- George Benson showed and played his new Ibanez LGB300-VYS at the Namm 2012. He was so kind to let some guitarplayers in the audience play the guitar! We filmed the full 19 minute presentation. Enjoy!
This man is a treasure. Please, everyone, take a good look at one of the greatest and most profound artistic inspirations in the last hundred years. There are so many enlightened people who "get" his impact all over the world. And they're much, much better for it.
George Benson is one of those guys you would like to spend an afternoon just chatting about everything... so down-to-earth and such a good story teller.
I saw George the other day at the Guitar Center, he was playing Stairway To Heaven.
You lucky duck!!🦆
Yeah me too. I’m the sultan of Brunei btw.
George Benson is jazz royalty to the max!!!
I had the honor to play an hang with GB for one week in the early 70's, he taught me all about his life, his childhood, development, enduring my endless barrage of questions, he said he could always hear and sing articulately since he was a kid and sang note for note charlie parker's solo of just friends as it played on a jukebox. he played my old 175 for a set and you know what? it sounded exactly like him!
We can see when someone is a Master...He will step back and let others shine.
i only want GB!
I had the wonderful opportuninty to meet Mr. Benson and he personally autographed my GB 10, He is one of the nicest human beings to every meet.
I've been listening to this guy for 40+ years. He's such a unique and immensely talented player. Truly one of the most musical guitarists I've ever heard. I would love to hang out with him, even for a few minutes. The stories this guy must have.
I got Ibanez artcore i had it about 12 years
I once saw George play at Chicago Blues fest yrs ago . He played with some old time greats. Jimmy Smith on Hammond B-3 and David "Fathead" Newman on sax . It was one of the best things I ever heard . He didn't play any of his hits they just played an amazing variety of blues with a little jazz blended in. For me it was historic.
A man humble with a big hearth calling on everyone to give his guitar a try... I love this.
George Benson is a living guitar legend. Class act!!
+realityme I saw him and Earl on their collaboration tour in Detroit years ago. Real class!
It doesn't matter what guitar George plays, he always sounds great.
How gracious and nice he is to these other players when he knows he could smash them all he's a true class act
George Benson, how gracious you are for letting some people from the audience play. A sign of a great artist, happy to hear other peeple show their talent.
I used to see him walking around where we lived In pgh, pa when I was a child with an acoustic guitar in his hands and we would ask him to sing a song for us, and he would.
Now this was before he made it to the big time....humble then, humble now.
Ronald, Oh man! Thank you for that story.
That’s AWESOME!
F. nupm
compared to the others, I think there's a great deal of patience and discipline in his playing, almost restricted. It's like he's trying to put the music first and his ability second. beautiful.
Kewle C .....YES, YES, YES!!!!....#daughterofaguitarplayer
Well stated!🎉
He's not only a jazz master but a human master!!! Amazing!!!
"Legend in the house!" SALUTE! GB got me thru college. Doing homework and listening to George!
...so I'm watching the video and I think that's my homie Jerome Ali who was the first check it out. George Benson is a great guitarist and an even greater person. Blessings...
Detroit legend.....Jerome Ali
I absolutely adore and love George Benson , I heard him in Kolon, Germany , bought his album , constantly played his album for my ,military friends , his music is magical ! !
My favorite non-family photo of all time was taken with George backstage at a concert of his. What a gentleman and a genius guitar player. I hope to see George again if we can get past Covid and bring back concerts in full force.
He is just the coolest, nicest and seemingly genuine guy. I love listening to him play and talk too.
I just love how humble and approachable a person he is he adjusted the amp and guitar for his guest and complimented them on their talent which was great. I don't think I could touch a guitar in mr bensons presence
I know what you mean about not touching a guitar in his presence. I wouldn't dare, because I love him so much!
And we're intrigued by you, Mr. Benson! A fantastic guitar player.
Sir George Benson.The Legend,the Player,the Man.
Thank you so much for your musik!
Thanks for sharing George Benson's presentation with us. All I could say was "Wow!" I've always admired his playing. George Benson is one of the greatest ever!!!
Nice to see how humble George is .. He can easily put on a clinic for the likes of Eddie Van Halen, and yet he says, he respects everyone that plays guitar .. George Benson FTW!
Love George Benson - a great musician and a classy human being!
Very well spoken, and a musical genius and incredible guitarist.
