The 4 bike, double stack looks great.. just a thought,. A Y strap, coming up from the hitch.. up over all four bikes. And clipped on to a D rings, you install up top side. Pulling the bikes, a little snug, so no bouncing, or hurting the computers on the E bikes. ..
Hi! Thanks for your thoughtful comment and great ideas. We are really happy with the 2 bike racks, it took a lot of measuring and planning to get the right kit. The dealer fitted the door mounted rack for us and we bought the matching Thule tow bar rack which folds up and we can store it in the boot. The only downside is that we can’t open the back doors as, although it tilts, the clamp is too high for the door to swing out. So far both racks have been perfect, no wobbles! 👍

Congratulations on your new purchase, I wish you many problem-free kilometers and spectacular trips! It seems that this camper offers everything you need, the only major drawback being the design of that extra seat, more of a compromise than a solution. From this point of view Agility would have been a better choice, but not for that huge price difference. I can't wait to see your next adventure, greetings from Romania!
If I were them, I would replace the front passenger seat with a double one, so I would have 5 forward-facing seats comfortably. Maybe the swivel function is lost, although I've seen a Ducato that had a double seat swivel, so I'm pretty sure there is such a solution.

With the Nugget, we easily make it 4 days without recharging. Very curious to know how long you guys can go without power with this one. Let us know in one of your following videos.

The van is great and fantastic value. It looks really spacious and I think the sleeping arrangement is better that the last van you looked at, much more room than the three bunks. I love our van but I now have fridge envy. How lucky were you to get it into the courtyard? I can’t wait to see where it takes you this summer. Have a wonderful time.

Nice camper, it looks like a manual from the interior shots, will that be more difficult than the previous camper which was an auto?
Hi! Thanks for watching and commenting! Yes we would have preferred an auto but the dealer had already ordered this van with manual and if we made a new order it would have had to wait another year! Also it was a additional option of roughly €2500. It’s a compromise but we don’t mind, so far we find it very comfortable to drive and it has cruise control so it munches the miles! 😎

Great that you showed how big the beds are by actually, lying on them (shock/horror!) which so many videos just don't demonstrate. The van looks absolutely ideal for you, as did the Polish one, great to have a choice given your spec and need to sleep 5; so my wife and I very much look forward to your next installment/review. It really is great for 5, yesterday is Sweden we had a relaxing day where we all spent time in the van together and everyone was comfortable as there is so much space! 👍

It will be interesting to see how your chosen campervan turns out. In a similar situation, we opted for a caravan and changed our travel habits. We'd go to a region, find a comfortable campsite there and explore the area by car or bike. The campsite is a place where the kids can have fun with others in complete freedom. It's a plus.
That way everyone can travel comfortably and safely in the car and sleep comfortably at night in the caravan, is her/his own bed. Unfortunately, the family campervan or motorhome is a category that really only exists with strong restrictions.

Biggest issue here in the UK is that Nuggets were sold via the Ford Dealer network, who had no idea what they were selling, so also did not know how to store them leading to issues with leisure batteries being allowed to discharge etc, most Ford dealers appear now to be withdrawing and therefore we no longer have adequate warranty support, in fact it is non-existent. Our Nugget Plus is on a PCP so it will be interesting to see what happens at the end of the 3 year term if we decide to hand it back to Ford rather than make the final payment and become the owners, what will Ford do with these s/h RHD Nuggets which they cannot support, maybe ship to central Europe? Great videos btw ...

Yes we also loved the Affinity but it was a lot more expensive and the bunk beds were smaller so we thought the girls might feel too squashed. It is a lovely van though. So far we are very happy with the Dreamer! 👍

The girls are switching seats all the time depending on the activities they’re doing and all of the seats are really comfortable! The best seat is by the window as you can sit with your legs up and look out! 😍

Fantastic van. We’ve also made the decision to get a bigger van as we get older and our daughter grows. How did you end up in Italy? I assume it’s work related? Do the kids speak both languages? Would love to have given our daughter that opportunity 😊

One question, what is the height when the dropdown bed is out ( bed till roof) Can an adult sit straight in bed?
A good question. No is the short answer, we can’t sit up straight in bed. We do lie there with our heads propped up with a pillow and read with ease! It’s not ideal, but good enough for us…😃👍
