Shoutout to our sponsor Notion! Try it for free here: ntn.so/jossandjanik
This tool helps us a lot to stay organized, like a few months ago when we needed to gather all the documents for Joss' visa. We hope you guys love it as much as we do!

Gosh, I hope you get your passport renewed, Joss. Wouldn't be able to travel to other countries without it.

I'm going through the same shit rn :') I'd been waiting for the Migrationsamt to answer for 8 months and finally got a response after getting a lawyer involved 😅 Now I have finally started the process which is still gonna take long... they're so annoying 😂

If you are married to a German, doesn’t that give you the right to live with him in Germany! That’s so weird to know

Under EU law yes. But can be pain to prove in the individual European country from a paperwork point of view. I was almost denied boarding on a flight with my EU husband because at the time I did not have EU passport. Only when manager in back did research , she came out and said I was right. Sometimes local officials do not know the EU law and that is where u run into problems on daily basis. U need the paperwork to get yourself out of weird situations where people are ignorant.

Once you are married to a German it‘s quite easy to obtain German citizenship. My Mexican did it about a year or two after we got married, wasn’t a big deal not even a test was required. And since the Mexican government wouldn’t let her out of her Mexican citizenship, she now has two passports (her Mexican one expired about a decade ago but she never renewed it since the costs are pretty high if you live abroad. Using the German passport abroad is more convenient though).

The equivalent of the Fxxxxxxx is called “recepisse “ in France… and I lived with one for ONE YEAR since my visa was not ready during all this time so sorry but I dont think Germany is the king of burocracy… FRANCE IS! (In Europe at least) 😅😅

Suerte.

I'm very fortunate that after I moved to Munich on a Blue Card work visa that I got an Auslanderbehörde appointment for an Aufenhaltstitel 6 weeks after submitting my documents. Then got my Aufenhaltstitel 7 weeks after my appointment. But I have colleagues that started and moved before me that still don't have an appointment and no Fiktional visa.

    • @morbvsclz

In their case yes, I agree. But the law has to be same for anyone. And citizenship afaik is never granted just as part of a marrying a citizen, only a residence permit. Citizenship can be applied for later at some point.
Sham marriages are extremely wide spread, so there are rules in place to prevent those. Don't ask me what they are exactly, but afaik there's even things like visiting the married couple at home unannouced in the early morning to check if they are actually living together or are just married on paper, questioning the neighbors, asking both partners seperate from one another how and where they met, what their hopes and dreams as couple are etc.
There are often cases where for example a German get's payed like 20-50k € to marry someone, then pretend to live together until permanent residence is granted and then they go their separate ways.
So I see why citizenship would not be granted just like that, but I still don't see why everything has to be so unnecessarily complicated and painfully slow...

The residence process for family reunification must go through during the first 90 days after entering the European Union, embassies always recommend making an appointment at the migration office of the city where you are going to live in Germany at the time of issuing the visa. , to avoid the expiration of the visa and have to carry out the process from scratch.

Well, why don’t you use the right of free movement within the EU. Move for three month to another EU Country an give Germany the finger. Just Google it: Freizügigkeit innerhalb der EU. When you come back to Germany she will receive a 5 Year Visa without the any other requirements such as A1 or something. I know what I’m talking about, my did. the same with my non EU wife
