“Because most tabletop characters, at least that I make, parents are dead or they’re an orphan.” It’s interesting to me that many people seem to think, they have less to think about their characters past if they take the orphan trope. Because I think it’s the opposite. For me saying “My character is an orphan” is basically saying “Other people than my biological parents raised me, now let me tell you all about them! And how they made my character who they are right now.” And at least for me, Taliesin did that masterfully with Ashton. He gave us the Greymore orphanage, he gave us the Nobodys and he gave us the Krook House. And I just love Milo, they’re great. Travis did okay-ish with Fjord. We got some stories about how hard growing us in the orphanage was and the got Vandran. But even that was already slim for my taste. Sadly Ashley did fall far behind with Yasha, which is why - while I love Yasha as a character - I never got invested in her story all too much. Of cause everything with Zuala was beautiful, but I wanted more.
I'd say the portal to the bottom of the lake is nothing more exciting than a water supply for whatever ruined city got scooped up in the gobstopper imprisoning Pradathos.

Late to the party, but you can absolutely teach a lizard tricks it just takes time and patience much like cats. There are tegus as well as bearded dragons that come when called and they can be quite cat or dog like. Lastly King Charles are notorious for dying young due to heart issues as well as have poor blood panels. Just be wary~ Sincerely a retired vet tech
There IS an episode of either C3 or Exandria, where Fearn transformed into a fish (the first time!) and swam into a fountain’s source and emerged into the elemental plane of water.
C3 - That was the swamp town they mentioned (can't remember name). Also where BH looked into a telescope to see a city on Ruidis and where they were tasked to test the security of that collector guy (competing against a group of NPCs).
Pretty sure the style Laura is talking about is mori kei. The closest in English would probably be cottage-core, but that is still a very different aestetic.
I was thinking of mori-kei as well! 1:31:15, in case anyone is wondering. But yeah, mori-kei absolutely fits the bill for what she's describing and what her character was wearing. Such a cute and neat style of fashion! ♥
I love how Ashley's mind works. Maybe Predathos isn't a concrete thing, but an idea (atheism?) made manifest or something. Talk about thinking outside the box.
@@boniakarlo"God of atheism"...talk about a contradiction in terms. Weird how religiosity, even unconsciously at time, so fundamentally misunderstands what atheism is and tries to put it in the "belief system" box.
So like a personification of an idea or concept. Like how Eros or Cupid isn’t the god of love but a personification and Thanatos is the Greek personification of death, Predathos might just be the personification of something like atheism or a personification of something like the concept of anarchy or hate of things like masters. But if that’s true I wonder how one would simplify the title for that personification because as mentioned previously atheism isn’t really a religion.
@@persephonethereaper6938 All the exandrian gods are the personifications of either man made concepts, or natural forces. Kord is the physical representation of Storms, War, and Honor. Pelor is the Sun, Justice, and Agriculture. Ioun is Knowledge. The Wildmother is nature. Arathis is civilizations. The same goes for every god, they represent their domains.
I know that she may never see this, but Ashley Johnson is literally my transition goals. Literally one of my role models in terms of strength and character. Thanks for all you do Ashley.
I firmly believe that Ludinus learned about Predathos a long freaking time ago (like pre Calamity at least). He somehow helped or used the early Calamity events to try and get beyond the gate of Ruidus since the Initial attack was during an apogee solstice. After the Hammer in Aeor failed and the city fell, he has been scheming on how to get to Ruidus. He continued his experiments in Molayesmir which started the corruption of the Savalir Wood. After that he decided to ""lay low" and gain influence and power by working his way into the Empire and helping establish the Cerberus assembly. At some point during all of this I believe he learned (or maybe remembered) something pre calamity about Predathos or just a diety in the moon. I go back and forth of whether he just has a God complex or of he truly has personal beef with the RQ. Either way he has been scheming and working towards this solstice. I think between the attempted ascension of The Whispered One and the events of M9 doscovering more on the ruins of Aeor he found more info. I wonder if he maybe just caught the eye of the weave mind during that time and made some sort of deal. I mean he has now had 7 years of being able to export items from Aeor (between prison sentences). The other really crazy thought is that Ludinus was living on the chunk of Exandria that became Ruidus as a memeber of the order that eventually became the weavemind so he has done all of this as revenge and thats also why he has lived so long ( he is using the same magic to extend his life).
i thought it was Liliana being horrified at the deaths of so many cause of Ira's bombs and she was asking if Imogen knew that so many would die, but also did Imogen know they were gonna try and kill her.
I would love for them to visit or even just an intro from matt talking about the Silken Squall and the Silver Silt Palace. Matts descriptions of cities are SO epic.... just describe them like you do.
