I want to tell you a story I am white and grew up maybe not with a silver spoon, but with everything I could ever ask for. I had a friend so close I called the brother for most of the time I knew him, Now you see My friend was Filipino And was not as financially well as I was, but he still Yeah, mostly everything he asked for In fact, I would say his parents spoiled him and ways mine, didn’t. Not giving him more opportunity But by coddling him too much So you see, we had the exact same computers and the exact same games So we would join each other online When it came to gameplay strategy I always played one match to the next as a fresh experience just kind of shooting whatever I could, and leaving the results up to the wind As I was what you call a Casual gamer, My brother, however Was a competitive gamer, constantly looking for strategies on how to always win, The irony would be that I would always have a lot more fun than he would And at the end of the day, because I wasn’t focused Focused on winning I had an overall much better experience as going with the flow, I would actually do better than him mostly You see he Would always get mad I was doing better, he would talk such a big game about the strategy he had come up with only to get Caught in the foxhole so to speak, So I basically ignored his advice and continue to play my freestyle away, As time past, and I continue to do better than he was He started getting jealous of me And a little bitter And all the while all I was doing was Being myself Trying to compete with me he would always end up making himself worse off Looking back, I realized the kids at school (We went to different schools) Probably didn’t help matters and filled his head with all kinds of stuff or related to this, but Part of me always had a suspicion that he blamed the whole thing on me for being white, and having more privilege than he did, I think he was also mad at me for having a bigger 🍆 but I wasn’t going to “take that back” for him
Out of curiosity, you think their resentment toward you comes from secretly wanting to be babied? Maybe it’s not about vanity, popularity or tribalism, maybe they’re in fear of losing the “hand that feeds”?
Bro, nobody says acting white anymore that was from the 90s. And besides, middle and upper class black families have exist since Jim Crow…so knock it off🙄
“Acting white” refers to your behaviors and one’s attitudes and beliefs about themselves and the AfrAm community. It has absolutely nothing to do with parents and the toys you play with🙄
😂😂😂 me as a black person being told I “act white” all the time. I guess im not dark enough to be black even though I’m the same skin color as then oh the irony 😂😂
This is an extremely unfortunate, yet common, reality with the entire culture. I remember a conversation with my cousins ex where she was speaking on twerking (in and at formal functions where that’s not appreciated) is apart of our culture. The next week we’re all watching My Wife & Kids and then the black cheerleader started twerking. “Why they gotta have the black one be raunchy and twerk”. “What do you mean? I thought this was our culture, they’re simply representing our culture in media” She didn’t see it that way though…. Of course.
Or did they act black. Especially if you're white. You point out that a black person is acting like a usual suspect and you get yelled at. But we're expected to be told we have no culture and be okay with it. If we don't have any culture how can you act white?
As a black girl born in the 90s I was into alternative and heavy metal growing up.. as well as speaking proper English & also loving to read, I would get called white washed by my black peers. I felt rejected so in return I sort of rejected the black culture. It saved me from the nonsense that’s perpetuated in the culture.
I'm a Black man born in the 70s and I've always been into electronic dance music as well as speaking proper, understandable English and I experience the same as you and reacted the same way. The culture rejected me and I responded by rejecting the culture. I'm so far removed from it now I could never return and really have no desire to. Stay on your course girl.
Sort of similar situation with me and Spanish. I like Metal, EDM and was a techie. and predominantly spoke English cause everyone else did so as well. Yet in my actual neighborhood this made me an outsider and shamed for not speaking Spanish. Like they ever spoke to me before then. This made me not want to associate with them nor Spanish as a language and the little I knew from my parents basically fell into dissuse and instead learned German since that's who I interacted with more and accepted me
I was a 90's teen. I grew up listening to grunge , electronic and punk music. Still do well into 40's. Plus I was the odd skater kid. Got called white washed pretty much every day.
In review of "acting white": > holding down a good job > being punctual and respecting the time of others > being well-spoken and literate > showing respect to strangers from the outset > being helpful > having healthy family > wanting to live better than you are right now I really don't like what this implies about "being black" but it's their words, not mine.
self hating racism, because whiney libs told them their whole life how this is how theyre supposed to be, and rhey took that shit to soul, let alone to heart
Welp, what did you expect from the people who waste their entire time just for fulfill lust and gang gang wannabe thug life? The life they live is rely on how they said " socialize " around the same kind colored people. Not around every different people.