George would be the first to tell you that Wes was a king with the thumb!!!!! That was Wes's style. George learned to do the same thing in his own way. I remember when he taught me that when it came to playing with a pick it's all in the right hand. I had to tell him though that I was lefty playing righty. I did not have the same coordination in my right hand. George said just relax and let it happen! Don't force it! It will come. It did finally come. Performing live with George was a gas!
Amazing!
So this is NAMM. They're surrounded by top notch equipment and experts, and this is the best sound they could get? I bet most people trying to hear GB speak couldn't. Very interesting talk, GB is great!
Played one yesterday in a guitar shop, unbelievable. Serious GAS for this guitar.
Mr. George Benson master craft of being a jazz guitar player. Legend!
So inspireing to hear how George loves all the guitar players, pure love for the music.
George, you have done a great service in your guitar designs for Ibanez, I have the LGB30, it's best sounding and playing guitar that I've ever played, I've owned a lot of guitars, this LGB30s Alinco magnet pickups have that vintage sound I love, you have done guitar players like me a great service too, in that you have designed a great affordable guitar that plays and sounds professionally, thank you for your service.
George Benson has always been my absolute favorite. How cool. Damn he makes me want to get one.
Benson is pure class. Always wanted to meet him. He came to town bout 10 years ago and I missed it.
Mr. Benson showed his humility. A truly down to earth man. He is a great inspiration to many with his guitar skills and techniques.
fantastic and compelling speaker and storyteller.
I've always wanted to sit right in front of Benson and watch him play.
Exactly one year later. Just catching this. Awesome! Reminds me of the day I tried a Ibanez Benson at Guitar Center. I fell completely in love with it! I would have got into trouble if I had that money and it was for a bill. Was a definite buy!
What a wonderful and gracious person
George, you are unbelievable. Glad to be living at the same time, than him being around.
Such a magnanimous gentleman.....beautiful human being!
Long live Mr. Benson. You have inspired my life even when I wasn't a guitarist at the time. And now that I am, your spirit lives on in me and for that I am grateful.
Great to see the master at work! Absolutely love this guy
Weekend in L.A., a masterpiece from a master of the jazz guitar.
So many have made everlasting statements on those 6 strings stretched along a rosewood fretboard. Wes, Charlie B, Charlie C, Kenny, Grant, and a few others immediately come to mind. Some, only their music remains. Others, their music and their legacy have slipped deep into anonymity; their music only recollected when their names are called. Then there is that handful, of aficionados living and dead, whose music and artistic contributions have transcended the pantheons of jazz's greatest collaborations, improvisational expressions, and lifetime accomplishments. Mr. Benson is of that latter ilk. His music legendary, his style smoothly immutable, his craftsmanship insurmountable. Like he said in Broadway, during that weekend in L.A., "...I can play this here guitar..." Generations of listeners' appreciation of that fact will be made the much better for it.👑🎸🎵
I snuck into one of his shows back in the early 80s in Boston. Changed my life. Always hope I can meet him and give him the admission $.
I love to hear Mr. Benson play, and talk. He talks as polished as his guitar playing sounds! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Absolutely amazing...did u see him smile when he was doing the 1st demo (6:55)...his expression was one of complete happiness...goddamn assassin...
Charles Hess ...LOVE this comment! (And Yeah, I saw it😉) #alegend✊🏾
The young Guitarists who don't know him should really listen to his music they could learn so so much .
"Don't ever say what you can't do." Sage advise from a Master.
George is 100% authentic and generous to a fault. You can't fake that.
I have followed GB since 1974 !
BLUESGUITAROCKER me too
George, still getting his groove on!😂❤
I would shit my pants if I was playing jazz in front of George Benson. Such an astounding man, and he will always be a legend guitar player. Reinhardt, Christian, Montgomery, Benson.
That first sentence is one of the greatest things I've ever seen on TH-cam, ha!! And very very true!
this guy is cool. He s still so interested in learning from others like eager to learn still. I am impressed
If there ever was a testament to his greatness it must be George Benson setting up a practice amp for his fans
Thanks for this upload. I have this guitar - it’s just beautiful to look at, so well built and the neck is amazing. George is an inspirational player and a real icon for jazz and blues guitarists. I’ve never seen him live but this June he will be playing in Leeds so I bought tickets and can’t wait. I bought mine 2nd hand on eBay for a decent discount but still v pricey for me, however, I’m so pleased I bought it. I’ll never sell it. I’d like a GB10 now in natural then I can die happy!
