Hi Stefan Your different tutorials are awesome! I just found something that may be usefull concerning the problem you mentionned about getting the recording of track 2 at the first measure : just set the Loop Sync option to OFF on Track 1 when recording its single measure! Then set Loop Sync to On on Track 2, set your Track length that you want (for example 4 measures), and the playback will start at the first measure, even if you started recording after 3 measures of Track 1! Also notice that the first measure is blinking in Red on the Tempo button while other measures are blinking in green, it can be a guide. Hope this helps Ludovic
These are great tutorials. I really like the way you use the visuals showing the foot tapping and the green bars showing what is recording and when it is looping etc........this is exactly how to teach and have others follow you and learn how to do it. Great job sir. I am watching all because I am getting an RC300 soon and you are going to save me much time in the learning process. Very helpful. God Bless.
You could play it the way you originally wanted by setting the progression track to loop sync: off. But leave the tempo sync: on. Then the progression track starts at measure one when you hit play/record.
Hi there, so is this the solution? That would be the main reason for me to upgrade from RC-30 to 300 because I like to start my performances with a short loop of drums and then the rest of the tracks in different lengths. Thank you both.
Yes, that is the solution Luis. I just got mine last week, and these videos have been incredibly helpful. But the solution to the above video is to simply turn the loop sync off (on all three tracks.) Still experimenting with different combinations, but that's how I've been doing it. Again, this is a great video series to watch before and after you get the 300 - which I HIGHLY recommend over the 30.
This drives me crazy about the rc300! I bought it with this function in mind and most of the time I want to start with that shorter measure. I cant believe there isnt a way for it to work as both you and I imagined. Extremely frustrating.
Basically what I always wanted to do, was recording one measure of percussions first, then recording chords for as long as I want and stop the recording at the ending of one of the measures based on the percussion loop. But if that makes the looper crash.. it is not for me. You saved me. I wonder if the same happens with the rc-500.
You can set track 1 to 1 bar and track 2 to free, and then start with recording the rhythm on track 1. That works fine for me. Of course, you'll have to close to loop on track 2 manually but that's not really a problem since you already got the tempo and the beat to guide you.
LoopsUnlimited - Live.Cover.Music. That's strange, I don't have a problem with that. Might have something to do with software version perhaps? Please check out our channel, just started out but there's a couple of songs there where we make use of the RC300... would appreciate some feedback from a fellow looper 😉 th-cam.com/video/SuwaiRJM7LQ/w-d-xo.html
@@LoopsunlimitedDe yeah, mine crashes sometimes, too. Also infuriating is when it decides I wanted 5 measures instead of 4. That's almost impossible to recover from at a gig
awesome job :D I love it. One question is possible to set different effects to each loop, one example loop number 1 a distortion effect base, loop number 2 a bass effect and loop number 3 a delay effect for the solo. Thanks for your time :)
Thank you for taking the time to do these tutorials. Excellent work. Are you aware of any pedals out there that would allow you to record a beat track of one bar, and then allow you to record your 8 bars without running into the problem you found here?
Hi. I love your tutorials and this is really helpful but am trying to do something slightly different I think. I want to have a drum track constant throughout the song on track 1. On track 2 I want to record guitar and bass for a verse. On track 3 I want to record guitar and bass for a chorus. I then want to be able to switch from track 2 to track 3 and back again so that I can sing or play solo over either verse or chorus. I can do this if I switch to single track mode where I put drums, guitar and bass on track 1 for the verse, stop and then record drums, guitar and bass on track 2 for the chorus. Not really a live method. Just wondered if you had any ideas?
Question: you say to record the longest track first because when you turn it off then on it is out of sync. Does that mean that a live performance can be done with shorter track first? Or will it throw itself off anyway? Ty senpai
Hi great videos, can you make one for multi instrument loopers? How to conect the looper with a mixer if is this the best way. Thanks anyway! Learned so much.
I planning to do some sort of Rig rundown with my own rig. I am using mulitple instruments and had a learning curve to get there.... But it will take some time.
Thank you for the great tutorials, really helpful! :D I have a RC 300 and I am looping backing vocals aswell. I really want to know if there is a possibility to put effects like delay or reverb on my voice without affecting the guitar sound. Thanks in advance :D
Hmm. I never used the effects of the RC-300. I do it differently. My main vocals run through the VoiceLive3 directly to the mixer. So they bypasse the RC-300. For the backing vocals I use I second microphone. That second mic is processed in the mixer, before it hits the RC-300. I want less high end and more reverb for the backing vocals. Only problem I had to solve was that I needed a mute switch for the backing mic. I found, that I always recorded the mic too, when I recorded the guitar or the drums. So I built a little stomp box with a switch.