51:20 I think about the folding halls of Halas. So it would be fun to see them play like an investigation team or something delving into it. Like a miniseries. 51:38 and the shattered teeth! Could we do a mermaid/shattered teeth campaign? Pllleeease
My immediate thoughts for cantrips were also druid craft, prestidigitation, and mending just because they're so practical. But I also think it'd be super interesting to have something like vicious mockery, spare the dying, or minor illusion.
Did the emergence of the Weave Mind coincide with the attempts of Ludinus trying to use previous Solstices? I feel like that's the connection, not the Calamity or creation of Ruidus
That last question 😂 Vax, Caleb and Orym are definitely winning first place. And I think Beau would ensure a second place. Where would we place the rest? Grog, Fjord, Bertrand, Chetney Scanlan, Taryon, Nott/Veth, FCG Percy, Molly/Kingsley, Caduceus
The Rashinna/Lilianna cliffhanger discussion was my favorite for sure because I personally was on Laura’s side at the end of the episode but then as soon as Liam made his first point I had the revelation that Laura had shortly after too and now…. Well I fear I agree with the consensus
I’m putting my theory in the reply so not to spoil things!! I personally thought it was Lilianna screaming “Did She Know?” To Imogen with the She being “Did [Rashinna] know [the recruits and I were here?]” OR She was screaming to all the ruidusborn, specifically ones like Otohan “Did [Imogen] know [I was going to be attacked]” I think what happened is Rashinna and Gaz sieged the place and killed all the recruits first because I think the party mentioned / the Volition is aware of the threat of recruits exalting on the spot- so they “defused the bombs” first. Then Lilianna freaked out and went all Homelander on them since the only people left are dying recruits and the people attacking her so she started doing some AoE stuff. So, personally, before the dive I thought it was pretty much a half win where the volition still weakened the Ruby Vanguard but didn’t get the target- and it’s just Lilianna being upset that she got ambushed and lost her surrogate “Imogens” since I still think Liliana has maternal instincts behind her delusion/trauma/Stockholm-y vibes. So she’s displacing that into the recruits and seeing them die was probably evocative of what she imagines could happen to Imogen if/when they reunite
@@TyrannoLime My thought (so excited to see tonight, eeeee!) is that the Volition bombed the music hall to try and hit Liliana, may have known about the kids in there, maybe not, I can see bombing it without knowing and I can see Rashinna making the cold calculation to hit it with the kids inside for the sake of long-term tactics (per your theory about defusing exaltant bombs). I'm really hoping it was a bomb that they set and left because that'd strengthen the odds of us still having Gaz with us >.> I'm 99% sure that it was Liliana growling "DID SHE KNOW" in reference to Imogen knowing that they were about to bomb the music hall with Liliana in it *but* more importantly with the kids in it (the kids who she did mention to Imogen in their dream talk the night before, the kids who are 100% dead nao). To which the answer is... Imogen knew kinda but not really. The Volition said they were doing an assassination mission, which implies a surgical strike - there was no implication of a scattershot bomb attack that might sweep minors up into the death count. Not that I remember, anyway. The most we heard about mass attack tactics was that Ruidusborn/telepath EMP thing that would 'neutralize' such people for, like, a round while the Volition did their thing. Buuuuut... people have pointed out that Imogen went nuclear and flattened a neighborhood in a situation of dire stress, maybe Liliana did the same during a targeted assassination and became the bomb that wiped out the kids. Possibilities, possibilities! Why isn't it Thursday night yet! XD I wanna know!
Can't imagine picking Mage hand over Prestidigitation.... Imagine all the stuff you need in your house to keep shit clean. Washer, Dryer, Vacuum, Soaps, Dishwasher, Drying rack, sponges etc etc.... Imagine all the hours you put in keeping stuff clean, like laundry, all gone with just a wave of your hand. Saves so much space, so much money... Most of the shit Mage Hand does is basically fixed by walking 2 more steps.
I wonder if the scream Imogen and Fearne heard was Lilliana casting Psychic Scream at the assassination attempt, and indeed Rashina specifically communicating to both Ruidius born in the party asking if Lilliana knew?
H20: just add water was an australian tv show about 3 girls who got turned into mermaids, and when dry they'd be human but if even a droplet of water touched them they'd turn back into mermaids. They also each had a unique water based superpower. It was a huge part of my childhood and I definitely recommend any other mermaid lovers to check it out!
Liam: "Matt doesn't typically like to subvert our expectations... Yea he's pretty safe." Assuming Matt sees this. How long until we see repercussions from this statement?
Splitting the splitting party? Why not. P.S. The way Matt switched between the 2 groups was top notch. It was like having 10 end of episode cliff hangers in one episode, but in a good way since it actually kept going. Honesty, no matter how long the episodes are it never feels like it's enough since there's so much intrigue.
Ladies if you put your glasses on top of your head while they’re still behind your ears you’ll stretch them out like that. Scoop them into your hair like a tiara instead and it can help avoid that stretch.