It blew my mind when that black history museum published a one sheet saying showing up to work on time, working hard, and reading books is “white supremacy culture”
Most of northern Europe during the time of roman supremacy and even moreso greek antiquity had been the "black" of whites, now look at us, you want to live in greasy Greece or healthy Denmark? I get genetic predisposition for Africans and Europeans to live a certain way the same as Chihuahua behave different from a Bassett hound but i dont believe that its so pronounced in humans and with nurture and environment 90% of people could get on the same level, that is if they aren't born with the redneck\gangsta brain respectively. I think Christianity can be a unifier in the world.
My wife told me how she got called this in high school and also rejected the culture because of it. Glad she saw a threat and not an opportunity for acceptance. Perception is definitely reality.
Well you have Hillbillies that sound strange so what is the Black Race called for the way they talk, and sound,I know that they are not called Hillbillies with the way they sound strange huh !.
There is a thin line between hating the degenerate culture that is represented by black people in the mainstream media and HATING BEING BLACK. Because I distance my from ignorance i know absolutely nobody who participates and i don’t have any white friends
I agree black people are ass backward they also associate negativity like drug dealing being in a gang or jail etc makes you “black” I dealt with this in middle and elementary and got picked on because of it..yet if you are successful or well spoken you are “white” it s silly and ass backwards blsck people should uplift and be happy when blacks achieve success in any positive ways
Being ostracized for "acting white" was a huge blow to me growing up in Chicago. All the ones who threw that at me are in-and-out of jail now, while I've achieved my dream of being an educator, so it's all gravy✌🏾
Something similar in the Hispanic community too like when you move to the U.S. for a better life but you don’t stop behaving like in your old country your now acting like a gringo me and my uncle are the 2 biggest victims of this in my family we dress differently listen to non traditional music (for our culture and in English) and we’re weird it’s like this cycle of stagnation they wanna remain in of keeping every trait like sure my uncle goes to family meetings but it’s mainly for his nephews when I pull up we mainly talk to each other and my cousin that we all kinda share that same feeling I didn’t understand the your acting white thing that you guys experience until I started deviating a bit from my culture I still speak Spanish obviously not as advanced cause I left when I was 11 and I still get told by my family my Spanish is sounding a bit American I didn’t pick up modern Spanish slang
Since I’m African (Ivorian American) when people said I acted white, I just said, “I’m original Black, whatever I do is acting Black.” I never got bullied into acting like a degenerate.
The same goes for Native Americans, we get called “apple” because we are red on the outside and white on the inside, it’s annoying since I left the reservation to seek a better life.
I am weary of anyone who uses race like that. The undertones are horrifically racist and there is no way they can ethically defend their position without bringing out race superiority
@ShadeSlayer1911 same but coconut since I'm south Asian. It's weird because for me being told white was negative in the sense I was "getting into bad stuff" and not behaving according to my culture (I went to a counsellor and had bad grades for a year)
@@Breakfastststst but we or they say white because we are talking and living in European countries . We wouldt be saying white if we were talking about africans or whoever in china or japan

There are decent human beings in a black community too, but we don’t have to adopt another community’s mindset to understand that… let’s not act like you don’t comprehend when someone says “well is ideology is a bit vanilla” this really is what they mean
I was literally told that to be “black” you need to be loud and smoke weed and to not have proper manners. And I was like what about MLK, Malcome X, and Du Bois and all the other lack intellectuals and leaders? Are none of them to be considered “black”. The craziest part was that these kids telling me this had dads and lived in good neighborhoods whereas my family lived paid check to paid check, no dad, a brother in lock up, and I was writing rap music. Lmao but because I spoke well and said yes ma’am and yes sir I was “white”😭
This still always baffles me. Are all the pioneers of black education post-Civil War not black enough or what? The assertion that getting an education is "acting white" is the greatest possible insult to all of their memory and legacy, I'm a white dude and yet this still makes me wanna puke.
