The people behind these productions know what they're doing and they know who to cast. Well mostly because its teen romance and, well the characters in the book are around 17~18 while he looks older. I just watch it till the end and nothing really bad about it, The actors really suits to be the characters they protrayed.
You see, the movies are not that bad because you only get to see Bella, but you do not get to be in her head except for the very few narrations she has. The whole book is written in first person, thus we only have access to Bella's thoughts and how she sees the world. Let me tell you this thing - nothing pleases her. If you want to read somebody who does a good job at showing just how bad of a protagonist Bella is, search on google "how do you like these apples twilight" and click on the very first website. The person reviewed every single chapter of every single Twilight book and did an excellent job at showing the book's every flaw.
1.) Character development and plot devices were inconsistent and severely underdeveloped (i.e. certain characters or plot devices are only there for the sake of progression but the author/ director fail to bring it up later on in the franchise or vice versa) 2.) the relationship between the two protagonists was viewed through rose coloured glasses- viewed as romantic and sexy when in reality its abusive and creepy. This isn't a huge problem as we see this a lot in literature however, since the target audience is young teenagers, its pretty much showing them that these types of relationships are normal and healthy when they are not. 3.) The vampires are not even real vampires, like the author did not go into any archetypes that have been explored about this. Despite Edward calling himself a monster from time to time, there is literally nothing "demonic" as what you would see in Anne Rice or Bram Stoker's vampires with the "Cold ones" 4.) The character of Bella Swan is a Mary Sue- often a dead giveaway of terrible writing and editing 5.) Extremely cheesy and gross dialogue that makes me want to rip out my intestines. There are a lot more reasons but these are the main reasons why
Re: Pattinson's "axe murderer" reply. He has an excellent point. I never understood the concept of Bella loving a creature that wanted to eat her for lunch. It's like being in love with a shark. You might love that shark and even be able to pet it, but when it gets hungry or goes in a feeding frenzy it's going to eat you.
It could’ve worked if it were portrayed as being an unhealthy relationship built on fear, but it wasn’t. Meyer set out to write a gothic thriller, which was obvious by the setting and the lavish descriptions, but twilight was so fucking boring. Nothing happens for 300 pages and we’re stuck in the head of someone with no goals. She’s seventeen and I don’t even think Bella had ideas for colleges she would like to go to or what she wanted to do in the future. If twilight was a horror novel or some kind of psychological thriller it would’ve been awesome. Such wasted potential.

Hey a lot of people hated Michael Keaton when he was announced as batman and now he's considered the best batman by a lot of people.
Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, Chris Hemsworth, Zachary Levi, Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, Ben Affleck, etc. All of these were casting choices that the internet circlejerked about being horrible choices but were nowhere to be found after the movies released. The people behind these productions know what they're doing and they know who to cast. On top of that, the only hate is people saying he "needs to beef up" which is stupid and redundant because that's literally going to be in his contract, and the other people are ONLY basing their knowledge of him from Twilight. They haven't seen a single movie he's been in otherwise. He will be a great Batman.

Well mostly because its teen romance and, well the characters in the book are around 17~18 while he looks older. I mean acting some sappy teen romance thst makes you cringe, well I wouldn't like that either. But the book was actually enjoyable, not a masterpieces, far from that, but it wasn't as bad as it seems. I mean its teen romance what do you expect from it?! Good plot and perfectly developed characters? Nah this is fantasy and stupid thinks girls thought about when they were younger. Romance with a beautiful guy that was stronger then you that would protect you all the time and shower you with love and affection, it won't have good fight scenes or mistery. It will be basic teen romance, you can't really expect much from it.

I just watch it till the end and nothing really bad about it, The actors really suits to be the characters they protrayed.
You see, the movies are not that bad because you only get to see Bella, but you do not get to be in her head except for the very few narrations she has. The whole book is written in first person, thus we only have access to Bella's thoughts and how she sees the world. Let me tell you this thing - nothing pleases her. If you want to read somebody who does a good job at showing just how bad of a protagonist Bella is, search on google "how do you like these apples twilight" and click on the very first website. The person reviewed every single chapter of every single Twilight book and did an excellent job at showing the book's every flaw.

1.) Character development and plot devices were inconsistent and severely underdeveloped (i.e. certain characters or plot devices are only there for the sake of progression but the author/ director fail to bring it up later on in the franchise or vice versa)
2.) the relationship between the two protagonists was viewed through rose coloured glasses- viewed as romantic and sexy when in reality its abusive and creepy. This isn't a huge problem as we see this a lot in literature however, since the target audience is young teenagers, its pretty much showing them that these types of relationships are normal and healthy when they are not.
3.) The vampires are not even real vampires, like the author did not go into any archetypes that have been explored about this. Despite Edward calling himself a monster from time to time, there is literally nothing "demonic" as what you would see in Anne Rice or Bram Stoker's vampires with the "Cold ones"
4.) The character of Bella Swan is a Mary Sue- often a dead giveaway of terrible writing and editing
5.) Extremely cheesy and gross dialogue that makes me want to rip out my intestines.
There are a lot more reasons but these are the main reasons why

It could’ve worked if it were portrayed as being an unhealthy relationship built on fear, but it wasn’t. Meyer set out to write a gothic thriller, which was obvious by the setting and the lavish descriptions, but twilight was so fucking boring. Nothing happens for 300 pages and we’re stuck in the head of someone with no goals. She’s seventeen and I don’t even think Bella had ideas for colleges she would like to go to or what she wanted to do in the future. If twilight was a horror novel or some kind of psychological thriller it would’ve been awesome. Such wasted potential.