I know the next episode was streamed but I am still behind. My argument against Rashinna The Golden Hammer wouldve been: "How are we supposed to build a relationship based on trust when we completed your tasks, rescued your people, and even forewarned you against the assassination attempt fully letting you know of its more probable failure. Golden Hammer, with full respect for your status and leadership, you are the one unable to grasp these aspects. We sacrificed our lives for you, were successful on both accounts, and even attempted to save multiple lives, at the very least, try to persuade you to rethink your approach against LILIANA. This is your own doing. And yet here we stand, ready to give the Volition our lives again." Just my own brain thoughts of if Rashinna was the voice in the Ruidus-born's mind palace
I think about the question Liam asked a lot: Who is playing who? I could imagine Ludinus thinking that he's playing the Weavemind and Predathos in telling them that he'll free Predathos and bring them to the blue promise when in reality he really wants to absorb the power of Predathos and become the uber-god himself. (Maybe store the power in Liliana, cause she is (Spoiler E91) the vessel? But I guess even if Ludinus is believing that he's playing Predathos, in reality predathos is too huge/ancient/smart for him. And he's fucked together with all of us.
Matt said a long time ago on 4sd that Ludinus truly thinks he is doing something good and noble. He truly only wants to free Predathos so it can get rid of the gods. So that Exandirans can be free of them. So unless something changed Matt's mind I don't think Ludinus wants to became a god.
I've really come to enjoy the new critical role talk show. It's a really cool thing to not have a central host. They all feel so comfortable talking here. I hope they keep making the show more fun and silly it's a good vibe.
I think in the assassination attempt, something went wrong, and all of the innocent children died, and Liliana was pissed and thought that Imogen was responsible and knew they were gonna kill all the innocent kids. So the “Did she know” was for all the innocents that died. Because of that there’s no turning her back now!
Best cantrip for IRL is prestidigitation, not for the cleaning (as Laura said) but for the ability to flavor things Imagine eating a salad that tastes like candy, or get a glass of water and zip zap zoop it's now your favorite soda (adding carbonation falls under "harmless sensory effect") with none of the sugar and all of the flavor
My little niece (10) and I made her very first ttrpg character in daggerheart it is such a fantastic character creation system. H2O was an Australian mermaid show that is unrelated to Aquamarine as far as I know. The sequel of H2O was Mako Mermaids and lemme tell you those were my love to hate shows growing up. Just pure nonsense but enjoyable as hell.
I was obsessed with H20 when I was kid. Absolutely loved it. Rikki was my favourite character and I had a little bit of a crush on Cariba Heine. Honestly, I loved all those australian teen shows. Dance Academy was also a big one.
that h20 just add water that Ashley was talking about is an australian teen show where these 3 teens who cos of some magic became mermaids when in contact with water they did a sequel series that flipped the concept by having 3 girls be mermaids living on land
laura caught onto my predathos headcannon. predathos is the mother of the gods was something i thought last session. i wonder if predathos is mom and the luxon is dad, or the other way around. the luxon is mom and predathos is dad and like what if the gods split up one parent (luxon) and trapped the other (predathos) because it was mad about what they did to their spouse. its cosmic family drama and nobody can tell me any different.
I feel like Ira could have totally ditched Fearne, Ashton, and FCG, but he didn’t and totally saved Ashton from being held by the big Rylorin and Fearne with the Wall of Force and Dimension Door. It’s kind of nice to know that maybe, just a little bit, he cares.
Yeah, putting some minor effort into helping Ashton while Fearne was with them, interesting point. He did totally bail on Ashton and FCG, once it came down to a situation where he couldn't easily save them. If they'd known Ira had dimension door and had made an escape plan ahead of time, they could have both hopped in the hole, had Fearne close it and pick it up, and had Ira + Fearne dimension door to safety, within a couple rounds so could have been done while the timer was still running. But they didn't have an escape plan ahead of time, and the explosion was much bigger than at least I was expecting, and Matt kind of intentionally started the timer when Sam maybe wasn't expecting it. And Ira acting again to help Fearne specifically - yeah that happened again after Fearne forgot she could wild-shape or fiery teleport out of a small sinkhole. Second time she's gone all helpless when that happened, last time being on sand with a dune worm or something where Orym had to come down and save her on his shield, with Imogen casting Levitate or Telekinesis on it. Or was it Fearne using her ring of telekinesis that time after they got onto Orym's shield? Matt mentioned that was Ira's last lvl5 spell slot, and wasn't a case of just bringing her along for free with a spell he was going to cast to save himself anyway (dimension door).
Dani, if you ever see this, you are loved, and also please ask Matt what it feels like to have a group of characters that are so hopelessly outmatched in their task as the bells
"Did she know?!?!" was referencing whether Imogen knew when she talked with her mother... (and failed to tell Mom anyway). The voice booming was Imogen's mother, upset.

