I'm glad you explained the gearbox in this tractor because in your part 2 muck spreading video I remember thinking "god he's fair rough with the gearbox". its a nice tractor. I'd like it around a yard with a loader I'd say even tho I'm a New Holland man!
I think that gearbox is ok as we have it in our 390 Massey Ferguson and usually you should have your range selected before you take off and you need to quick at it if you want change range plus another gear lever clutters up the cab
I agree with your points about the transmission and shifting levers. There are soooo many choices on the markert from the various makers and the method on your tractor really does seem awkward (although I don't use it). I wonder why so few boxes are included such as for optional parts, manuals, or small adjustment tools. Certainly there are spots where a box or two could be included. Anyway, thanks for the tour and opinions offered for this particular machine.
+Ji Fi-01 (Jif) you're right about the boxes, its something that really annoys me on modern tractors. They seem to put the tool box on the outside. I wonder if its something to do with safety regulations, to prevent loose tools in the cab

+William Copp Yes, the button option on the shift stick is definitely a nice feature. The lever (usually on the steering column) for changing direction from forward to reverse, such as when loading the poop spreader, is also a nice option to have in the mix.
540E is a more economical pto speed 540E is typically used for jobs that require less power for example spraying and fertiliser spinning it uses less fuel than the typical 540 I think recently they have started to use 1000E. The E stands for economy

actually 540 and 1000 are both common in the US 1000 is mainly for high hp stuff 540 is more common on smaller equipment. we use all 3 large 1000 small 1000 and 540 just depends on what implement your using and how much hp is required and how many rpm

You have alot of tractors for a small dairy farm. I was wondering if there is a time limit in which you can spread slurry and manure? Because in ireland yesterday, the 15th was the last day you are allowed to spread

Put pto gear in 1000rpm and run the rotaspreader at 540 with lower revs and save fuel. That's what the 540e tick is for on the rpm dial
no never do that never its runs on 600 rpm if you do that 540e is ah option pto speed but this tractor dous not have hit

Are you referring to a farm in a nitrate vulnerable zone. There are closed periods for muck spreading in those area here
We have a massey ferguson 4245. They are a nice tractor alright. She has only 2000 hours
