Great in depth review. Definitely interested in picking this up one day. One question, what should I set my mic levels at on my camera to guarantee the cleanest audio when using this for audio?
Hi Ben. Thanks for the feedback. I’d start off by setting your camera preamp as low as it will go. In the unlikely event that you can’t get enough gain from the Beachtek, you could then start raising your camera’s input gain, but I very much doubt that would be necessary. It’s more likely that you’ll actually need to trim the gain down on the Beachtek to get a safe audio input level. This depends of course on how loud your sound source is and what the output level is on your mic, but certainly for things like voice sources, recorded with shotgun or pencil type mics, you’re more likely to have to trim the gain down on the Beachtek. Hope that helps. Take care!
Thank you. Nice and clear explanation. Now to put it to the test.
Thank you so much!!
