    The more you beat on it the more wrinkly it gets , the way I was taught on shrink metal was to heat a area , slap hammer the metal inward and quickly cool it with a wet sponge . Roofs and hoods are the hardest , looks good to me , a work truck gets beat up after some time anyway no matter how you try not to . 👍🇨🇦

    It is such a privilege to be able to watch a true craftsman at work. One of my nephews is a true body man as you are, most think a body man's work is easy, a little bondo and paint and your done. The kid ( he's 48 don't know how he got that old I'm not) is able, like you to make parts from sheet metal etc. I know there's more to it than that just a true craft and art. So much more can be said just not enough pages to say it. You either know or you don't. To many actual crafts being lost in this world, thank you for giving us an insight to your world and craft, maybe help inspire others like my nephew ( he caught the bug young) to take up this kind of work, unlike when I was a kid there are very few if any to learn from. ❤
    didn't mean to ramble and praise to much just saying something I think needed to be said.
    You and Buckin are an inspiration to us all.😊

    The cab is looking good! Maybe hit it with a bit of short strand fiberglass filler to smoth it out a bit (?) It's stronger and sticks better than plastic filler. I like your Oxy-Propane setup 👌

    Thanks for sharing...
    I have seen a lot of guys around my area use the spray on bed liner all the way around the bottom foot or so of their work trucks to protect metal/paint from tire flipped rock chips. I believe they add the paint in to the spray on liner. Do you think this would actually slow rust or are they trapping moisture between the spray on and metal?? My truck beds dont seem to rust from the spray on bedlining.
    Anyhow...If the roof metal is notorious about pin hole rust and leaks on these old Fords. Maybe the spray on lining would stick better then filler on a cab roof? It would definitely hide inperfections and might help from low branches scratching the cab top in the bush also?!?! Just thinking outloud again...👍

    • @WildWestGarage
      @WildWestGarage  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@waynetharp I’m not a fan of that stuff, especially in a situation like this were it would be going over old seems that have rust that I can’t get at to clean. I’ve seen where the rust has run under Bedliner and created a big mess. The roofs on these trucks rust from the inside out. I’ll be cavity spraying everything after it’s painted. I’m not worried about imperfections on this project, it’s going to be a masterpiece of imperfection. This cab is 48 years old and I’m pretty sure it will last at least another 48 after I’m done with it.

      @WildWestGarage Thanks for the info and experiences.I had always wondered and questioned the long term when seeing guys using it...Maybe if Ford hadn't been so stingy with the paint at the factory, these cabs would have lasted even longer.
