      I am not sure about other player, ive been playing bass for almost 20 years, profesional bass teacher for the past 10 years, got lucky to won a several local festival, i can not imagine how can a person can play bass in a most complicated technique not to mention his original arrangement is also masterpiece it was advance in so many level but still musical to listen, in my humble opinion charles is A BASS GOD.!!

    This one gave me chills! The technique needed to transition from harmonics into the individual notes that quickly is something people who have never played probably have no idea how hard that can be. Incredible.

I have been playing bass for 40 years and influenced by Jazz fusion players like Brian Bromberg, Marcus Miller, Abraham Laboriel, Freddie Washington, Victor Wooten, Nathan East, Stanley Clark, John Pattitucci, Vail Johnson. Charles.... you have surpassed all my legends as far a technique and incredible precision in different styles. Truly amazing work Charles. Keep it up. Love watching you play at a whole other level.

      I agree qikqbn77. I feel the same way. Charles is absolutely amazing and a master bass player at the highest skill level. It's difficult to compare so many greats (especially Wooten), but Charles is easily on the same level as the top bass players in history.

    I said it a couple weeks ago I’ll say it again: I don’t even play bass. I play guitar. For over 34 years. He makes me want to quit guitar. Not in a century of Sundays will I ever be that good at my instrument lol. Phenomenal. Generational talent.

      I realised recently that it's all down to theory which I know nothing of. I have the hand speed, pick coordination, independence in fretting fingers etc. I just need the theory to string the notes together 🤣🤣🤣🤣

      @@kelvinhopes8410 I’m with you on that lol. I never had the patience to properly learn theory either, and to this day it bugs me. Of course we can always learn it but it would sort of be like resetting a bone that already healed a certain way lol. I’ve actually won guitar contests, wrote all the music for my band and won battle of the band contests as well as selling my music to an NBA organization at one point. I’ve taught guitar for years as well. But I don’t even come close to the talent this young man has. There are SO many fantastic players out there. I usually try to be inspired to learn from it but sometimes it’s a bit depressing too lol. But I’m in awe of these great musicians all over the world and glad I can enjoy their art.

These days, I’m a dad with a lot more on my plate now and don’t have the time to do that anymore, but you’re right I could practice more than I do lol.

      @@timotheepetit I'd say in terms of creativity he'd fit pretty well, but Polyphia's musician balance right now is fantastic. They're bassist does a really amazing job at being a support instrument, while still adding a crap ton to the songs and being able to solo when necessary. I'd say the soloist in Charles might step on Scottie and Tim a little bit. I'd 100% wanna see him as a feature tho, getting his soloing would fit really well in that context, just not as well in a bassist context if that makes sense.

The difference with Berthoud is he's as technically skill yet so inspiring. He expands what you think a bass guitar can do. I pick it up more and more now where before it was only to fill in a mix. I never knew how fun it was to play bass!

    I'm absolutely enthralled and blown away by how much he put into this vid, I mean yeah I love this style on guitar, but a 6 string bass is even more enticing, I've always had a certain gravitation towards finger style guitar like tosin and henson, but on bass from someone like charles is outstanding
