I say who cares, Canadians coming together to address things they feel are unjust, is part of our history. How many Protest in Canadians history has had such a huge turn out? This obviously is not solely unvacinated people behind this movement. Liberalism is supposed to bring a voice to the minority, and allow freedom of choice, and be against discrimination, I love all people no matter what race, sex, gender or Vaccination status, but Canadians are calling them "plague rats" and the term is trending online. This is horrible and dangerous rhetoric that was actually used in 1940 Germany, and the posters with that term printed on them exists today still in archives.

On October 29, the US Department of Homeland Security issued a notice that beginning on January 22 all non-Americans would need to be fully vaccinated and provide proof thereof to enter the US. That gave anyone who needed to travel to the US 12 weeks - plenty of time - to get themselves fully vaccinated.

They are just trying to find a way to get things back to normal, to get the economy back on track. That can't happen with a highly contagious and deadly virus running amok because most people aren't willing to risk their lives to eat at a restaurant or go to a movie. Masks and social distancing, while effective, are only temporary measures. The way out of this is the same way we have eradicated many diseases before: vaccinations. The vaccines for SARS-CoV-2 are safe and effective. 83% of Canadians eligible for vaccination are fully vaccinated. We're quietly, patiently waiting for the last 17% to do their part so we can reach herd immunity. And then we see this convoy and protest making nonsensical demands, consorting with Nazis, waving Trump flags, chanting "USA, USA, USA!", and doing other disgraceful things. And we're just flabbergasted. "Who are these people? What do they want? Why are they so misinformed and angry?" The government has a responsibility to protect the public health. The willingly unvaccinated are not a protected minority. They have made a choice to not be vaccinated. They have made a choice to forgo the best tool available to stopping this virus. They have made a choice to prolong the social and economic suffering of all Canadians.

I say who cares, Canadians coming together to address things they feel are unjust, is part of our history. Just because there is a Protest I dont agree with, doesn't mean they dont have a right to do it, and I certainly wouldn't discriminate against them. How many Protest in Canadians history has had such a huge turn out? This obviously is not solely unvacinated people behind this movement. Liberalism is supposed to bring a voice to the minority, and allow freedom of choice, and be against discrimination, I love all people no matter what race, sex, gender or Vaccination status, but Canadians are calling them "plague rats" and the term is trending online. On October 29, the US Department of Homeland Security issued a notice that beginning on January 22 all non-Americans would need to be fully vaccinated and provide proof thereof to enter the US. That gave anyone who needed to travel to the US 12 weeks - plenty of time - to get themselves fully vaccinated.

Masks and social distancing, while effective, are only temporary measures. The way out of this is the same way we have eradicated many diseases before: vaccinations. The vaccines for SARS-CoV-2 are safe and effective. 83% of Canadians eligible for vaccination are fully vaccinated. We're quietly, patiently waiting for the last 17% to do their part so we can reach herd immunity. And then we see this convoy and protest making nonsensical demands, consorting with Nazis, waving Trump flags, chanting "USA, USA, USA!", and doing other disgraceful things. And we're just flabbergasted. "Who are these people? What do they want? Why are they so misinformed and angry?"
The government has a responsibility to protect the public health. The willingly unvaccinated are not a protected minority. They have made a choice to not be vaccinated. They have made a choice to forgo the best tool available to stopping this virus. They have made a choice to prolong the social and economic suffering of all Canadians.