They were projecting pretty damn hard, they wanna have something that makes *them* black, but you don’t have to so that enrages them and they have to put *their* own assumptions and anxieties on you. Ain’t nothing more than your skin colour to it dayum.
What is often referred to as black culture is actually just American ghetto culture. A lot of African Americans seem oblivious to the fact that there are close to one billion African Africans who behave nothing like what they deem to be "black" behavior.
I'm a white guy who grew up loving The Boondocks and I'm saddened by the fact that everything Aaron McGruder tried to get through to American black folks through parody is more relevant than ever.
@@zacchfromdalou9679 It's quite clear from the show and from Aaron McGruder's broader work who he is primarily speaking to. Sure he took shots at privileged White folks (Ed Wuncler III, Gin Rummy) and at the archetypal "white guy who owns everything" (Ed Wuncler) but overall the message he was trying to communicate was to Black folks. The entire message can be summed up as: "Black people can only free themselves from their material conditions by educating and organizing themselves as a community but they are too distracted by hood culture and blaming white folks for their problems to make it happen". His message is more relevant than ever.

As a black man, I used to be insulted by that. But now, I realize it and accept it as a compliment, and I embrace it. Because acting "White" has helped me a ton as a well-spoken man. Especially when people think that I'm dumb and ghetto until I open my mouth.
It is your recognition of the VALUE in being a USA citizen. Greatest nation on earth & the BRICS nations are very jealous of USA sucess. USA needs everyone to stand up for OUR nation.❤
My bf came here from Haiti when he was 5 in the 70's. His "acting white " got him to be a anesthesiologist for the last 30 years. His classmates used to tease him because he liked to read books.
there's this swiss-african singer called Manon who i really like (part of a group called Katseye) and she's so elegant, feminine, kind and articulate - it struck me that she was so different in the way she presents herself and speaks from all other black women in the music industry, and i wondered why that was the case. black women clearly have the beauty and ability to be dignified and classy, so why is it always rejected? it's crazy that black culture dictates that they have to dress skimpy and 'throw it back' to be successful or somehow relatable.
White guy here who was a massive nerd. I had a pair of black friends who were ostracized by their peers for being into math, anime, and other nerdy/geeky stuff. I didn’t get it at first but I realized these guys connected more with me and my diverse friend group than their peers because they were rejected. But these guys showed me a bunch about black culture beyond what was on the surface. They were black just a different style. They loved rap and their heritage they just had to choose to be true to themselves or pretend to be something they were not. Great guys.
I think this is something that happens in a lot of racialized spaces, there is a way that you are expected to act, and if you do not act like it you will be seen as an outsider. I'm a Brazilian and due to me not following the stereotypes a lot of people ostracized me when I was younger. At the end of the day it all comes down to ingroup vs outgroup, and we need to rise above it
@@qaztim11Aeeee, Brasil, porra! But in all seriousness, yeah. That pretty much sums it up. I was ostracized for the exact same reason as a kid. I wanted to spend my free time at school reading and didn't like that many sports other than basketball and surfing. I didn't like "Bonde da Stronda" and all that BS and people seemed like they couldn't help but give me a hard time about it. It's easier to just default into aggressiveness rather than just trying to cross the bridge and understand what's different and why. The world would not be what it is today if not for the handful of people willing to do that
I went to a school where I was one of 3 white kids and some of my friends there had the same exact experience. The more messed up part is when they would say, “Chris is blacker than you and hes white”. Goes without saying, all the kids who gave them a hard time ain’t shit now and they’ve all gone on to be more successful than them and myself! In the end, the nerds always win 😂
Black guys have really gotten nerdier in that regard over the years. Every night when I change out in the locker room at work I have 2 brothas with lockers near mine who are talking about comic book heroes and villains, sometimes I even wanna butt in and say "ya'll sound like couple of 12 year old white kids, don't you ever talk about black stuff?"
You’re absolutely correct! However, by todays sub-standard of so called blackness Malcolm X would probably be labeled a sellout just for how he carried himself.

In my mind this need to "talk black" is just another example of the anti-intellectualism going on in America but it is affecting the black commuity in a specific way. It so absurd too, Martin Luther King and Malcolm X spoke proper english.
