Good to see your review. The wheel pin is the first to go every time. Seeing your videos on the hbx got me to get a fc610. 3s and some Duratrax 6pack wheels made all the difference. Brushless it’s a beast. I put the stock motor back in and just cook it with some Ovanac 1400mah 3s. Still in one piece 4 months later.
Initially, with my 14209, I had a terrible experience. On my first ride, I broke a front shock because it was too close to the ground. However, after fitting 110mm diameter tires, 25mm spacers at the front, and 20mm at the back, along with a fine set of shocks... wow! It turned into an impressively fast car! I'm not sure why, but I've managed to hit myself with it... I've driven it right toward me. Be careful, it's painful!
Thanks for reviewing this one I’m getting my 8 year old nephew into the hobby and I think this will be his first truck…also I’m guessing he’s your son, he has the best laugh 😂
Probably one of the best choices for a first truck! Yup that’s my oldest! He is in most of our videos. He has 2 brothers and a sister too!! 😁 Also I have a coupon code along with the link in the description of this video. 👍 Thanks for watching!!
Great truck, I have one, and amazing value for money. Even better with a brushless upgrade and bigger wheels. Only problem I've had is the shock bottoms stripped their threads so I replaced them with metal ones
love this truck, this is a perfect candidate for a brushless conversion, i used a 3650 motor with a wp10bl60 rtr (hobbywing 10bl60) esc, had to make a plate for the esc to fit on the center chassis brace, wont work with the hbx 2995 body but truck bodies have enough room. I also had the same issue with several of the oil shocks. I used the hsp 1/10 buggy shocks from aliexpress, massive ride height and soaks up big jumps beautifully, the stock oil shocks squat really low and bottoms out everytime. Ive had no broken parts yet other than the faulty shocks, drivetrain is solid and handles 3s no problem, 2s is fun too but 3s gives perfect air control. Great videos as always look forward to seeing your setup in the future 😁

We utilized the coupon code in your description and got it at a great price, thank you! My front shocks keep coming unscrewed as well. Should I just replace the shocks and if so, do you have a recommendation for replacement shocks? Also what weight of oil would you recommend? Love the videos!
Thanks!! I recommend these shocks: www.banggood.com/custlink/KvmybYETAz They already come with a gel type fluid in them and work really well on this truck. Raises the ride height slightly too.
hi great content! you deserve more subscribers! I have a question about diff oil. Do you have a ''standard'' for the front, middle and centre diff about which oil you use? Im new to the hobby but i bought a couple of rc cars and im a bit confused about which diff oil the car needs.
Thanks! I don’t really have a standard because it depends on the size and weight of the car, along with your driving style. For my Kraton I put 500k on the center and 100k in the front and rear. Honestly I think that’s too thin still, but would probably work well for this Flyhal. It’s really best to try different weights until you like it the most👍
@@DerbyCityRC thx man for your reply! i have an FTX DR8/Reely Raptor 6s an JLB cheetah with surplus 120a, 4076 2000kv motor and a ZD racing EX07 with a 160a hobbywing ESC 1/7 onroad car. Can you help me with the correct oils
You’re welcome. Well out of those cars, I only have a cheetah. The cheetah doesn’t have a center diff and I don’t think the F and R diffs hold oil very well. But I would say for a true 10th scale or larger, to start with 200k fluid in the F and R diffs and 500k in the center, then go from there to see what you prefer.
Hey man, cons for your channel. I m thinking of buying JLB J3 (I know you own a cheetah, seen your videos). My other options are Arrma Talion exb 6s or Kraton exb 6s. What do you think?
Thanks!! I just have a hard time recommending the cheetah. It’s a super fun car, but after a while, it starts to break too easily. The 6s kratons are awesome, or another good option is the Team Associated Rival MT10. Have you seen my videos with that truck?
@@DerbyCityRC The actual dilemma is between talion exb 6s which I like most (low center gravity-handling/durability/stability/looking/speed) and j3 that is less than half the price of arrmas, but I believe your cheetah experience, and its good to have honest opinions like yours to aware us. People are complaining for brand new arrmas escs catching fire or stop working cause of overheating, that's a shame for a brand like arrma that claims to be the best out there, for an rc that costs 1,5 basic salary in my country, and push me maybe to a roller solution, but there isn't any roller exb 6s talion, only kraton. Arrma is using the same 150a esc for all 1/7 & 1/8 and hasn't solve that. I understand they mass produce, try to keep the cost down, but we are talking about 700 euro range rcs. What is your esc experience with your kraton? I saw all your kraton videos, you re in depth, well done. I don't bash as hard as you do, I actually don't bash, do you consider talion exb 6s a durable choice? MT10 is a capable truck, saw your nice videos, I m looking for 1/7 or 1/8. Btw I also own a 9204 enoze converted to brushless 120a and 3660 motor(!) , have you found a wheelie bar for that? I 've been looking a while but haven't found so far. It really needs one, I have shredded the back and top of my original body shell, now I have a piranha one :-)
Gotcha! Well I don’t have a talion, though I would like one. I actually have not had issues with my Kraton esc yet. I mention in one video that it busted on a front flip down that gnarly stone staircase, but actually all that had happened was I pinched a wire during reinstallation and after enough hard landings it severed it. Just one of the little wires running from the esc to the receiver. So I fixed that and it’s been good. Also the original fan stopped working so I did need to get a new fan. Unfortunately I have not found a wheelie bar for the Enoze 92xx’s. But those things would take off like a rocket if we can find one for sure!! I definitely love my Kraton and don’t think you can go wrong with it, but yes it is sad that for that price there are some concerns. It has great handing with the large tires and still a pretty low center of gravity. Just needs that servo saver mod and a stronger servo (another disappointment!) Thanks for the great compliments too!!!
@japyoo2248 lol haha! It’s all in the way you use it, and the 16889a pro is still the king of small scales, though the Suchiyu cars definitely give it some competition!
Dang. I bought one and received it today and broke it immediately. I'm not even rough with my cars. Didn't even get to jump this one. The bumper broke right where it connects to the pin for the body. Seems like an unfortunate week spot.
@@DerbyCityRC anything else in this price range or slightly more that would hold up a bit better? Maybe a bit more speed? I don't mind saving up for a while longer. The seller already responded today and offered to take it back on a return, thankfully.
So weird cuz I have great luck with these trucks. But my favorite is the rival MT10. This truck is super durable, still has the center diff and is slightly bigger. Roughly 26 mph on a 2s battery and probably around 40-45 on 3s. Here’s a link and a couple videos if interested. Hopefully that helps. amzn.to/3XnqOMg th-cam.com/video/TXl0aRLky4Q/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/dLmZj-z4p20/w-d-xo.html
@@DerbyCityRC My buddy looked at the pictures and his theory is the plastic is significantly more brittle than say, his Traxxas revo. He hasn't seen the car in person or anything but I suspect that could be an issue. I'll check out the MT10 you linked to. Maybe I'd end up breaking something regardless of how expensive I go. I just didn't expect it on the first battery lol
Ya I’m surprised it broke so easy.if you see this video, I put it through all kinds of madness. This is the exact same chassis as the fc610 and it took absolute hell. The plastic really isn’t brittle. Now you do have to take outside temperature into consideration. You will definitely break parts easier the colder you go, especially when getting below 45°F. th-cam.com/video/GvNNjAeEn10/w-d-xo.html

