I beg to differ...but it wasn't her fault. She's a fine actress but I sat there in the theater looking a an older actress play a young one and my eyes and mind was not convinced one bit. The spell of the movie was lost for me right there! I wanted to walk out but I stayed on only to see wonderful actors put in rolls that had zero chemistry! I was completely disappointed!
@@hectoralers84 wow, i disagree with you completely. I think she did manage to appear much younger. I think they did a decent job with the characterisation of young Amy: dresses that made her look flat chested and childish hairstyles, more like a girl vs 20-yo Amy who's starting to become a woman. I also think you get to see her development. Let's not forget that many 12-yo girls are already quite developed, so it's not like she was playing a 7 yo.
@@hectoralers84 I mean, I can also see your side, don't get me wrong. Knowing the actress and maybe having some preconceived idea before going into the movie might set you up for disappointment.
She didn't need to murder this role but she did. Not to mention the chemistry between Timothee and Florence is insane, they managed to absolutely bring Little Women to a younger audience.
@Haya salem You mean the movie this scene is from? Little Women, it's in the title. It's a movie adaptation of the book Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.
"the love I feel for Amy it's different" that's the line that makes it make sense. Those too sisters couldn't be more different, so Amy can therefore reach a different part of him, touch him in a different way. She wasn't a replacement of Jo, she was something new. God I want to like Any, she's so cool and confident and artistic and she knows herself so well. But she BURNT JO'S BOOK goddamit!
I wonder why people always wish 12yo to act like 10 years beyond their age... that’s still a growing age... yeah, your siblings might be saints but not all 12yo are like that
I kinda understand why she did it, I don’t really like Jo, she was mean to Amy and everyone loved Jo despite everything. I understand Amy for that, people tend to love or accept people that did questionable things my whole life, I kinda identify myself with her. Anyway, I still understand that what Amy did wasn’t good.
I think many people keep forgetting about how young and hurt she was after Jo basically said "no one wants you there!" trust me hearing that from someone you love especially YOUR FAMILY will haunt you for the rest of your life, she was hurt so in return, she found a way to hurt Jo by burning her book which successfully did. Then when she saw how hurt Jo was, she realized how childish she was, she admitted her intentions and apologize because she realized that hurting her sister not going to make her feel better, if anything it hurt her twice THAT WHAT SHE LEARNED AND PEOPLE STILL HATING HER FOR ACTUALLY HAVE A GOOD ARC Note that Amy didn't get mad at meg, because she dismissed Amy gently, not bitterly and also if you have more than 1 sister you'll understand how sisters rivalry happen
I think the underlying feeling and connection to Jo just shows how much she represents the people watching, to the point where they almost feel like the character. So because of this, they wanted her to end up with Laurie. Though I really wanted Laurie and Jo to be together (because of the relationship they had as friends), I’ve come to terms with the fact that you’re just dismissing Jo’s feelings, SHE DIDN’T LOVE HIM. Even with Laurie, he wanted a mature and grounded relationship with her, but all Jo wanted was a companion where they could have childlike fun. She simply wasn’t ready to grow up! I know everyone was in love with Laurie, but at the end of the day, Jo wasn’t, Keep that in mind before you whine about how they should’ve been together :)
Not wanting to play the role of a rich man's wife is very different from not wanting to grow up. Jo wanted to be an adult, to paddle her own canoe as they say, to be independent. That is very grown up. She just didn't want to be a society wife. And she loved Laurie, but was not "in love" with him.
The bg music really highlighted the essence of Amy in the story. She's like the sister that is too passionate, true and over all elegant in ways people like Amy can recognize
Very profound and authentic. Emotions are a big part of a video and this was beautfully done, a character profoundly portrayed. This is what I love in video editing. I can't wait to see other videos Octavia, you edit with the heart and understand the character. Magnificent ! Love this and you 💕
okay I HATED the Amy/Laurie twist in the WInona Ryder and Christian Bale version but this movie really did a good job of building towards it rather than throwing it in out of nowhere... like I actually ship it....
Yeah, but the 1994 version was better. It captured the story more true to the book, and explained the family’s beliefs and values in a way that you understand them better. Beth’s death was much more tragic too, whereas in this version it almost seems like a subplot when it most certainly wasn’t in the novel. It was the catalyst that propels Jo to write Little Women. Marme was played better as well. Just my opinion.
I love lauri and amy so much, They're such a good pair. I like the actors who played them too. They stole my attention, literally read the book just for them.
I didn’t read the books so I’m just going off of this movie but idk how people can ship Jo and Laurie. They literally had like nothing in common meanwhile Amy and Laurie basically run in the same circle. Idc what any one says, Laurie did not love Jo he was just infatuated with the idea of her. 🤷🏻♀️