@@xdoo11ddf255 malcolm x talks in his autobiography of how he was a good student as a child but after a white teacher dismissed his ambitions he deliberately made himself more stupid when he became a criminal. He was reading stuff like neitszche, aristotle and shopenhauer. He was never stupid, the secret of his success was his intellect.
As a Hispanic I would always get this comment in High School. “Why do you talk white” or “You talk white”. Those phrases just scream ignorance lol never bothered me tho
I think part of why Hispanics and most other races tend not to be as bothered by this as black people is because they don't know who they are and where they come from. All they have is "being black", so when they're told they're "acting white" some black people take it as if their identity is being undermined, where as Hispanics and most other races have a country of origin, roots, culture, and heritage that they can trace and hold onto. Their identity as whatever they are isn't so easily undermined because they know who they are, where they come from, and they have a culture not defined by criminal activity, but traditions, religions, beliefs, etc. I say this as a very mixed Hispanic and black person not only from personal experience but also what I have observed from others.
This thinking must be more prevalent in majority Hispanic places. I grew up in the south and my school was almost split 50/50 white and black. There was only a handful of Hispanics myself included, all of us had both white and black friends, made for an interesting dynamic
I had a half hispanic friend in high school. He would constantly be told by other kids that he was a "sellout" and a "wanna be white boi" so he was a social outcast growing up. Instead of embracing this he decided he wanted to be part of the group and he went HARD social justice warrior when he went to college. Sad to see but not uncommon. Look at most SJW race warriors. Most are half if not pure lily white.
I love being called “acting white”. It means I’m not a stereotype as a black woman. If speaking proper, covering myself up and revealing for my husband, loving America, smiling at everyone, laughing, value family, catholic, see myself as an individual means “Acting white”, so be it!
Unfortunately in this day and age it does. This is why I think black people should take that as a compliment. White people are the ones who aren't racist in this day and age. We're the ones who think you can do anything we can do. It's you guys who think you can't. You're the ones holding you down not us.

Yeah, your girlfriend isn’t the only bIack girl/woman out there. I’m also a bIack woman who grew up in a family full of those in the military, worked in law enforcement, education and the medical field. Mind you, i grew up in the hood as well because my family also is blended left and right. But all my family were intelligent, proper and viewed things like education as important to have. I got constantly growing up around the bIack kids in my neighborhood and predominantly bIack schools that i act and talk like a white girl. Because i didn’t feed into the negative stereotypes placed on us. They even made fun of my name saying it was a white girl’s name like it was something i could control. But these same bIack kids never bothered to learn true bIack history because every single one of them had a last name of a white-sIave owner. So i think it’s ironic i got made fun of by being told i had a white-girl’s name by other bIack kids who had last names that originated from white-sIave owners.
@ big props on holding to your beliefs and not allowing anyone to change you and that is true. Some black folk use a victim card because they either never cared about learning about their history, or want to be babied by someone else and don’t want to become responsible. And don’t get me wrong, in the Hispanic community where I come from there is plenty of toxicity with things like this. More specifically American Hispanic toxicity like cheetoh girls and Edgar’s to more native Hispanics like myself who are more culturally diverse. Sometimes in school I would be made fun of for not knowing much about Mexican things but the thing is I tried to tell them was that I’m Honduran not Mexican. And so my culture and food is very different to theirs yet they would insult it and call me a “non Hispanic”. But it’s because they’ve grown up with the notion that all Hispanics are Mexican. And to end it off, they insulted my culture yet some of these Hispanic kids couldn’t speak an ounce of Spanish. Meanwhile I was the most advanced Spanish speaker in my class, but it’s because my family doesn’t want to lose that cultural tie to Spanish and Honduras.
It’s crazy that a good portion of black people want to be the gatekeepers to trauma, struggle, and slang. Like “acting black” or “talking black” is a must for some people. Having swagger or awareness of the current culture is a must. And if you’re not from any struggle or trauma you can’t engage in black conversations or events. I never understood it. I grew up in the suburbs so I got clowned a lot for it.