Yet another man my children will know of.
Khalil Mason ....✊🏾
George Benson sold an L5 guitar that belonged to Wes Montgomery at an auction and it was bough by Pat Metheny. WoW incredible stories!!!!
big props to anyone who gets up straight after George to lay a bit!
George - what a nice guy! I would love to meet him some day.
I saw him play at Bournemouth UK a month ago. Just wonderful.
Cool guy.
I never would've thought Ibanez could make a decent hollow body, but after playing their bottom dollar AF55 I was sold. Found a great deal on a used AF75 and it quickly became one of my favorite guitars in the collection. Even the stock pickups are awesome. I'll admit I changed out the nut and pots though, but it plays and sounds like a true jazz/blues box.
I know this is a sales pitch but I love to listen to George talk
ViSiONx2 if
Gear is a great actor and sales person. It is areal pleasure to watch him him.
Who could play with Benson looking over your shoulder?....still my favourite guitarist!
Norman Brown played an Ibanez GB-10 on his debut CD.
What a very cool dude Benson is!
The Legend of Contemporary Jazz. 👍🏼😊
the intro was worth the price of the video!
One finger wow God bless Georges Benson
Thanks for your help that make play better.
I am glad that I had the opportunity to see many of the great jazz guitarist starting with Kenny Burrell , Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Grant Green, Al Dimeola, Larry Carlton, Larry Coryell, and Geogre. There are others but these guys I saw in person. George's music is little more accessible because he sings too. Peace.
"As you can see I'm an experimenter and I'm not afraid." (9:27)
George Benson
well deserved signature guitar keep on jamming George..
Nice guitar. Genius from "the hill". Great to see you....
Would love your guitar George your the man love you so much. The guys that played your guitar sounded great and the comment he said the neck is fast sold me! Love small necks yeeeeessssss
George benson is a humble legend. What a cool man
Hey!...Thanks for filming this!...Now we want you to attend ALL the NAMM shows...and do it some more!...(smile!)...Yeah!!... : )
Quando George Benson era criança, seu pai, cortou a tampa de um baú em formato de guitarra, colocou as cordas, e deu de presente pro menino Benson>>>>, Sergio From Brasil.
master, legend and super cool guy, amazing to hear him, he plays like and angle, clean as a glass....
the King always gets to wear purple velvet. Hail to the King.
George Benson... Like no other!
Love George benson, total class in every way.😀
What an articulate karizmatic big brother.. one of my all time idols ..
an artist through and through
This man is insanely cool on both guitars and jackets
I'm sure if he was a rapper he would be even MORE into himself. But as it stands, being the master guitarist that he is, and the talented vocalist that he is, he is actually quite humbled.
GB's playing is deeper than the ocean.
wow, I am so thankful to this demo where my jazz idol mr george benson (..the down-to-earth legend..) Is young as ever in his dialogues with valuable information & in a jovial manner, groovy thumb sweep/pluck unique technique was so soothing & inspiring as always..height of modesty when he frankly mentioned that he learns from everybody & that he picked up something new from one of the three guitarists whom he invited to try on this new gear..lotta things to learn from this great person other th
yeah george is the best! just havin a good time
To add,in the 70's we used an Ibanez front trio in the band "Arc" which mainly played Ted Nugent,Bad Company etc..i noticed the action was excellent for a guitar in the 100-200 dollar range, and sometimes less.wacksmans pawn on Vine has one here right now for 100 Dollars, its well worth the play,i'll give it a try also..thanks George..
The famous BB King once said "if your killin it all the time, people stop listening"
I would love to see both George Benson AND Robert Conti perform live together(and maybe throw in a little Lee Ritenour on the side)!
très bonne guitare , le son est très feutre , merci Georges Benson je le remercie pour ses leçons de jazz
What a great, great player he was. Remember "I have nev.. Ver.. Been so much... In love.... What a difference.. True love made in my life" just awesome...
I dont know if i've would have dared to go up to that stage and play!!
We have to move society back to genuine music craft again. People like GEORGE BENSON are a God-Send!! Manufactured music has dulled the senses of most people to real musicality and mastery. There’s very little appreciation or even knowledge of what these legends have done within the world of music. George Benson, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Dennis Chambers, etc, have to be reproduced before it’s too late.
I wouldlove if Mr Benson would write a book about. The names and people who influence him! Just to know that history! Would be so special!
