Hey Captain, that looked like tons of fun for sure! Try this recipe next time…put your prepared filets (seasoned to taste) in a baking dish, and spread a mixture of sour cream and Parmesan cheese (mix it up in a bowl before spreading) and bake it till it starts to brown a little or about 10 minutes…take it out and let it cool for a few minutes and then eat with whatever side you prefer. This is the only way I have ever really liked Bluefish… if you try it, I hope you enjoy it…tight lines!!,
How much fun was that?! Brandon, you were like a kid in the candy store lol what a great way to spend the afternoon. Thanks for all the work you put into getting these amazing videos out to us, it is much appreciated! ❤🙏
Brings back memories. Used to sell them to local Asian fish houses to pay for gas on the trip. Bill Lewis rattle trap would catch em by the hundreds on those close yellow rigs!
Cap... as a Northeast Blue Fisherman the trick is bleed them, filet them same day and soak filets in whole milk for 24hrs... then cook em up.. up here on Long Island we catch them up to 18lbs , those little 2 and 3lb blues are the best eating..
Dolphin island back in the 70s was the destination on the coast . There was the Spyglass Inn and the Gulf State Park was the only 2 places to stay near Gulf shores There was nothing else there. The water was like Destin and plenty of big Conch shells. We had to leave the state park because of the roaches , but the Spy Glass in was nt any different .
We call em Tailor here in Australia. Same fish. I've eaten them my whole life and the main thing is to bleed them and eat them fresh. They turn to mush if you freeze them.
I bought me a new Garmin last year with side scan,l. Haven't really had a chance to learn how to use it. I don't have a trolling motor set up on my old Mako.
We get blue fish in the Chesapeake Bay all the time... Two ways we use them is fish cakes or smoked.. Both ways are great on the boat as a snack. You can snack on cold fish cakes with mustard and crackers or smoked fish bites straight from the Ziploc.....And yes you are correct always bleed them out. If you leave the blood bluefish will taste nasty before you hit the pier... By the way what happened? Why no Tanner!😂
Man y’all get some pretty big ones over there right? And both those ways sound awesome. I’m sure people who told me they were no good didn’t bleed them. Tanner’s always fishing somewhere either on someone else’s boat or with me lol
@@CaptCollier yeah we get some fairly large Blue fish in the Bay. I don't Target bluefish specifically. I come across them mostly when trolling for Rock. I try to get off of them as quick as I get on them. They're like piranhas, they rip my tackle up.. Tanner's new nickname is going to be Bobber. The Bobber is the one piece of equipment that always seems to be with you no matter where your fishing....lol
how late in the year can you fish before it starts to get cold up there? I know you can fish all year like but it's not like down here where I'm in in SW FL where it's 70-80 in Jan and you can still go out in shorts and t-shirt.
We don’t really have a fall or winter . Not to say we don’t have cold days, but it could be 35-40 degrees one day and 70 the next. Even on our coldest days it usually warms up to 45-50 by noon.
On the grill wrapped in foil with onion, garlic and lemon. Tasty! Fun catching them blues. Once was wade fishing the surf and got chased onto the beach when a huge school came through. 😂
Fried or blackened fish sandwiches for Blue fish. Dont eat it straight up. Its best on a sandwich with some sweet or red onion and some home made tartar sauce. Been eatin them like that ever since a cook in Mexico recommended it.
I was trying to figure out if that was your wife or daughter! I'm going with wife. Those instant potatoes are pretty good too. They have a crap ton of flavors and are really good when you are camping or just to have as backup bugout food in the pantry!
New to your channel…..what’s your location? The Blues we catch where I used to fish off south Jersey didn’t taste that great. Maybe a 4 out of 10. I’m in Melbourne Fla now.
Dauphin island, Al. It was surprisingly decent. Ofcourse I wouldn’t have it over the other tasty species we have but I definitely wouldn’t turn my head away for some more
It is funny, when you tied on the top water I was thinking it would be neat if you caught a Spanish. I wish you would have done a side by side comparison between the Spanish and the Bluefish. The Spanish would have blown the bluefish out of the water. I really think bluefish need to sit in some type of marinade. There is a TH-cam channel called Cooking with Clams. He did bluefish about a week or so ago and it looked pretty good.
HOW OLD IS THIS VIDEO? THE WIND LOOKS LIKE IT WAS PRETTY LOW. I KNOW I HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO GET MY SKIFF OUT FOR A LONG TIME BECAUSE OF HIGH WINDS EVERDAY!
Alright, let me try this again, maybe you can understand it this time. But I can't even understand it. I'm the one that spoke to text, okay, okay, after you clean your fish season 8 for a first backup, have you cleaned your face? You soaked the filet and buttermilk. That helps pull out the taste to bad tasten. You see you soon, and you normally do your fish. And it's best to do this on the grill. As really, the only way this recipe will work. You'll get you some Cedar planks. And you get ready to cook the fish you put. The fish flies on the Cedar pines. Cook it to it's flaky and completely done. And you get ready-to-eat scrape the fish into the trash and eat the Cedar Planks
Brother, I have the absolute hands down. Best recipe in the world for them. Bitch the best on the grill. You take the hourly season to get it seasonville. Good, and this is that you've said it. And that it's soaked overno buttermilk, it does better. It pulls out the bad bad taste. Then you're making Cedar planks, you'ret your fish when you're really pretty hungry, you put it on the sugar planks, you put it on the gbill for about 5 minutes at the maroon 510 minutes, you're gonna have to bring it to us how big. The fish is, and when you're sure it's done. Take it out, walk over to the table. Push the fish down and hour and then when you're ready-to-eat. Pick up the fish, graped the fish in the trash and eat the Cedar planks.
Smaller cocktail blues make for great fish dip or fish cakes.
I’ll have to try that next time