For me saying “My character is an orphan” is basically saying “Other people than my biological parents raised me, now let me tell you all about them! And how they made my character who they are right now.”
And at least for me, Taliesin did that masterfully with Ashton.
Lmao the setup and punchline for the typo joke was stupid good😂
I'd say the portal to the bottom of the lake is nothing more exciting than a water supply for whatever ruined city got scooped up in the gobstopper imprisoning Pradathos.
Ashley: "No, wait, I know where you're going with this!!"
That's good, because even Laura doesn't know where she's going with this.
I am genuinely glad to hear I wasn't the only one hearing Jack Black saying "There, the Crevasse!" everytime Matt mentioned the city

ok, but to un-undead Laudna, maybe they can do the Veth transformation spell, like when they beat Ludinus, they can try and get Caleb's (and Essek's) help to make Laudna not dead again because taking down the cerberus assembly
I am actually curious on the mechanics around hollow ones. True resurrection works on sentient undead so would it restore a hollow one to true life?
That’s what I was thinking too, they could also try a variant of Reincarnation possibly

Late to the party, but you can absolutely teach a lizard tricks it just takes time and patience much like cats.
There are tegus as well as bearded dragons that come when called and they can be quite cat or dog like. I will say though getting a kid a lizard do in depth research especially since they live for about 20 years.
Lastly King Charles are notorious for dying young due to heart issues as well as have poor blood panels.
Just be wary~

