Salons, haibo🙆🏾they just pull your hair, i dont think most have had proper training in blow drying, overheat, they burn 🔥 your hair. They untangle by just pulling it with a comb thus breaking your hair. If your going goal growing your hair, avoid salons, especially for washing, do it yourself 💗
You make me confident in the decisions i made about my hair. I was doing really good and my hair was doing great around 2020 to 2023. Then salons happened and now i need to cut it. My family is super against me cutting it, the length over health heretic is still adamant, but i wanna love it cox its mine.
Hey, I’m sorry about that 🥺 Sometimes it takes certain experiences to make us think “enough is enough!” You can always cut it more frequently until it’s all back to health or do a big cut and then put it into a protective style. ❤️
Zinhle where have you been all my life mara...?!!! The salon TRAUMA you would have saved me. I let people play on my head for far too long because I absolutely didnt know any better and would change salons all the time. I have daughters now and I will definately not put them through that. Mistakes were made but with you in our lives now we will do better. Your mom is lucky to have you as her personal hairstylist😊
I don't bother with salons any more. Learnt to care for my hair myself and that includes doing basic hairstyles like braids (without extensions) and cornrows. It's the best decision i have ever made.
Hats off to you hun, I agree. I haven’t went to the salon in years. Nobody knows and loves your hair like you do, to a certain extent 🫶🏽 Especially when you’ve been putting that work in, for years 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Question, do you think an older women can still grow her hair out, even if she has a measure of good health n her scalp is healthy. Also if she has a good hair routine, what's your opinion?🤔 How loving you doing your mom's hair, Thanks for sharing 👍🙂
My guy these Salon ladies really be doing the most. I'm ready to call out a hairdresser tomorrow if she starts doing funny business on my head cause ngeke shem🙌🏾
I went back toy younger self....i had no blowdryer but managed my hair well strech it through chunky braid then install the protective hair and my life is easier....no more saloon unless i need a style that i can't install myself and i go there prepared
Confirmed. Once had mine ripped back and forth during a 'blow out' session. Should've seen her face. Looked like she was ready to fight someone. I was too scared to ask.
I haven’t seen a blow dryer in years. And yes some hairstylists choose to not listen nor understand your concerns about how you want them to treat your hair. My last hairdresser literally said that heat damage is a lie🫠you can guess what she was doing as she was saying that 🫠🥲🙃
There is a "natural hair" salon I went to twice in Northriding for cornrows. Pimples on my scalp every single time. I only went a second time to confirm that I am not crazy. The problem is I struggle to part my own lines so that's why I do the salons but the abuse to my scalp is too much Edit: Also I wish they didn't use gels😢
They literally rip your hair off your scalp 😭 I just get up and walk out, I absolutely HATE what they do and I'm still in search of someone who will handle my hair like i would...💔
I love that you don’t tolerate nonsense 👏🏾 at the end of the day it’s your hair and you’re paying. I hope you find someone soon or even someone you could coach through it all ❤️✨
Sisi I am facing heat damage 💔 one side of my hair is extremely damaged and it's shorter because of breakage .A hairstylist used high heat on my hair ,yes I applied heat protectent but the temperature of the heat was too high it destroyed my hair. My hair is thin and see through at the ends . I have stopped using heat it's been 7 months now and my roots are thickening ..I am still going to cut off those disgusting split ends
Also guys lets be real, you can't expect to pay R50 for a good wash and good detangling. There are a few good places in Joburg and they do charge more. I live in Cape Town and the natural hair salons' prices here are way out of my budget, so I've started doing my own hair. I was dealing with a dry and itchy scalp and from research, I decided to use apple cider vinegar instead of shampoo. I applied moisturizer to my wet hair and sealed with Amla oil and wow, my hair is still moisturized. I think this is the way. I've also stopped blowing my hair out for braids, a twist out works fine, and now I just buy my hairpiece and even the combs and call a braider to my place
I have not set foot in a salon since 2004. Yip...Miss me with Salon culture. I've gone through trial and error through the years on my own and, I don't trust hair salons.
Runny moisturisers / leave-in conditioners all can detangle to some extent. Or you can buy actual ‘detanglers’. There’s so many to choose from, and most are quite similar
Been dreading going to the salon for months. Last time i went was june and i legit refused using hairdryer because i don't use it on my own at home. One thing i would advice people is to speak up or at least let it be known before your hairdresser start working 9n your hair.
Doing your own hair is the best investment for your hair health🤞🏽
and self respect.

Thank God I found your page but I don't know how to do my own hair
My hair was ruined by a hairstylist, too.
I'm starting over again.
Same😢.

Same here sis.... N its the best thing ever!
Girl how did you learn parting lines with cornrows... I need help there 😢

Hi Jay here, hope you can reply
About older women growing their hair out🤔
I prefer gentle detangling before braids
I love that 🥰 It’s a game changer

Salons are just filled with a bunch of angry women 😅😅 who are taking their frustrations out on your hair.
Confirmed. Once had mine ripped back and forth during a 'blow out' session. Should've seen her face. Looked like she was ready to fight someone. I was too scared to ask.
That's can be True too just saying ❤❤❤
Some of them don’t have hair or have short hair and are jealous 💀
To be honest I don't have a choice but to go to these salons because I want to be beautiful for December, if only I could do my own hair 😊
You can! It's not impossible.
I hear you, if you’re in South Africa consider going to a natural hair salon, sometimes they are better but 🤷🏽♀️ yeah it’s a tough one.
My problem now is i don't know how to plait my hair 😢
Eish its tough
Me too that's why I just do mini braids 😅😅😅 it's not the most conventional hair though
Last time someone braided my hair was in 2019 after that experience I said thank you very much.....i went again 2021 to blow dry and it was horrific

Same, since about 1997
Oh my word!!! GOALS ❤️❤️❤️
Champion! 🏆 You are such goals, I don’t trust them either. Imagine risking years of hard work 😩
I want to know the name of the product for detangling hair
