I had Campylobacter back in the 70's from eatting a roast beef sandwich. I was working as a dental nurse at the time so couldn't go back to work until I had two clear samples. It took 12 weeks before I got those two clear samples! The bug can stay in your system much longer than a couple of weeks. I was in hospital for more than a week as I was so ill (in isolation) and very run down for about 6 months after. Not a fun thing to get.
