His death was a loss still felt in the souls of many of us old farts.... R.I.P. Stevie.

Yes it does. Obviously I don’t know your age but I’m 51. I am VERY fortunate to have seen him twice. The first time was outside of Cleveland Ohio and he opened for Robert Plant and the second was Halloween night in Columbus Ohio and he and Jeff Beck shared top billing. They each played their set then for the finale, they both played a few songs together. I also saw his brother Jimmie at a really small venue in Columbus and got to meet him and get a picture together!

Young man, you never even realized that he switched guitars in the beginning of the song, didn't even miss a note. And he lost a tooth.

This bothered me too. He did one of the hardest things in live music, having gear malfunction, and pulled it off with grace. This guy is way too busy trying to sound cool to realize the brilliance of Stevie!

I actually was privileged enough to see SRV in concert 2 1/2 months before he was killed. It was the best concert I have ever seen; and I’ve seen quite a few. He played guitar with his whole heart and soul, he is greatly missed. May he R.I.P. ❤️❤️❤️

If you don’t know he wrote this song in honor of his good friend and guitar tech Charlie who passed away from a heart attack.

And the guitar was a gift from Charlie right before he died.
I love it when he loses his tooth, looks around for it, and then mouths to his guitar tech, "Lost my tooth!" then "It's gone!".

If you noticed, During the solo where he played with his teeth . He lost a tooth & was looking down for it. Then looked towards his guitar tech you can see Stevie saying " I lost my tooth" . He was a true legend & was taken away way before his time. 🎸🙏

  • @jennhurl
    @jennhurl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

My favorite SRV song ❤ the GOAT honoring his good friend Charlie who owned the guitar store in Dallas, Texas & worked on his guitars. All of SRV'S guitars have names - one is "Charlie". It's a super cool one he built. Of course "Number One" was SRV's love though - his favorite guitar.
I don't know if there's even a word for SRV. We call him the GOAT. Legend. But, I feel like there should be a whole different word for him. Grateful for you taking the time to watch him. ❤✌🎵

I'm not surprised you know about SVR, you being in the music industry and all, plus your old man, not to mention, Chicago ain't no stranger to the blues either. But my man, I've been listening to SVR all my 36+ years and I can tell ya, you're never really ready for Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Love this...raw unadulterated talent!!!! Eyes closed an away Stevie goes....so unique nothing played same twice and BEST live...like Elvis he was definitely a one off an had he not been killed I do believe he’d have been as big for bringing blues/rock to the world, both humble wonderful souls who transcended when performing....and when anyone sees Stevie it’s gobsmacking “WTF”...I guess again how Elvis was first perceived...can u imagine the gap in music had Elvis died just as he got started!!! No legend as we know him, I really think Stevie could’ve been another legend with loads more to offer....life’s so cruel RIP Stevie 🙏🏼❤️🕊

After switching to the 'Charlie' guitar, he has such a perfect ear that he adjusts the strings and the amps throughout the song. If you were to close your eyes, you wouldn't be able to tell where or when the guitar was being played or adjusted. Greatest Of All Time.

Check out his tune Texas Flood if you want your mind blown! When ever you do him, do it live. They don’t mess with Stevie. Dude you will love 70’s music. You right, back in the day when players had to know how to play, (no autotune) Stevie was at the top of the heap. Like Eric Clapton said, when someone heard him for the first time it made them want to go out and buy a guitar and learn how to play, but those of us that have played with him, it makes you want to quit.

    No celebrities.
    Except SRV
Guitar GOAT, but much moreso, sober, helped his brother and his band to get sober, unabashedly Christian without any condescension or judgement.

I got introduced to SRV last year on TH-cam. This song was written for his friend Charley Wirz who was a mentor and helped Stevie in how he designed his guitars and who died of a heart attack. The guitar he used in this video was named Charley after his friend. Stevie is my favorite but I love the man even more because of how he became sober in the fall of 1986 with his bassist Tommy Shannon also his best friend. He helped so many people who suffered from addiction and was a humble gentle servant. God rest his soul.

I've seen so many reactions to this video and many do not pause it once so...and even if that's the reason to pause, every freaking 20 seconds is ridiculous and I'm kinda just starting to get pissed actually

I remember exactly where I was & what I was doing when I heard the tragic news. I was on the Interstate Hwy between Fort Worth & Dallas almost where Arlington is located. The news came on over my truck radio & I DID CRY! I CRIED SO HARD, FOR SO LONG I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE HWY BECAUSE I SERIOUSLY WAS NOT ABLE TO SEE THE ROAD IN FRONT OF ME! I could not control the tears. They just kept falling, forever! I am 63 now in 2021. WHEN I LEAST EXPECT THE TEARS, I STILL FIND MYSELF CRYING, NO END IN SIGHT! TAKEN WAY TOO SOON! WE ALL LOVE YOU. WE MISS YOU DEEPLY, STEVIE! REST IN PEACE! WE WILL MEET AGAIN!

    Wait, WHAT?!? You know Kirk?
Who the hell are you!?!? LOL!
That's amazing. Zep will always be my #1 but my boys Metallica will always be my #1.5. Wow, that's very cool. Tell him to do something about the ticket prices. They've priced me out of the last show, LOL! But for real though

There is a lot for you to find. RUSH, start with RUSH. Ha ha! That should keep you occupied for a while. One of the very best Rock bands ever to do it. Ask anyone. It’s high caliber, highly intelligent, bad ass musicianship original Rock & Roll that is on it’s own level, not just MY opinion man! They will fuck you up. One of the all time greats. Don’t say I didn’t warn you! The number 2112 will be important in your future. Just saying man. ✌️👊😁

Stevie is a monster guitar player. Saw an interview of Tommy (Bass) & Chris and learned 1) they hardly ever had a set list. 2) He respected all the Blues legends like Johnny Copeland, Albert King & Buddy Guy. They were playing one night at Red Rocks in Colorado. When they arrived B.B. King was on stage playing. Stevie asked about why B.B. was onstage playing. They told him that B.B. was the opening act. To say the least Stevie was upset and said "That is just wrong! No wayB.B. King should ever play as an opening band again. Not much of that kind and humble humanity left today.

Met him once. He grew up in my neighborhood. His niece was my first girlfriend. Crazy inspiring knowing somebody from my area grew up to be the GOAT!!!! But then again, Dennis Rodman is from our area also. Oak Cliff produces some badass legends!