Yeah them and pugs, sadly. Though pugs for the breathing. :(
There IS an episode of either C3 or Exandria, where Fearn transformed into a fish (the first time!) and swam into a fountain’s source and emerged into the elemental plane of water.
C3 - That was the swamp town they mentioned (can't remember name). Also where BH looked into a telescope to see a city on Ruidis and where they were tasked to test the security of that collector guy (competing against a group of NPCs).
She was a frog
It delights me to no end how each of these ends up reflecting the personality of whoever hosts that week
I have to admit Bell’s Hells “Wacky Adventures on Rudis” have been my favorite episodes of the Campaign so far.
This intro is everything! Bet it's gonna be a great Shoe!
I love how Ashley's mind works. Maybe Predathos isn't a concrete thing, but an idea (atheism?) made manifest or something. Talk about thinking outside the box.
That's great, actually. The gods eater is the god of atheism, independence and rebellion. Problem is Ludinus is evil AF
@@boniakarlo omg and that's why he would be called god eater, not literally but in a metaphorical sense

I like this!

Imagine being better at just everything (except combat).

I personally thought it was Lilianna screaming “Did She Know?” To Imogen with the She being “Did [Rashinna] know [the recruits and I were here?]” OR
She was screaming to all the ruidusborn, specifically ones like Otohan “Did [Imogen] know [I was going to be attacked]”
I think what happened is Rashinna and Gaz sieged the place and killed all the recruits first because I think the party mentioned / the Volition is aware of the threat of recruits exalting on the spot- so they “defused the bombs” first.
I'm really hoping it was a bomb that they set and left because that'd strengthen the odds of us still having Gaz with us >.>
I'm 99% sure that it was Liliana growling "DID SHE KNOW" in reference to Imogen knowing that they were about to bomb the music hall with Liliana in it *but* more importantly with the kids in it (the kids who she did mention to Imogen in their dream talk the night before, the kids who are 100% dead nao).
I don't know why, but every time I picture Predathos, I picture them as this massive squirrel curled up and sleeping.
Liam: "Matt doesn't typically like to subvert our expectations... Yea he's pretty safe."
Assuming Matt sees this.

I know the next episode was streamed but I am still behind. My argument against Rashinna The Golden Hammer wouldve been:
"How are we supposed to build a relationship based on trust when we completed your tasks, rescued your people, and even forewarned you against the assassination attempt fully letting you know of its more probable failure. And yet here we stand, ready to give the Volition our lives again."
Just my own brain thoughts of if Rashinna was the voice in the Ruidus-born's mind palace
Dani needs a permanent seat on 4sd. Stop hiding her behind the counter
I get the sense that's her choice. I'm sure they would have given her the host seat if she wanted it.
Noooo I like her poppin up like a lil meercat to "ummmmm, actually"
H2O was a pivotol tv show in a millenial mermaid girl's life and I'm so amused that none of y'all have heard of it. It even had a sequel series!
I've really come to enjoy the new critical role talk show. It's a really cool thing to not have a central host. They all feel so comfortable talking here. I hope they keep making the show more fun and silly it's a good vibe.
Laura could get Ronin a Tengu Lizard! It’s the doggy of the lizard world
Win win!
The problem with that is that the lizard would be turned into a living dragon mini for the table. That's what I did with my Bearded Dragon.
I think in the assassination attempt, something went wrong, and all of the innocent children died, and Liliana was pissed and thought that Imogen was responsible and knew they were gonna kill all the innocent kids. So the “Did she know” was for all the innocents that died. Because of that there’s no turning her back now!
Best cantrip for IRL is prestidigitation, not for the cleaning (as Laura said) but for the ability to flavor things
Imagine eating a salad that tastes like candy, or get a glass of water and zip zap zoop it's now your favorite soda (adding carbonation falls under "harmless sensory effect") with none of the sugar and all of the flavor
