As much as I love Chicago this staging has the look and feel of a Karaoke performance.

That's because their vocals suck and they use backing tracks. We were at a concert about a year ago and they got off and there were two bands playing. Grandpa on Cetera's vocals. Zzzz

Any idea or speculation who will take over for Lou Pardini when the tour resumes?

    • @pauli6043
      @pauli6043 2 ปีที่แล้ว

It's Loren Gold, who is best known for touring with The Who. The first videos I have seen are cringeworthy. He may be a great keyboard player, but vocally nowhere even close to Champlin or Pardini

A friend of mine has known the kids of one of the original members and sent my material to the band as soon as Lou left.
As a keyboard player myself, I knew that Loren would replace him. I got to audition with the whole band
Despite finding the guitarist who replaces Keith with a kind of The Edge feel from u2, I thought his way of playing was cool, by the way, he's more of a contractor. The first thing I heard from their production was that if I joined the band, my job would be to be between one of the keyboards, the drums and the percussion with a pedestal when I wasn't singing and I would sing some of Terry's songs, even though I'm a tenor. The problem with me was: The songs I played with them, they chose first. They liked it, when they asked me what song I knew of theirs, I played some from Chicago 18, 19 and 21. And their irritation was visible. To the point that Robert got stressed, because he liked it, he praised my voice and said it would work and asked if I could ''change'' some things in the songs to please, like including a saxophone solo in the intro of You' re not alone instead of the guitar since the guitarist has another feel, playing Will Still Love me on the keyboard like Jason did on the acoustic set and even putting the horns on Look Away and I thought the fans deserved to hear a B-side that was never played live
Robert liked the idea, he even asked me which one and I said it would be nice to hear: Victorious or We Can Last Forever live
      BUT,
the others don't... Without naming names so as not to be indiscreet I even took a ''cut'' from one of them who said: ''You have a tenor voice and nobody here wants another Cetera, you don't sound like him, you he's mixed with the OTHERS who came, however, his voice is very high and strong, they don't want a freddie mercury that takes the shine off the horns that are the glow. Neil is going to sing a track with Loren and do you want to touch up those tracks? My vote is no, you have new ideas, but here are rules, son''
That's when Robert intervenes and differs in opinion saying that he would give a new face to the band and it would be cool, but, he ended up being convinced to vote no and I left the audition sad and kind of hurt by the way the band treated me, did you have respect? he had. But you don't mess with anything and you can't even innovate with them

@@TheJldef Interesting, it would have been good, to see a new face in the band, NTM another voice as to where from what I’ve seen from the TH-cam videos Robert and Neil now cover the Terry vocals and they dropped “Look Away” from the set, and I noticed when I saw them live in October, Robert sang the Kath verses on” Dialogue 1” even when Lou was back from his month long LOA, wonder if that was a hit of his departure???, I’m still wondering why Lou actually left???, wish you well in your musical endeavors!

@@dimitrikotsianas2852 From the videos I've seen Loren only sings Habit hard to break the rest stayed with Robert and Neil, even I'm A Man stayed with the 2 after the drum and percussion solo Neil comes back singing low notes and "look away" for what I saw left the setlist. Robert is a sweet, kind person who seemed to me to be someone who always tried to leave Chicago with the fashion trends and wanting the best for the band, in addition to being a kind and very cute person. Even though we all know he had a meltdown in Foster's time, but today he must see it as something more personal than blaming Foster. Nobody told me, I saw his eyes shining I think he imagined a face for the songs, a different voice, but he doesn't run Chicago alone

They sound fine in my opinion. But that's not the issue. There are several issues. It takes an army of replacements to do what 7 people originally did. The tenor singer doesn't play an instrument. They're playing with pre-records and click tracks. But they do sound reasonably good.

I guess it's not fair to compare him with Peter, but the singing is rough. Really rough.

Peter is indeed original... however, to Neil Donnell does offer some range & confidence & power that I think improved compared to Jason. He has pros & cons, but overall I think he's doing a good job.

It’s unfortunate Jeff Coffey left. He probably had the best facsimile of a Cetera sounding vocal performance. This is painful to listen to.

Neil is just flat on Old Days. Phoning it in. And the tone of Cetera former guitar player who took over for Keith is off. No one is Terry Kath, but Keith's playing was damn close. What a shame Jason and Jeff left, and they couldn't hire back Dawayne Bailey for guitar job due to, um, a certain issue

This lead singers voice is just too flat and weak. He sounds good at times but overall it's not cutting the mustard. The harmonies are just not there anymore. Very weak and distorted.

If they dont get a new lead singer asap they will end. I love Chicago but this is hard to listen to. Sounds like everybody’s first time playing together. Send some help or retire fellas. This is bad.
