These were supposed to be my next step on my headphone journey. I enjoyed the Sundaras for the past year as my 1st hifi or "mid-fi" gear but then Hifiman dropped the clearance sales and I couldn't pass up on the Arya Stealths on that price. So I ended up skipping a couple tiers but it's good to head some long term experiences on the Edition XS so I can better recommend them for my friends :)
i suggest you buy some good planner in ear moniters (IEM's) cause of youre climate. A great one with dual voice coil and N52 magnets just came out, the "HZsound luna" for like € 90. I personaly own the S12 from letshour (also a planner IEM) and am very happy with them and the Hz sounds luna should be better.
@@rubencalis5790 I have a lot of IEMs and full size already, from Sony, Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser, Noble, Final, Focal, and Audio Technicas. I just feel planar drivers ain't there yet for durability. Heck Multi BA too, I have a multi BA broke in me just after a couch height fall. Dynamic driver is still king for durability, both from impact and climate.
I had them and will have the again ($270 on amazon). Theyre good, i do wish more emphasis was put on bass, as the roll off is intense for my liking. Something closer to the audeze maxwell tuning below 100hz. I understand an open back will always strungle to reproduce thump and rumble but if it could itd be so perfect for rock and metal.
@@callmemrdee I happen to have Zen DAC 1. I don't use the bass boost. I've downloaded Harman target EQ for Equalizer APO. Easily the best headphones I've ever had. They are pretty good even without it.
enjoyed my XS for 2 years + now !! used it for music , gaming and movies on a dx3pro+ dac. still perfect for me . but the synthetic leather are almost clearing out now.
Exact setup i'm thinking to buy. But still not sure about the amp. Either dx3pro+ or iFi Audio ZEN DAC v3 which is supposed to be a little softer. is there anything lacking in your setup with dx3pro+?
@@bartekes8852 dx3pro+ with extra gain and preset #5 is perfect for me to hear those little footsteps r6 and tarkov games it's too loud now. actually I'm not sure if zen is more powerful.
Yeah watched your first review before from 2 years ago and you convinced me to get them then, but wasn't completely sure because I've got the bose quiet comfort ultra headphones which as you just said are the one's that most people go for or Sony 1000s equivalent which were 150 pounds cheaper,I paid 450 when they first came out...ouch!!! But these will be my first proper hi res planar open backs,so I needed some convincing but I think now I've just watched this 2 year update....that's it I'm getting these plus they are around 200 pounds over here in Scotland so thanks......
The single best song I have to compare different headphones/iems is : Animals as leaders - Cafo. Could you tell me if the XS has fast transients that can reproduce this song well? Of all the 4 sets I have, only Timeless rendered it well. Thats a planar iem. Im looking for a planar headphone and curious about XS 😊
Just want to add a quick note. You need an AMP or a DAC+AMP combo like the dragonfly. Getting DAC only will not help with the soft sound issues caused by high impedance.
I enjoyed your perspective on these headphones. It's easy enough for reviewers to just drop a bunch of graphs and technical data onto their viewers, but this was an organic experience with an opinion. Thank you for your time on this.

I owned a hifiman Ananda, but I sadly due to my humid Asia climate, one driver dies from fungus growing and cuts the tracer line inside the driver...

I have them. Never heard anything sound better
Then you should hear Ananda nano or 660s2 with an amp+dac
@@argo117007 I have ZenDac 2. Good enough
I have them too. I do have to confess I slapped an EQ on these puppies. Turned up bass, toned down some highs. Glorious.
@@czdot yep, I added bass with "true bass" on ZenDac 2 as well, loving it

I love these headphones. They take EQ well and I bought a secondhand unopened box for $200. Insane. 😅
Just bought a pair today on 11/11 sale for $208 shipped brand new.
@EmergencyChannel Nice!

It is possible to replace the headband in Edition XS
What about your mic? Your sound quality is really nice and clear