Danke!
Also den RC30 kenne ich leider gar nicht. Ich habe einen RC3 und einen RC300. Ja.
Will the RC-300 always just use whatever tempo it is set at? What I mean is can I use it without having to listen to a click and still have all of the tracks locked to the same tempo in terms of loop start/end points? For instance if the unit is set to 100bpm but I play and set a loop at around 120bpm will the subsequent tracks follow those end points or revert to the 100bpm ones? I hope that question makes sense!
If you set a tempo, you need some sort of click. Or you just do not predefine the tempo. Then the looper will calcutate the tempo from the first track you record. If the others will be aligned can be set with different parameters. Please check out the parameters "Play mode" "Loop Sync" and "Tempo Sync" in the owner's manual. That will give you a lot of possibilities.
Perfect - I'm glad to hear the unit will calculate the tempo from my playing. Thanks for the quick reply! Great videos by the way. I'll be checking them out again when my RC300 arrives :D
Hi great video thanks. I was wondering if you could help me. I have an RC-300 and I use an MPX 8 sample player for my 'drums'. I'm trying to set up a fixed loop length of 1 measure on track 1 and 4 measures on tracks 2 & 3. I don't use the rhythm / metronome functions to aid me. I record one measure of drums and press the track 1 footswitch to tell the unit that I have done one measure. The problem is it seems to count the end of my recorded measure as the start of measure 1 instead of measure 2 like I expected. In short I get 5 measures at the start of my song - 1 to record then 4 measures played before the loop returns to measure 1. Is there a way to fix this?
Hmmm. That is weird. To my experience, the loopstation will count the longest track. That would be 4 measures. No matter on which track you start the recording. So after the recording of 1 measure on track 1, there should be 3 more measures until measure 1 comes again.
On single track mode verse is Track 1 12 measures and chorus is Track 2 8 measurres, when pressed back to track 1 it starts playing from the middle not from the beginning. What can i do?
Either set Play Mode to "One Shot" instead of Loop on your chorus (Track 2) or Disable Loop Synch on one of your tracks (make tests to know what suits you best)
Hey man I am wondering if you could help me. The people at the music stores don't know much. I have a rc-300 Looper, a Mic, computer, and amp connected together. I have a prerecorded song on my computer which I turn on when I play live. The song would play throught my performance and only I would be able to hear it through my earpiece; however, I would like the song to also come out of the speaker only at the chorus to accompany me. Can you help me figure out how to do this. That would be great.
How exactely did you connect the elements? Mic -> Mic in; Amp -> Instrument in; Computer -> Aux in? Where did you connect your earphones? To the sub out of the RC300? I'm not sure, if this will work as you would like to have it. The only routing option, that can be changes by a switch is the mute of the Mic in. But this will affect the input of the RC-300. When I understood you right, you would like to change the routing of the Aux in either to Main+Sub out or only to Sub out.
LoopsUnlimited - Live.Cover.Music. Hey man thanks. I actually got it to work. I am using a kill switch and a dual split for the input of the computer/cellphone. That let's me control when I want the audience to hear the music through the speaker and not. I can also be hearing the music through a head phone throughout the song.
@@yairdiaz8212 If you were running protools with two outs (via an interface, or there are probably other ways), you could run the main out through two separate bus tracks (or any instrument you wanted going out through one and not the other) and run the one bus through to your headphones and the other out to the board or through the RC 300. Then, on the bus going out to the main speakers, you could mute and unmute it with automation. I'm sure it can be done with other programs as well, I'm just familiar with protools. That way, every time you play, it would work at the exact same spot without you having to change anything or push any buttons. Automation can do a lot for you. For instance, if you wanted the recording to get slightly louder on the last chorus, you could put some automation on the main so you could really add some sound right before you leave the song.
No unfortunately not. I read, that you can connect an synchronize two RC300 untis. But that doesn't make any sense to me. Other possibility is to leave the RC300 behind and go to Ableton live with a midi controller. That's what Ed Sheeren did. For me the RC300 is enough....
You could. But "almost silent" discribes the problem. The track needs an audible rhythm. Otherwise you will have a problem when you try to play over it. Plus: In a live performance nobody want to watch me recording something that nobody can hear.