It's not just a mentality in the US. I was a teacher in an African country and spoke up at a teacher's meeting at our high school about needing to crack down on the rampant cheating being committed by our students, and one of my colleagues responded they're not white, they can't pull off those standards. It was very discouraging. Not gonna lie mate, I'm a white guy from Britain and we are having a LOT of racial and cultural tensions here. Last night I went on a big rant about how I have become racist and my friends didn't understand, I told them "if you had to live around these people you would be racist too". This video made me realise how stupid I was being. Extremely well presented brother, it's not skin it's ideology. Sometimes it's hard to remember that. I was wrong, and you made me realise. My apologies and thanks.
I don’t know what you experienced to come to your previous conclusion, but appreciate that you have the ability to continuously reevaluate your position, change course when warranted and apologize when you believe yourself to be wrong. Not a lot of people can do that and writing your honest perspective took a lot of guts.
I get it, next time you encounter those people who trigger racism in you, just say to yourself, their own race doesn’t like them either. That’s what I do. When I see white peoples who are jerks, I say I bet other white people don’t like them. I bet their kids don’t even like them. It helps you nip it in the bud! And helps you isolate those feelings !
There is a clear connection between ethnicity and identity. Even adopted foreigners will often gravitate into counterculture in my country. Only remigration can fix it.
I told this black girl I was dealing with (I'm a black man) that the music she listens to (sxi red, cardi b, doja, etc) is ghetto, and she got so offended and called me "anti-black".
Excellent video, man. I dated a black girl in college (I'm white) that grew up in a wealthy home in the Chicago suburbs, both parents were professionals (and present/married) and she was less "culturally black" than I was, lol. Even I had natural dreads, lol, she kept her hair short. But you'd have no idea she was black by hearing her voice on the phone, or seeing her name on a job application as her name was Ashley. I'll never forget the first time we were out & ran into a group of black girls she kind of knew. All of a sudden she had the hood accent, started wildly gesturing with her hands, swearing every other word, and was ramping up the volume of her voice to match them... Dumbed-down her vocabulary so she didn't sound too smart or something, it was like a totally different person. When they walked away I asked what that was all about and she said it's just easier to fake it. Apparently she was bullied by the few black kids that were in her school for "talking white", getting good grades, having white friends, etc so by high school she'd developed this alter ego. Called herself "Ash Tray (which I thought was pretty funny) when running in black circles, etc. And I met her parents and they certainly weren't ghetto in the slightest, so I know the "white voice" was her real self. It's just sad... But last I talked to her she's working at an accounting firm and doing great in life, so she turned out just fine. "Bigotry of low-expectations" is very real, and usually perpetrated by the very people that claim to be the most progressive.
Honestly, if I had saw that change from normal to ghetto then back to normal irl, I would’ve laughed my ass off by how low hood people are compared to her. I laughed the moment the persona change was mentioned. But, it really is sad that blacks have to dumb themselves down in order to mingle with hood blacks, but honestly it’s pretty funny how that’s a thing amongst other races. I’m Hispanic btw so I’ve witnessed it before and when other Hispanics see me laugh, at interactions that I’ve seen, they think I’m crazy and ask what’s so funny…*Sigh* they wouldn’t get it.
This video is super meaningful to me because I’m mixed. Never felt like it fit in well anywhere. I was either “too white” or “too black.” Just let people be themselves. I know I’m headed toward success and I’m not gonna let other people tell me who I am. Great video.
Its your own people that need to realize this tho. Mainly liberals. Us conservatives dont care about any of that all that matters is if youre a good person.

In HS I dealt with the "you talk/act white" thing. I tried to change it and it felt weird so I just decided to just do my thing. I remember once my dad said to talk like a "n word" and how my mom was like "you gotta be more street" I'm like nah I'm gonna do my own thing. Here I am now with a career job, owning my house free and clear and happily married staying true to myself. I never limit interests to a color because there's so much cool stuff out here to see and do. Never change for anyone!
I'm an old white woman. I have one vietnamese brother in law,my niece's husband is black, another niece's husband is Mexican. I don't think there are any all white families anymore. It bothers me seeing young people hate other races and cultures. Intentional ignorance gets you nowhere. The Internet opens up the world, a door to learn anything and everything.