We utilized the coupon code in your description and got it at a great price, thank you! My front shocks keep coming unscrewed as well. Should I just replace the shocks and if so, do you have a recommendation for replacement shocks? Also what weight of oil would you recommend? Love the videos!
Thanks!! I recommend these shocks: www.banggood.com/custlink/KvmybYETAz
They already come with a gel type fluid in them and work really well on this truck. Raises the ride height slightly too.
@@DerbyCityRC Thank you!
You bet!!
hi great content! you deserve more subscribers!
Just needs that servo saver mod and a stronger servo (another disappointment!)
Thanks for the great compliments too!!!
This or hbx 16899a pro?
The pro would be my choice over this if you’re ok with the smaller size.
@DerbyCityRC hey size ain't everything! So I have been told..
That stinks! That’s where mine tends to break too, but after a whole lot of abuse first. See if you can contact the seller for a warranty replacement.

You will definitely break parts easier the colder you go, especially when getting below 45°F.

its a good RC for the price
Definitely is!!
You said it well Evan, the Hbx, Flyhal and Bezgar are all tough as nails! True they may not be the fastest, but they can be upgraded and such a great platform! Great as is to rip around on too! Would of been something If lil Max would of had a mouthful of something when you squeezed his cheeks!🤣🤪😝👊🏼🔥🔥
Yup! Love those trucks!!
Haha, that could have gotten messy!
🤣🤣
I can report that if you spend ten solid minutes crashing it because you have never driven one before it takes it pleasantly surprised by drifting and sliding around on stock tires
Thanks for the report! These are solid platforms!
I was I bit concerned I couldn’t control it because of my disabilities I give massive control inputs hence 50 crashes including into the wheelchair more than once 🤭
@tepidwheels96h17 just a bit of practice 😄
over $150 for simple 2s 1500mah battery, is y no one buys this stuff anymore. could possibly wait an extra 2 weeks on top of banggood = 4 week delivery thru alliexpress & half the $ cost compared to bangshite. at the end of the day, over $100 nz for 1 battery, get real, its never gonna happen, & that is y the hobby is dead b4 it gets a chance. u make everything warm & fuzzy but reality is over $100 for 1 battery, that is cheapest from the UK, thats messed up...time to find a better/ cheaper hobby... alcoholism sounds more interesting...!
I make it seem warm and fuzzy because it is. I’m sorry batteries are so much there, but that same battery is like $15 here. Hopefully nz fixes whatever issue is causing batteries to be so expensive.
