I had a blast doing this run! Thanks for the opportunity. Sorry to hear the audio wasn't the best but hopefully the run was enjoyable regardless! Much love
Peanutphobia Was about to ask if you were THE melee peanut! Absolute mad respect for being able to play one of the tightest characters and run one of the tightesg games
Dude, I gotta say, this was alot of fun to watch! SMB and SMB2 were a big part of growing up with the GameCube for me, and when I was nine I even tried to make a few youtube videos of the game on this channel XD (just showcasing minigames, I'm trash). I'm sure alot of people don't realize how hard these games truly are until they play them, and I just wanted to say that you and Miles are amazing for being able to pull these tricks off so consistently :D I can't believe I used to think I was cool for being able to beat SMB1 Intermediate XD Hope to be able to see another Super Monkey Ball run from you at the next GDQ!
Watching this game me such a nostalgic feeling. I used to play this all the time as a kid, I loved the game. Makes me want to go back and play it again.
*Sees World 7* *Confused Screaming Intensifies* I honestly don't know if I love or hate World 7. I have a mixture of fond and dreadful memories, most of which are both at the same time. This world certainly taught me how to observe a game.
I was watching an archive of Vinny from Vinesauce streaming this game. He said that if we liked what we saw, we should go check out a speedrun of the game. I am honestly in awe at a few of these feats.
I tried doing some of these levels just for fun (I'm a casual player) and some of these are downright impossible. Like at 14:30 I can't even get over the lip after I hit it. I always bounce off. Kudos to runners who can do this crazy shit consistently
@@ArcryoshiI know this comment is 5 years old, but... The original Amusement Vision team all went on to make Yakuza and no subsequent studio and game ever managed to capture the unique game design principles and aesthetic that made these games so transcendent. Generally too simplistic with a more sterile art style and spirit. It's hard to blame them because the games are so distinctly exceptional, but if you want more in the true spirit of the original games. you should find some of the more popular Monkey Ball ROM hacks, particularly hacks like Super Monkeyed Ball, Super Monkey Ball Gaiden and Super Monkey Ball Stardust.
Well we got a remake. It's not that bad if you give it a chance but the last 3 world's are just bs not for being hard but getting the champion medals on them
31:15 isn't it possible to clib the edge of this wall early on this stretch to boost you forward? it seems dangerous, but I'm pretty sure you could save a lot of time with the right placement.
I don't know, you could probably clip the wall and slam into the side of the goal, let the wal slide past and away, then just get in. That, or at the very least, get used to the timing of the wall so you can slalom down that stretchand time when you're in the center to avoid the wall. Anything for a bit of extra speed. the former strat I feel could be viable with enough practice, and the latter would be fairly easy.
Yeah, world 4 corresponds roughly with the end of the Advanced levels, and world 5 has some of the first Expert levels in it, so it's much easier than W4.
Late reply, you might know this now, but I'll say it anyway. They pause buffer to make some frame perfect inputs to beat levels fast. Each time he pauses, the game advance one frame, so once he's on the right frame, he changes direction.
On challenge mode, they try to get the bonus goals to skip levels. On story mode, you just take the fastest goal, because bonus goals only give points in story mode.

you didnt do your homework
Peanutphobia Wow, you did this? I never knew people could do a speed run back then, Lol
THANK GOD MY FAVORITE RUN IN EVERY AGDQ HAS THE WORST AUDIO MIXING
Nothong like watching someone casually beat levels that were the bane of my 12 year old existence.
Watching this game me such a nostalgic feeling. I used to play this all the time as a kid, I loved the game. Makes me want to go back and play it again.