We dont care we like being white not some weird half Asian mix Many minorities allready expressed their seething hatred for us, so i have no desire to learn from a culture thats from a country i will never visit
I only partly agree Some cultures just can get better along then others Doesnt mean we cant learn from each other It's mainly about similar values One of the biggest lies I have been told my whole life is that everyone is equal I stopped believing that
We as a nation are becoming more mixed and as long as we have a standard of excellence in culture, speech, and etiquette, we will thrive. I'm Mexican American and my wife is White American of German descent. Our daughter is a beautiful mix of what makes our respective background and cultures great. I want my daughter to love her Hispanic side and her white side. I want her to speak eloquently. The playground will always have its bullies and idiots. We have to teach our kids that their worth lies in what they think of themselves and not give in to peer pressure.
I remember working with a black woman from New Orleans who said that me and all the guys from my town were just white dudes in black skin. I said why and she explained it giving all the usual tropes of what it meant to be “black”. I then said well it seems to me being black means to embody everything negative and bad. She looked me dead in the eyes and said “yep!” I couldn’t even respond. I just shook my head, but I could see she was wounded and was full of self/racial hatred.
I had this happen to me. Called me a nerd for getting good grades, a square for not joining a gang, and other things like this. I lost friends over this.
Have you heard the way immigrants from African nations speak? They have accents, but they speak perfect English !!. They also have intact families and expect their children to get an education. This is true of Asians and immigrants from India and the Middle East.
First video I’ve watched of yours instantly subscribed, very well spoken I’ve never heard someone talk about this topic so clearly and I believe it makes it very easy for most people to understand.
I've been dealing with that my whole life. I'm from the bayarea, South San Francisco, to be exact and when I talk to people of all races, they are shocked how i speak some even say I sound white I grew up with a strict and loving father who didn't allow us to talk like we were from the hood also my aunt was a English school teacher we had to talk properly in front of her us black people are all different we don't all have to be from some hood and the ones that are from the hood don't all talk the same.
There's this whole thing about Elvis stealing from black culture by playing rock yet if anyone in the community wanted to take an interest in Rock music then it's stigmatized. Even Jimmy hendrix caught flack for trying to make a name for himself in the genre his community created by said community.

Great video. I hope we can all learn to find common things among us. Learn to listen and learn to love. Learn to accept and acknowledge differences. Speak openly. Joke. Love.
As a black woman who grew up in the late 90s, early 2000s as a kid, I'm never denied who i am because of my blackness, however, I never wasn't insecure on my skin c0l0r as well. So for me, overall, at the end of the day: I'm just being myself, that all its matters.
There is no black culture. People need to wake up and realize there's a healthy culture and a toxic culture. And the toxic culture is fostered by the governments, media and academia.
I do not know why it is, but some people just can not stand seeing someone doing better and elevating them self. It's not just friends or peers, it is also some family members as well. What I have learned over the years is to cut loose the dead weight. sometimes it is hard and it will hurt, but you you have to keep pushing. We all have heard the crabs in a bucket analogy before and it is true. The people who can not or will not simply be happy for you trying to better yourself and succeed will always try to pull you back down to keep you exactly where you are at.
If I see a well spoken Black man and woman working and living peacefully. They aren't White. They're responsible individuals who work hard. To all those black men and women out there who's being called a "sellout" just don't engage in the tomfoolery. Just smile and keep moving.
A lot of these guys just don't have good role models, I have both my parents who are black ome from jamaica the other from rwanda they always taught me to study and stay out of trouble, where we live in the uk there's a lot of struggle with the cost of living etc but we're able to relatively comfortable because of the hardworking they put in, I see these guys trying to act like gangstas for some kind of recognition amongst other black people but they normally just end up dead or in jail, I'd rather be "white washed" and have a good future then be "proper black" and end up in a cell or the ground decades before I should
I have a feeling our ancestors from ancient Africa had some incredible values and drive or none of us would be here today. They would probably die if they saw how some of their black and white descendants in this country ended up.
You don’t act “white”. You are someone who takes true accountability for their life and critical thinks about it. Those values don’t belong to any one race. Wonderful message, thanks for sharing.
