Such a cool performance! I played Palladio and some other Karl Jenkins music in marching band in college. I love it! Engineering and art are perfect together!
Hi! We love to hear that educators are sharing our work with their students! We'd love to hear more - if you get a second could you shoot us an email at contact@beautyandthebolt.com? We want to send your students some stickers :)
I saw your post on Pantsuit Nation. This is incredible on many levels- story (piercing my heart with sadness), resilience, persistence, ingenuity, musicianship, performance. I'll be sharing this with my students tomorrow. Thank you for sharing.

Yeah you can see them poking out in some shots - these coils get pretty loud. Everyone else in the room had to be wearing full over-ear hearing protection too
Where did the sparks dissapear into? They should be looking for a grounding, right? Are there something like thin grounding net installed above the coils?
Wow, this was a astonishing, absolutely awesome piece of electrifying music! I'm "only" male but I'm proud to be the first thumb-up for this video (as far as my YT showed me...). :-D Many greetings from South Germany (near Swiss Border)! :-))
They conect an electric violín with some tesla coils the frequency o the bolt produce a sound and at a certain frequency it produces a musical note so when she plays the violín the coil reproduce the sound
@@omargonzalez9520 Thanks. There just seems like there is more depth to this than is obvious in the video. Other than looking wicked cool, did the different generators have different functions, like being in stereo, etc. But there was a thump-thump base in the beginning she didn't seem to be playing, but that doesn't mean she didn't have a switch someplace not obvious. Likewise she was clearly pretty busy playing. So there could have been a machine in the loop to thump. There seemed to be crescendos that weren't the violin, so maybe she laid down some other stuff first like Eyna does. Also it'd just be interesting to know more about the build itself, how far she had to stay away from things to not become part of the circuit, etc.
@@rcs8641 Just like in a real orchestra there is more than one instrument. Xyla's violin was controlling one coil - front left from her perspective. The others were playing other parts of the composition. Big one at rear center played the bass track, for example. That's the thump thump you were hearing. Pretty visible especially at the beginning, 0:40 or so. At 0:46 she plays her first notes and you see the left front coil start sparking.
So music is a frequency and electricity can zap things at a frequency abs basically the violin and the electricity are one which makes this absolutely beautifut
Thanks we really appreciate it! We spent a lot of time getting the coils to sound right and do the song justice haha - Please consider sharing so more people can see what's possible!
Everything is nature vibrates, including electricity which is electromagnetic fields. The electricity vibrates at the frequency of the music which vibrates the air molecules at the same frequency to produce sound waves
can i replace the celestions in my marshall with tesla coils, then? this is outstanding god. the only thing better than science is beautiful girls practicing it. righteous. long may you rock! respect!
The human race is a very, very magical race. We have a magic power of witches and wizards. We're here on this earth to unravel the mystery of this planet. The planet is asking for it. - Yoko Ono
She makes me think of the stargate and the rings resonating with eachother and laser maser BEC matter laser You can see this frog being elevated by a high tesla magnetic coil, and you realize there'd be no inertia, because each of the atoms of the frog are being acted upon individually. As an out there thought. I was just thinking resonance and wamo Xylas on it lo.. Hoping makes lots more videos, that was cool..
Was your electric violin playing recorded at that exact time or added in post? Because i wonder how the pickup would cope with that much static electricity and electric noise around it. Nice to hear it nonetheless (and watch ;)

Beautiful in concept and orchestration - the message that women can control/create energy is SO powerful!
Thanks! Help us share it with as many young women as possible!
I can not wait for the behind the scenes of how this works!!

Awesome imagery to heart-stirring music. Yay for science as art and art as science! :)
Thanks so so much!! Help us out by sharing so we can show the whole world what's possible when they aren't treated like two different things!
Absolutely Beautiful! Incredible - you managed to combine two of my favorite things - Violin Music and tesla coils 💖😎

Okay, this made me cry
Beautiful! But I was seriously waiting for one of the coils to arc to the violins bow.
That would have been fun for everyone... except me.
How did you keep your hair from frizzing out? Applause!

WOWZA! So amazing!
Very cool ! Ozone galore :)
Ohhhh yeah haha - that room smelled like ozone constantly whenever we were filming
That was amazing!! Great job! ⚡️⚡️
An explanation of the build and how this all worked would be very interesting.

Women getting into engineering... Music from 1000's of volts of purple lightning and it doesn't have a million views?!? How... Why?
Totally spacing on what it is, but what is the name of the song?
Palladio, by Karl Jenkins! It's sampled in On The Eve of War and a few other songs I believe too.
