Hey Jonathan, I was manually entering in the notes into the 101's built in sequencer. The button I kept pressing was the "Rest" button...essentially adding a rest note to the sequence.
You mean the sequence? It's just an arpeggio of the second inversion of an A major chord which then drops the A to a Ab/G# making it a 1st inversion C#m arpeggio. As for Scale, E major or A major
akai s612 sampler (& record player) boss se50 (fx unit) yamaha cs5 (vintage monosynth from the late 70s) korg ds8 (8 part multitimbral 4 op fm synth) commodore amiga to sequence everything old crappy brandless 8 channel mixer (& tape deck) any old stereo/big speakers
Hi, can anyone having the Roland MGS-1 grip test the resitance of the pitch bend potentiometer on the grip for me? I mean at minimum and maximum range, thanks? Measured on the larger tip 3,5mm pins. I made a replica of the grip and I need to know if it matches the original one.
+Stanimir Kalchev no man...! this is its big brother.after this one roland began to make a more "consumer" devices, that would make "all" but were not very good in anything, like the mc 202, mc-505, thats why they are super cheap. at least mc 505. its time was the 90's techno, jungle, trip-hop
MC 202 is pretty much the same as the 101, but the 202 has Accent and doesn't have the keyboard, well, it has a keyboard but not the normal style as the 101. The accent however is the gem on that, same as the 303 (not the MC303 that came out later)
29 years on and it stands the test of time, it's so euphoric almost like if the Universe in its creation had sound it would sound like this.
That's the long way to say "Mandelbrot set"
That's what I felt when I played it first!
wicked....amazing how speed changes the feeling of the entire melody. Just goes to show how easy and how difficult it is to make great music...
懐かしすぎる!確かにRolandっぽいかも。この試みは、非常に興味深いので、もっとやってほしいと思います。ありがとうゴザイマス!
Chills down my spine at 0:58
I know, holy fuck
tears*
Yup, Richard D. James is one those to whom gods reveal their melodies - simple or not.
its called "the eureka moment" i had it too
I was in love with polynomial c and now I am obsessed with this!
Gave me chills.... This is incredible.
That synth
That lighting
That realnesss
1:34 melts my brain.
My heart is melting
Man I love this track
With great power comes great responsibility
Excellent arpeggio.
You clever bastard. Nice work
Just jammed it into my VL-Tone, not making anyone else in the house happy, but I am tripping on it - thanks!
God I love this so much ❤
lovely recreation!
El bálsamo Alberto.
I need to watch this video once a week
Why is it that this is just happiness to the ears ??
Amazing. Nice work gotta go try this out on my 101.

Pure Magic ✨
That filter is so beautiful
Awesome. This tune is so "underremixed". I would love to hear a piano version of it, if that's possible.

This has blown my mind
Amazing
I'm definitely trying this on my 101 tonight !
for someone new to music can someone tell me what he did with the button he was pressing? was that a looper?
Hey Jonathan, I was manually entering in the notes into the 101's built in sequencer. The button I kept pressing was the "Rest" button...essentially adding a rest note to the sequence.
@@wakisan thank you so much man I didnt think you'd reply cause this videos like 8 years old haha
Nice one!
Goosebumps.
I was waiting for the drums to kick in. :)
Wowwww thank you so much
I been messing with this tune on Maschine but not quite found the right sound for it yet.
This video is fantastic x
U get the hang of yet? Im trying too
thanks. it's running through Ableton Live's reverb. nothing crazy
It's almost like a heart beat
Magnífico
good effort
And then God said “let there be light”
Yesss
And then he said "let there be synth"
Very fun to reproduce thanks!
El Bálsamo Alberto.
I need one of these
..get in line & prepare to pay with your first born! XP
magic tricks should never be revealed!
Polynomial-C was made with a roland mc202
thanks. i was using a canon 5dm2
this rocks 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
GOOD JOB KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MABE YOU HAVE SOME ORIGNAL SONGS!!!!
I'm trying to understand how he came up with it?! is this just experimentation doesn't look like a particular scale.
You mean the sequence? It's just an arpeggio of the second inversion of an A major chord which then drops the A to a Ab/G# making it a 1st inversion C#m arpeggio. As for Scale, E major or A major
very nice!!!
I love my sh 101s!
...plural!?
Can you provide the notes required to draw in Ableton piano roll please. I want to use it to sequence my Ultranova synth.
All in 16th notes:
E4 A4 E4 A4 C#5 -- E4 A4 E4 A4 C#5 -- E4 A4 C#5 --
E4 A4 E4 A4 C#5 -- E4 A4 E4 A4 C#5 -- E4 A4 C#5 --
E4 G#4 E4 G#4 C#5 -- E4 G#4 E4 G#4 C#5 -- E4 G#4 C#5 --
E4 G#4 E4 G#4 C#5 -- E4 G#4 E4 G#4 C#5 -- E4 G#4 C#5 --
--- = rest
4 bars totaling 64 16th note steps.
Note: A4 is the one above E4, new octaves start on C. Also the whole thin might need to go up an octave.
How to do the 2nd octave change part?
You've got it !
What about the chord emphasis ?
Does anyone know about it ? It would really be instructive for me :)
I got the notes!!Fuck Yeah!!!
very cool
Lovely mate, cheers.
How do you know right where everything is supposed to go?
I sing this to my cat, but it goes:
Diddle diddle Dean
diddle diddle Dean
diddle diddle Dee
diddle diddle Dean
diddle diddle Dean
diddle diddle Dee
He doesn't care about polynomial D
Very nice :)
akai s612 sampler (& record player)

korg ds8 (8 part multitimbral 4 op fm synth)
commodore amiga to sequence everything

any old stereo/big speakers
Why is your keyboard not plugged into power?
What kind of reverb are you using on this?
Dunno but pretty sure the original used a Quadraverb
Nearly.
should humans be allowed to dilly dally with such forces?
Is that the Roland making those sounds? Or is the Roland just for MIDI?
Its the SH101. he's using the on board step sequencer to play the notes.
‘Err’s no MIDI on tha’ rig, boyo
fucking ace!
💖
NICE!
👌🏼
gets spooky around 1:06

kind of
genial
Cool!
You have very nice hands
Gay
!!!! shit , that's great
Sounds great! Quick question, what kind of camera are you using to record this video?
imo this wouldve been improved by a less-intense speed multiplier and longer multiplied-rate section
regardless it's good enough for me to like
beast
wow! It's philip glass tune ;)
That's Philip D. Glass to you young man!
Does anyone have the notes so I can recreate this masterpiece?
Watch the hands
Did you find it?
Nice!
Originally it's a mc 202, isn't it?
+Stanimir Kalchev no man...! this is its big brother.after this one roland began to make a more "consumer" devices, that would make "all" but were not very good in anything, like the mc 202, mc-505, thats why they are super cheap. at least mc 505. its time was the 90's techno, jungle, trip-hop

Nice reverb. What is it?
is not even close to the original sound....but do not try to do it the same ... I was going crazy.
too much resonance. should have pulse with sub -1oct at 25% PW
Only Rich knows the formular ;)
Too much reverb !
+so-what
not enough cowbell..
lol
Never
It's like the old people from the 1950's "why do they distort their guitars?!"
it is not
Nice try.