I'm a black conservative woman from the Caribbean. I went to a Catholic School and I was called all kind of crazy names. I think the craziest was being called an Oreo. I'm black on the outside but white on the inside? Wtf does that even mean. Great video sir. I also came across Dr Joseph Murphy's book the power of the subconscious mind. It's a very good book, I definitely learned a lot about the power of mind and manifesting the life you want. I'm sending you love ❤🎉 & light ✨. Please keep making these great videos.
My longest and dearest friend was born on Montserrat and raised in England and now resides in Santa Barbara. She is nearing her 70s and gets called zebra, oreo and other dumb stuff by the young folks . She just shakes her head and asks what is wrong with proper speech and conduct? Crickets or nonsense about not "representin'" in response.
Its been the story of my life. I remember learning kickflips in skateboarding from my friends at school that taught me, and then coming back to my neighborhood only to be get side-eyed by virtually everyone. Thank you for bringing up the leeching. As someone who is disabled with a chronic, hidden disability, I was terrified that I would be denied from medicaid becuase 1 - I'm white, and 2 - there are so many people leeching off the system I was afraid I wouldn't get the aid for my medications I needed. I'm so grateful for you bringing it up becuase I've talked to some black people about it and they say that its there for them or for reparations and that since I'm white and my parents live comfortably though retired, I don't need medicaid. I didn't get denied, thank God, but hearing you bring it up makes me feel sane for once. Thank you and I love your videos to understand the lives around me and you. Take care bruv
Right on, dude. Everybody needs to see this. I can only speak for me, but I’m white and I WISH I sounded like James Earl Jones. He doesn’t sound black or white… he sounds commanding, confident, calming, and I will NEVER sound like that guy. That voice opens doors and leaves a lasting impression. Why wouldn’t we all want that?
When I was on deployment, my buddy massey ran into one of these. He was just conversating with his fellow soldier, they interrupted him and was like "you talk like them white folks" my brother's eyes widened and he was like "oh you mean educated?" 😂😂😂
As a well spoken black man I’ve always battled this, and it’s always someone who hasn’t spent enough time around black people, thanks for speaking on this
I really appreciate you making this video. I am a 36 year old black woman from SC. I've been told that I sound white and act white for my whole life. At first, it made me uncomfortable, especially in school when I got teased and sometimes bullied for using proper English, studying, getting good grades, reading books for pleasure, taking care of my health and fitness, dancing in ballet, etc. But as an adult, I couldn't care less what people say. I'm so glad that I maintained these habits and lifestyle. My life is filled with a close circle of people of all races that I love and cherish. I hope that more people come to realize that taking care of your finances, health, education, etc. is important and that anyone who says otherwise is just trying to bring you down to their level.

I want to tell you a story
I am white and grew up maybe not with a silver spoon, but with everything I could ever ask for.
I had a friend so close I called the brother for most of the time I knew him,
Now you see My friend was Filipino
And was not as financially well as I was, but he still Yeah, mostly everything he asked for
In fact, I would say his parents spoiled him and ways mine, didn’t.
Not giving him more opportunity
But by coddling him too much
So you see, we had the exact same computers and the exact same games
So we would join each other online
When it came to gameplay strategy
I always played one match to the next as a fresh experience just kind of shooting whatever I could, and leaving the results up to the wind As I was what you call a
Casual gamer, My brother, however Was a competitive gamer, constantly looking for strategies on how to always win,
The irony would be that I would always have a lot more fun than he would And at the end of the day, because I wasn’t focused Focused on winning I had an overall much better experience as going with the flow, I would actually do better than him mostly
You see he Would always get mad I was doing better, he would talk such a big game about the strategy he had come up with only to get Caught in the foxhole
so to speak, So I basically ignored his advice and continue to play my freestyle away,
As time past, and I continue to do better than he was He started getting jealous of me And a little bitter And all the while all I was doing was Being myself
Trying to compete with me he would always end up making himself worse off
Looking back, I realized the kids at school
(We went to different schools) Probably didn’t help matters and filled his head with all kinds of stuff or related to this, but
Part of me always had a suspicion that he blamed the whole thing on me for being white, and having more privilege than he did,
I think he was also mad at me for having a bigger 🍆 but I wasn’t going to “take that back” for him
Out of curiosity, you think their resentment toward you comes from secretly wanting to be babied? Maybe it’s not about vanity, popularity or tribalism, maybe they’re in fear of losing the “hand that feeds”?