I felt the same way. though i have not read the book, i think in this movie i can see why Laurie fall in love with Amy. somehow to me it makes sense as many people like to be challenged. Even though they have very little intension to be changed but fall for the person who cares enough to push them to change for better. it sounds paradoxical but it is often noticed among boys. same goes for girls falling for bad boys more often than to fall for good ones. it is my take from the movie or at least how I interpreted it. 😇😁

But I forced myself to read ur comment, and I get it yet I don’t because I am that girl that gets with bad guys , and maybe that’s exactly why I don’t understand it and it gets me so mad
I love this idea! In the movie, I think Laurie feels love for Jo in the way that children do whereas he loves Amy in a more mature way. Childhood love never goes away, but it also doesn't necessarily lead anywhere. When you're adults, romantic love can lead to commitment, marriage, etc. Laurie has loved Jo in the same way all his life. When Jo rejected him, he handled it badly and hit self-destruct. He reacted like a child throwing a tantrum. But Laurie grew to love Amy. When Amy (temporarily) rejected him, he decided to be there for her even if she despised him (which she didn't 😄). He reacted like a mature adult instead of holding a grudge. That's what makes his love for Amy different!
@@jessicarao1490 totally agree. I believe that Jo's character in "Little Women" didn't address Laurie's main flaw, which was a lack of direction and meaning in life. Amy, on the other hand, pushed him to be more responsible and brought attention to his shortcomings. It is quite clear why that is as Jo didn't view Laurie as a romantic partner and bring out both of their flaws to point out the reasons why it wouldn't work only when he proposed to her. Amy, in her interactions, encouraged Laurie to be more responsible and showed concern for his well-being, even in the smallest of ways. This dynamic between Jo and Laurie compared to Amy and Laurie highlights the different approaches each took in their relationships.
This is such a great video. Little women breaks my heart in so many ways. 😭 I always felt like it should have been Jo but Amy has a whole other story and it sucks that their happiness hinges on the other’s hurt.
I always thought that Laurie shifted his love for Jo to Amy. Like he needed to b part of the family. Jo knew too well that they had different interests and she would b bored with Laurie. But Laurie never understood it. I think he finally decided to love someone who loved him back coz he knew how hard it was for him to get over Jo. Laurie loved Jo organically but with Amy he had to work for it and that made Amy feel better. The author just wanted to give Laurie a happy ending and let me belong to that family that he loved so much.

For me I think Laurie needed Amy in order to grow up. Jo was his childhood best friend, and with her he would have remained a child. But Amy challenged him to take responsibility, learn to love again, and care about the needs of others. Plus, they both have artistic dreams and desires that they eventually have to put aside to make the world a better place. They have money (because Laurie went into business and Amy helped him manage it), and they use it to help other people. I think in the books it seemed strange at first because it went directly against the stereotype, we all thought Jo would marry Laurie or stay single. Instead she married... an old dude? I think that the movies dealt with this SO WELL because they developed Laurie and Amy from the beginning, showed how Jo and Laurie would have drove each other crazy, and had an ending where Jo didn't REALLY marry the professor. She wrote it into the book in order for it to sell, but in the end we see that she never gave up her artistic dreams for the love the way both Laurie and Amy did. That's why Amy and Laurie work well together, and Jo was meant to be single. Lol sorry for all that, I just have a lot of feelings :)
