Strategy. Always better than powerups out of limitations, gods and visitors from moon. How nostalgic this Naruto feeling.
Strategy is definitely more satisfying from a narrative standpoint but there's only so much of a gap in power strategy can close
When you have to draw a chapter a week for a big manga it’s hard to think of a good strategy. So they went with the meta stuff, spam energy balls and shit. Honestly the tails beast power was a bit strong in early part 2 but it went out of control at the end.
Also the Boruto direction is pretty sad. Cause choosing to continue the kids story meaning a massive disparity in power between the younglings, the new characters and the old heroes that everyone has been followed for decade.
Should have go with the past story line instead. Like the prequel series it wouldn’t be too hard to scale as a Naruto sequel.
If he bring kakashi earlier, asuma would not dead. Kakashi have more experience n high battle iq which can give shikamaru's team more chances to take down akatsuki beast.

Shikamaru was the Einstein of Naruto world. Without a doubt. I would have liked to see shikamaru during Itachi childhood and how they interact he definitely would have had impact on Itachi and him on shikamaru deeply

Kishimoto said that Hidans immortality is tied to his rituals and if he doesn't do them enough, he loses his immortality. So Hidans most definitely is dead by now.

Looking at size of ampule and taking in account that it needs to have both mechanisms to draw and push blood... I don't think there could've been much blood in the first place.
I think he just needs a little blood from his enemy from the link, but uses his own blood for the ring (maybe)

It's the favorite fight. Naruto vs Pain would be at the same level, if it wasn't for the Kyuubi transformation and the Deva path going against it single-handedly, way over the top.
100%. Gotta come back and rewatch this fight every year or two. This one and Jiraiyah v Pain hit different.
Honestly the best fights were always rhe ones that involved strategy and unique uses of a characters abilities. The fights between the Konoha 7 and the Sound Ninja were the best. Neji vs Kidamaru and Shikamaru vs Tayuya were peak. Shino vs Kankuro too was awesome.

Shikamaru was always my favorite character, not long after he was introduced. Went at his own pace, but still did what needed to be done. I can relate to just wanting to watch the clouds all day. Him dealing with his grief after Asuma died, and forming the resolve to get revenge on Hidan was SO thrilling to watch. The main plot didn't even come close to giving that feeling of satisfaction, with the exception of Haku and Zabuza early on.

I like how they call shikamaru the weakness hokage. like while power helps there's a level of general intelligence that's required, and his battlefield strategies are going to be crucial.

Shikamaru is the perfect example of a person with untapped potential. Who finally realizes that he's way more than what he saw himself and becomes a total threat just of his intellect alone.
Shikamaru always knew what he was capable of and he always pulled through when necessary. Wouldn't say he's "untapped potential" just because he doesn't act all abrasive like Naruto. He knows what he's able to do and handle and he achieves it in the most efficient way possible. Won't change the fact he doesn't like troublesome situations.
Hidan terrifies the shit out of me; and this is my favourite anime battle of all time

Tbh I read the manga a long time ago and don't rly remember the deer for some reason. Anyways now that I'm a lot older since then, I realised "Shika" from Shikamaru means "deer" in Japanaese and "Nara" is famous for their deer park. You can feed the deers biscuits there and they always bow before eating. The deers lowkey be aggressive tho
it's times like these everyone should be grateful Shikamaru never went rogue.
Aside from some other glaring issues, I think the biggest shortcoming of Boruto is having cool side characters like this be relevant. The villains in Boruto are so insanely OP that aside from the main 3 or 4 characters, nobody has the slightest chance of accomplishing anything. The fact that shippuden was able to turn what was essentially a training arc into such a well thought out and emotionally impactful storyline is a prime example of the creativity Boruto lacks.
Honestly this fight was a demonstration of how Kishomoto doesn't know how to do side characters. Choji and Ino spent 95% of the fight as NPCs gasping in shock at how the battle was unfolding.
It's the same thing in the meeting Orochimaru arc where Yamato decides who's fit to continue and who stays behind, completely ignoring the fact that he has Sakura, one of the best medics on the planet, RIGHT THERE to diagnose them.
This is what happens to anime when carried on too long.. the next villain always has to be a bit more powerful which means the protagonist has to power up as well until the show is really just gods vs gods

@@XPjonjonafter three years, Ino has apparently added....basic medic jutsu? to her arsenal, which otherwise still consists of the single technique that leaves her near helpless in anything but a success in a 1v1. Choji can now enlarge just his arm, so that's cool I guess.
If Kishomoto knew how to do side characters, Ino would have been harrying the enemy with telepathy and misleading voices to break up their teamwork, using ninja tools to set up area denial while the other two engage head on, etc. Choji should have been using trees as baseball bats and taking advantage of his clothing expanding with him for giant rope or chain strikes.
You know what I find funny how When Hidan got blown to bits his hair somehow was left undamaged make.

There are some good theories out there, but yeah, it’s very mysterious. It’s very likely that Lord Jashin is not real though, just some weird philosophy Hidan made up for himself
I think of it as some clan last resort ritual, like Jashin was no god but the sacrifice necessary to create someone like that must be something else. Just imagine if he was in fact the last "religious" one standing after that 😅

My initial thought with the blood thing was “why would you get blood if you already did a lethal blow and crushed his heart?” But considering who and what the Akatsuki are, never assume you’ve killed them.
This was the fight that solidified Shikamaru being my favorite character

But then I realised Obito could just pull him out of the dimension afterwards.

Defeats two Akatsuki members with intelligent plans. A feat Sasuke did shortly later without intel (Tobi implanted mines and kept Sasuke from immediately deducing DEADara's weakness).
It's a pretty big stretch to say Tobi was defeated. He implanted those mines and that's about it, he didn't take any damage or participate in that fight afterwards
@@boianko Prior to that in order to keep Sasuke from knowing, he told Deidara to not activate the bombs despite knowing Chidori Senbon neutralized them. Which extended the battle giving Deidara alot more opportunities while Sasuke worked to confirm his suspicion. Plus he had to watch out for two opponents. One of whom was seemingly invulnerable to physical attacks, disappeared & could attack at any moment.
Similar situation happened with Kurama. At the Valley he amped Naruto twice when he would have otherwise lost. That's enought to call it 2v1. Then he attacked Sasuke through his cloak.

More irony being it's used to defend Deidara, who was down on the ground beaten then suddenly used a Bijudama level explosion. Instead of calling bs on that, it's used to claim Sasuke should have lost. 😆 On top of that, Sasuke's counter is consistent with his feats unlike Deadara's random stunt & if escaping explosions is such a problem it's also ironic nothing is said of Deidara escaping the entire field of landmines earlier. 😁
@@sasukeiseasilythebestchara2954 The "plot Armor" in this situation isn't Sasuke escaping in and of itself, it's the manner in which he escapes. Within a matter of seconds he summons Manda, controls it with the Sharingan, gets eaten and then reverses the summon just in the nick of time, all the while he is meters away from the epicenter of an explosion several kilometres in radius. And we get to see him do none of that on-page.
As for the idea that C0 is "inconsistent with Deidara's feats" - what? His whole thing has been explosions, many of which are huge, and this is his final gambit suicide attack, of course it's going to be bigger and more powerful.

The Nara clan were hunters before ninjas, and developed their shadow possession jutsus and the like as tools for hunting. Not much about their clan was established beyond that until this episode, but I guess the symbolism goes way deeper than I thought.