Losers don't want to have a winner around them
Bro, nobody says acting white anymore that was from the 90s. And besides, middle and upper class black families have exist since Jim Crow…so knock it off🙄
“Acting white” refers to your behaviors and one’s attitudes and beliefs about themselves and the AfrAm community.
It has absolutely nothing to do with parents and the toys you play with🙄
They say you "act white" but get mad when told they "talk black".
Lmfaoooo so trueeee
😂😂😂 me as a black person being told I “act white” all the time. I guess im not dark enough to be black even though I’m the same skin color as then oh the irony 😂😂
This is an extremely unfortunate, yet common, reality with the entire culture.
I remember a conversation with my cousins ex where she was speaking on twerking (in and at formal functions where that’s not appreciated) is apart of our culture.
The next week we’re all watching My Wife & Kids and then the black cheerleader started twerking. “Why they gotta have the black one be raunchy and twerk”.
“What do you mean? I thought this was our culture, they’re simply representing our culture in media”
She didn’t see it that way though…. Of course.
😂😂Very very true! How ironic

In review of "acting white":
> holding down a good job
> being punctual and respecting the time of others
> being well-spoken and literate
> showing respect to strangers from the outset
> being helpful
> having healthy family
> wanting to live better than you are right now
I really don't like what this implies about "being black" but it's their words, not mine.

As a black (African) person this is 100% true sadly.
It blew my mind when that black history museum published a one sheet saying showing up to work on time, working hard, and reading books is “white supremacy culture”
Whattt
So being ignorant and lazy is being a proud black person so who are the people behind this the KKK?
Do you remember what year the sheet was made?
Most of northern Europe during the time of roman supremacy and even moreso greek antiquity had been the "black" of whites, now look at us, you want to live in greasy Greece or healthy Denmark?
I get genetic predisposition for Africans and Europeans to live a certain way the same as Chihuahua behave different from a Bassett hound but i dont believe that its so pronounced in humans and with nurture and environment 90% of people could get on the same level, that is if they aren't born with the redneck\gangsta brain respectively. As the great Carlton said: "Being black is not what im trying to be, its what I am"
Hispanic is not exclusive to whit or black btw, most latinos are a bunch of races mixed so you can found white and black people from the same familly.

And I met her parents and they certainly weren't ghetto in the slightest, so I know the "white voice" was her real self.

i’ve always said, if there will be any progress … it must come from within a certain group. not from the outside. love your message man
Its been the story of my life. I remember learning kickflips in skateboarding from my friends at school that taught me, and then coming back to my neighborhood only to be get side-eyed by virtually everyone. There's a few people that understand the nature of it, but its something not ever seen around here.
I like your vibes man. Please dont stop the positive feel vids. Cause idk anyone else who has discussed this like you.
Brilliant video man. Love the reference to Sowell, and the real life experiences. You’re definitely kicking valuable questions. Love it! 👏👏👏
"you aren't loyal to your own destruction" earned my subscription. powerful words man
It's like this for us indigenous people. I get these comments a lot, too. Thanks for the video, It was really helpful!
Thank you for sharing this you’re doing amazing work♥️🦇keep it up!!
When I was on deployment, my buddy massey ran into one of these. He was just conversating with his fellow soldier, they interrupted him and was like "you talk like them white folks" my brother's eyes widened and he was like "oh you mean educated?" 😂😂😂
As a well spoken black man I’ve always battled this, and it’s always someone who hasn’t spent enough time around black people, thanks for speaking on this
Man! You speak so well and your storytelling skills are refined!! Also awesome outro that I didn't want to skip!
It is kind of crazy that "acting white" is almost literally just acting civilized and understanding the importance of the social contract.
Not the social contract, more like social mores and norms.

First time watching one of your videos and you act just like my best friends dad one of the best people I know love this
Love ya brother. It’s sick to see more black dudes speaking out instead of just falling in line!
It’s worse when the family thinks so
2:00 it's not very unfortunate.... It's TRAGIC.
I see what you did there
