I love how he pictures his wife as never aging. He loves her unconditionally and doesn’t notice her getting older. Absolutely beautiful and I personally see my wife the same way.
I don't think she's actually there. Whenever we see her younger self, it's in a flashback with his younger self. He's recreating a road trip he took with her decades before. The only time we see his older self with her is at the end with his eyes closed, and she's older with him. I always got the feeling she passed away and he's gone on this road trip as a memorial and what we see at the end as he closes his eyes is either her spirit or her memory, he loves her so much he's brought her with him. I like your version, though. It's not bittersweet like mine.

My grandma was quite crafty. Her cooking skills were amazing. She looked after me while my mum was working. Three hours ago my grandma passed away. She was 88. This song brings me some comfort.

Hands down the best song in this album. I met AWOL when I purchased their music kit in CS:GO; I realized that all the songs sound really good (despite having no lyrics there), then I searched them up on TH-cam and recognized each song from the parts I heard in the game as I started getting to know and loving them. AWOL has been my new favorite band since I first started listening their music. Such a shame they will probably never come to my country, I'd kill for playing the keyboard on Sail or getting to meet the band and singing with Aaron, hell, who am I kidding, even just seeing them live would be more than enough to make me burst into tears. The pain in a persons life, and the bravery to share it honestly with a world full of strangers, to me, is what makes an artist create great art. I feel this is a good example of that belief. I feel art, in all media, isn't something to be graded or judged, just enjoyed or not, but should always be appreciated. @@JohnnyNowhere might depend on what you do with that judgment i guess. like do you compare the other artists to your own art or do you simply judge where their skills are currently and where they might be in the future? like you can tell when someone is just starting out vs someone whose been really really working at it. I'm also an artist ... or i was... but lately i have lost my desire and motivation to the point where it hurts to even try because everything just looks so terrible and i don't have time to commit to finishing anything like i used to. and when i do finish a piece i think it looks awful and "why did i even bother?! I don't have any talent anymore!" When I was twelve or thirteen, I 'liked' everything that I heard on the radio, because I was led to believe if it got airplay, it must be 'good'. After being a songwriter/musician for fifty years however, I have learned to discriminate through a variety of filters.

Lord, that background music is fantastic! I was beginning to think they had lost their touch. This is like, first album good. Now I can't decide which is my favorite song, this one or Holy Roller.
The handsome older gentleman is Monte Markham. He used to be a television leading man back in the '70s. Worked with James Garner (Wyatt Earp) & Jason Robards (Doc Holliday) in the "Hour of the Gun", played the tragic cybernetic 7 Million Dollar Man on the old Six Million Dollar Man series and has done countless voiceover work in tons of historical documentaries. The handsome older gentleman is Monte Markham. He used to be a television leading man back in the '70s. Worked with James Garner (Wyatt Earp) & Jason Robards (Doc Holliday) in the "Hour of the Gun", played the tragic cybernetic 7 Million Dollar Man on the old Six Million Dollar Man series and has done countless voiceover work in tons of historical documentaries.
