Watching you mount the Yaggi, the clamps might need a rubber gasket to protect the fibreglass mast. Also, it'll be nice if they had a cap that would fit the small end of the mast. (top end)

I have the same Yagi......its very nice for taking out because of how it will fold up. Glad to know it will fit a mast as small as 3/4 inch.

Just received my order. Very impressed. I cannot put antennas on the roof but this will make a good semi-permenant solution. I plan on putting a 2m/70cm yagi on it. It's the 7m version but considering the quality and rigidity of these poles I'm thinking of buying the 10m and 12m poles too to suspend wire from.

I have a couple of these masts. I bought the longer ones and slid the top two sections into each other making it even more rigid. Works great.

I also slid the 3/4th into the 1” on mine and it seems a bit more ridged and safe at high distance. But I had to sacrifice 7 feet vs safety. Using 1908HD

Excellent video very informative I am thinking of get one of these as they seem very useful.
Just to add I think wide velcro straps would be better as they can be tightened more easily.

You know, I was just wondering if this mast would be suitable for the basic diamond yagi's. Thanks :).

Just opened my MFJ-1906H and it was cracked at the top of several of the sections. I was shocked after reading the reviews.

yes it looked sturdy enough the video however you never extended it. my concerns would be will it still be sturdy once extended ???

I just got a 1908 and didn’t use the 3/4top end. It just didn’t look or feel sturdy enough when up high. The 1” with guy wires is holding steady my antenna steady for now.

@@DjSmoothNY Which antenna are you using with it? I’m looking for masts for the MFJ 10m Moxon, needs to be up about 15 feet.

Since fiberglass is not a conductor I assume a ground cable would need to be run from a grounding rod up to the antenna? I have always used metal poles grounded at the bottom.

Roy these are flexible and the method is to run a wire up its length. 73 Peter

I have now got the mfj 1906h the longer version mast.
My question is about what about earthing of the antenna.

Alan, just ordered the 1906H, how do you find it?? I am going to use a 75 ft long end fed (inverted L configuration). Just wondering what to expect. Neil M0CJM

Perhaps a strange question, but would it be especially cumbersome to remove the sections from one another and store them that way rather than in the assembled and collapsed configuration? The individual sections are 4 feet in length, correct? That is about the maximum length I could fit in the back of my car.

As it passed some time I have a question for you. Is it safe to use metal jaws on fiberglass? How does it work over a longer period? Shouldn't be better to use some flat clamps that spread tension over a greater surface instead of something that bites into a composite structure?

    • @watersstanton
      @watersstanton  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Not sure what you mean by jaws but the only clamps I would use are hose clamps but don't over tighten. Peter.