Sounds pretty good, I’ll screenshot and try it some other time! I’m sure it’s good with other fish as well, thanks 🤙🏻

Great vid Capt! Next time try them rolled in cornmeal and fried in peanut oil, they will never be a cobia or flounder, but they are decent!
Will do. I know we talked about them before being alright to eat so I had to give it a shot for myself lol
We call em Tailor here in Australia. Same fish. I've eaten them my whole life and the main thing is to bleed them and eat them fresh. They turn to mush if you freeze them.
Love watching your videos, I've learned a lot from you. Will be at Dauphin Island next week for 3-4 days, hope to see you on the water
Lots of fun. Thank you sir.
You won me over. I love catch, clean, cook vids. Wish you had gotten the cobia.
Great video... love the topwater action!
Hey Captain if u soak them blue fish overnight in Louisiana hot sauce n garlic powder then fry them up golden brown they will be delicious.
Singing this blues
Fried blue fish is very good. Just bleed good, then slather in mustard. Then fry in your favorite coreal mix. Try it! Great video by the way!
Thanks for the tip, I’ll try that next time. Sounds like a great fish for a big fish fry

Allways a good time and tight lines with Captain Brandon!
Great job as always !!!!
Preciate it!
I love some fried blue fish. Wouldn't choose it over much, but when that's all I catch, I like it pretty well.

Nice video Brandon! Looks like you had a lot of fun 😎😎
Thanks! I did for sure.
Dude. Keep some more of those blues. Keep the skin on and smoke them. Then use them in a dip like you would a king. It's pretty good!
On the grill wrapped in foil with onion, garlic and lemon. Tasty! Fun catching them blues. Once was wade fishing the surf and got chased onto the beach when a huge school came through. 😂
Haha I bet they did run you off! They are like saltwater piranhas
@@CaptCollier yessir, I was on the beach jumping just like all the bait they chased up. Wild moment!
I have never eaten blue fish. I heard grilling allows the oils go into the grill.

A good honest review
I was trying to figure out if that was your wife or daughter! I'm going with wife. Those instant potatoes are pretty good too. They have a crap ton of flavors and are really good when you are camping or just to have as backup bugout food in the pantry!
yes that is my wife. She looks alittle young for her age lol and oh yea, simple and easy

I tried Bluefish for the first time last week. They are good eating, bleed them out and cut the blood line out. I wont throw them back anymore.
Yep that is key! That’s probably why people said they weren’t good because they wasn’t dispatched and prepared right
Hey capn Collier that was a nail biter there when those cobia started chasing, OH well maybe tomorrow take care man.
That would have been a first cobia on the popper for me! Would have been cool but we’ll get em next time
Just bought a 7'' Sord Knife and got a free hat too!

Whats a good wind app to use ? Thanks for the help
I use fish weather and windfinder. Im pretty sure they both go off the same stations though
Nice 💥💯💯🔥🔥🎯🎯🎯🎣🎣🎣👍🏿👍🏿
I appreciate it!
We typically cut the tail on most fish to help them bleed out fully
Try smoking or pickle them. my good friend used to shread them in tomato sauce. tasted like crab.
you frying with a skillet too but great video
How’s the Merc doing? You said all good at 300 hours. Just curious.
Flawless. No issues. Just hit 302 hours
Good little video. I can do without eating blue fish. Make great chum though. lol
Thanks man, I had to atleast give em a try lol
What wind app do you use
Windfinder, Fishweather, and NOOA Data. Generally if its showing 12-15+mph winds I stay inshore
Call them tailor in Australia. Very fun fish
Interesting. Is it the same fish just called a different name?
@@CaptCollier yeah. Yeah they are identical fish. Behaviour and look. And also considered trash fish in Australia. Mostly used for mulloway bait.
How can we get the merch that you have. Like hat and shirt.
You can order through here, thanks!
captcollierscharters.com/shop
They make goodsmoked fish dip
blue fish = fish tacos (heavy on the seasoning) ;-)
Smoke them if you don't have AJs or mackerel. They are good that way.
I didn’t think about that. I bet they are good smoked. Better yet, smoked bluefish dip!
She's a keeper...😅
Yes she is 😎
Ur wife is a looker 💪👍
Haha thanks
@@CaptCollier welcome 😂
I like them, pan, seared or blackened
Bluefish is better smoked, they are oily and mushy but not bad smoked and turned into a fish dip. Tight lines and screaming drags!
I completely forgot about smoking them. I bet that would be good
🤘

Those things are like ocean pirennas. Think I spelled that wrong.. lol😂
I think so too, but I know what you meant lol but yes they were ridiculous
These fish are great fried
I figured they would be!
Bluefish...not pretty meat but not too bad if it's fresh.
If you don't Yeat it, you don't eat it.
😂😂
KEEP YOUR INE TITE , ROLL TIDE ROLLLLLLL 🇺🇸
You should smoke them
I’ll try that next time

Fish tacos 🌮 would be good 👍 🤔
Oh yes!
