Olivia, the Orthodox CHRISTian church might be the truest form of CHRISTian faith. It views Christ from the eastern perspective, as opposed to the roman/western perspective. Pray about your faith,asking GODs HOLY SPIRIT to guide you, remember, whatever faith in CHRIST you choose, the Bible must be it"s guide and CHRIST it"s head. LORD bless you and guide your steps.
I say the music of the Angels and saints in heaven is beyond human imagining. To hear the voices of the Angels and saints sing we would probably die from joy. It's like listening to a catchy song but 10 or a hundred times catcher. I'll tell you now the Musicians of God's heavenly court Million times greater then the Musicians of earth

This is one of the reasons I left the Protestant mega churches with their big bands and instruments. Gods instruments the human voice is so much more powerful and beautiful.
I am going from a small non-denominational church to orthodoxy. While I know the people of my church are devoted to God I still feel orthodoxy is much better, pray for me brother.

I believe music allows us to see another person's heart without anything distracting us. It's good to listen and hear each other, but we argue so much! All of us do. When I can listen to music of the heart, I feel like I understand another religion. I hope you are well.

Bc Atypical This is a lovely performance, but it’s not a church service. Our church sings along with the choir and our services are in English, but not all churches sing along and many are in another language. If I had to find another Orthodox church, like you, I would want one that I could sing along with and that was in English. 😊

I was looking for a comment on that, too. I heard a similar performance when I visited Suzdal in 2012. It was amazing and, while nothing can quite compare to being there in person, I'm glad this video and others like it are online for us to listen to.

I wish i could have spoken Russian because of beautiful and spiritual Orthodox hymns. I got baptised in Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. And i just went to the church even if i could not understand anything. The time i spent at the church gave me a inner peace and holy bless from God. Now i am living in Korea. I miss my church. God bless all Orthodox christians....
They're singing not in Russian but in Church Slavonic. I doubt you'd understand it well if you've learned Russian as a foreign language. It's hard to understand it even for Russians sometimes.

Life can be tough and it is a comfort to know that the Lord endured it all and walked in the midst of this, witnessing sickness, the military conquest and enduring persecution Himself to the end all while being an innocent Man. I think the biggest act of kindness that He has given to us is our salvation through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Truly a mercy beyond measure that though we all fell short and sinned He still sought to reunite us through the forgiving of sins so we can return to Him. I believe through His miraculous death and resurrection that we too are saved by His sacrifice and grace, and I pray that you come to Him with your troubles and the weight upon your heart and life so He can give you rest. Matthew 11:29-30 says, "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." I pray may you receive encouragement and strength to continue running your race, and know that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and that no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). I'm studying at a Benedictine Seminary right now and the monks here have translated their chant to English while preserving the Gregorian tones. At vespers (evening prayer of the Liturgy of Hours) they start with, "Let my prayer arise O Lord, like incense before you. Like the evening sacrifice be the raising of my hands. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Alleluia." That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays, which consists in bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah (God in Aramaic, the original language of Jesus and the Gospel), and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, just like Jesus and Moses and others are His servants and messengers. Never a messenger of God said he was God or literally son of God, it was the people after him who changed the words of God and corrupted the Religion. God is unique and absolute, He does not need to have a family and sons or to associate anyone else with His kingdom, He can simply create whatever He wants, everything belongs to Him, and to Him everything will return. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Otherwise, each god would have taken away what it has created, and some of them would have gained supremacy over others. Glory be to God, far beyond what they describe. The Knower of the hidden and the manifest. He is exalted, far above what they associate. (91-92 / Translated by ITANI).

Our church sings along with the choir and our services are in English, but not all churches sing along and many are in another language. I dont know what to say, life on earth is tough. the ethics, the philosophies mankind has set, both religious and non religious has woven a tapestry too hard to comprehend, while innocents die and the pious stand still. But, we can hope that the lord of all creations, that which made us shall liberate us all in his eternal kindness. may we truly feel the kindness of the almighty before we go back to our slumbers.
Life can be tough and it is a comfort to know that the Lord endured it all and walked in the midst of this, witnessing sickness, the military conquest and enduring persecution Himself to the end all while being an innocent Man. I think the biggest act of kindness that He has given to us is our salvation through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Truly a mercy beyond measure that though we all fell short and sinned He still sought to reunite us through the forgiving of sins so we can return to Him. I believe through His miraculous death and resurrection that we too are saved by His sacrifice and grace, and I pray that you come to Him with your troubles and the weight upon your heart and life so He can give you rest. Matthew 11:29-30 says, "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." I pray may you receive encouragement and strength to continue running your race, and know that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and that no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). At vespers (evening prayer of the Liturgy of Hours) they start with, "Let my prayer arise O Lord, like incense before you. Like the evening sacrifice be the raising of my hands. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Alleluia."

So Beautiful! That is what religious music should sound like! I am one of the ever growing number of western converts to Orthodoxy. It reflects the holiness and beauty of Orthodox Tradition.
The cure to the lost of faith in western country would be to sing such songs in our churches. This would make believe even the most atheistic guy.
I’m Catholic and I have serious respect for the Orthodox Church and their music. God bless

@@user-ig1vw9rc1s они одеты в подрясники. Эту одежду может носить любой мирянин,кого благословит священник. Так что, признаков монашества нет.

Proof: Oriental and Eastern orthodoxy were not in communication for 1500 years but have the same hymns, the same Holy Tradition, the same dogma, the same everything!
I pray for us to be in communion once again and enlighten the west together!
That is correct because even in USA when I hear the Orthodox hymns, it is almost like you're not in USA but you're in Europe. Especially the lighting at the holy fire in Jerusalem it's considered one of the greatest holy miracles that is only performed by the Orthodox people.
Surely this is one of the most beautiful performances of the human voice ever. Thank you for this.