I wonder what that guy in the front said the whole time.
Pretty sure that's the mask in Clams Casino's music video for "I Am God"
Maybe others? Not sure.
Great runner and nice relaxed commentary. These games are a blast to watch
these games are so mesmerizing to watch done well
The music is too quiet. Can they make it louder?
LOL great music tho ;)
They need to crank that up

Paradox Master You should really see one of Geoff's runs. His multitasking is amazing and he basically talks the whole time.
I also watched this after seeing Vinny's stream!
You will never beat this, Vinny
he plays killer queen black the same. Amazing
9:39- introduction
10:22 - run
That is some loud game volume
It took them 38 minutes to turn the fucking volume down lol
10:21 thank me after having your childhood of super monkey ball 2 and the cursed "soft cream" being crushed beneath your very feet
I tried doing some of these levels just for fun (I'm a casual player) and some of these are downright impossible. Like at 14:30 I can't even get over the lip after I hit it. I always bounce off. Kudos to runners who can do this crazy shit consistently
Man these two games are fucking incredible, so sad SMB isn't a well respected IP at this point anymore.
doobi Why?
doobi If only AV was still around...

This run was exciting to watch. The music in the game is really nice as well
Man, I love this game so much, the music, humor and everything. How hard would it be to make SMB3 on the PS4? Seriously. C'mon Sega.
Aaron "Ehhhh but its not Sonic" - Sega 2017
Well we got a remake. It's not that bad if you give it a chance but the last 3 world's are just bs not for being hard but getting the champion medals on them
Holy crap...he beat those first two worlds faster than my run of the first six freaken levels.
Mega Fudge it ain't called a speed run for nothing
Cody Turner thats true
Xanadu melee scene where you at?
Cototo Alegría iiii8
amazing game to see speed ran
When I was younger, I was never able to beat this game all because of world 10. 10-9 was impossible, and 10-10 was damn close
The memories
Fantastic run!
why dosnt GDQ do these types of events anymore
you beat the whole game in the time it would take me to beat the first world jeez
This guy is a wizard
Thanks you
This guy plays melee too I think
Arthropod and Labyrinth are both easier with glitches (for a casual) than the intended path.
not sure if they read this but the in game sound was way too loud
I just watched this entire video without skipping anything. What am I doing with my life? I dont even play super monkeyball.
31:15 isn't it possible to clib the edge of this wall early on this stretch to boost you forward? it seems dangerous, but I'm pretty sure you could save a lot of time with the right placement.
maybe TAS could get a frame for it , but would be highly impossible

WR strats get a boost off the Sieve
do what now?
Vinny's death reel alone took two and a half hours
Yeah, world 4 corresponds roughly with the end of the Advanced levels, and world 5 has some of the first Expert levels in it, so it's much easier than W4.
Gerudo Valley before the run starts?
Can someone explain why he pauses a few times around 17:49? I noticed this on a couple of other runs as well
Late reply, you might know this now, but I'll say it anyway.

21:23 I MUST GO
*MY PEOPLE NEED ME*
Professor Heavy XD
Why do they have to show the ten minutes of setup?
Why are there different strats for the same level? (Story mode, and challenge mode)
On challenge mode, they try to get the bonus goals to skip levels. On story mode, you just take the fastest goal, because bonus goals only give points in story mode.
I JUST FIGURED OUT BAD-BOONS PUN AFTER 10 YEARS OH MY ACTUAL GOD
Can’t here anyone talk
Ready......!?
gt4thomas *G O O O O!!!!*
Who's the guy on the left of the couch?
All the bananas fell from the sky....
(*so many bruised bananas.....*)
Shoutouts to SimpleFlips.
*Looks for the Switch Inferno level*
The world three music reminds me of the amalgamate music from Undertale.
i can't hear anything they're saying.
Why does he keep pausing and continuing the game in some stages?
It's called a pause buffer, it lets him set his position more accurately to do a small frame window trick.
Yoooo peanutphobia? He has the sickest yoshi
such a pain to watch with him exiting and resetting at teh end of each level
Hold up, did you say triangles?
Clever
I could barely hear them talking XD
"And if I have one min-".... "No, Ok"
4-6 for me is still impossible
I am bad at games
