Why not utilise the open attic space for cable runs & do straight conduit drops down to each socket? It would have saved all the inspection elbows & cutting.
I agree. Would have looked much more aesthetic. As all the cabling was in conduit I would have probably used singles rather than T&E as it would be easier to pull through.
Always make sure you use the right spring is light gauge and heavy gauge according to what gauge tube you are using, otherwise you will end up with a spring you can not use again

Question as opposed to criticism, is mounting consumer units at height still the done thing? My napit assessor said between 1200 and 1400 is the preferred height, but I'm regularly seeing new installs such as this video still mounted high up.
@@paulbarker8850 there are two 4 inch brick piers any vehicle would hit before it got to the CU, I wonder if the client has requested it to be mounted that high, if you want to turn a breaker off you will have to stand on something, in my humble opinion it should be within arms reach.
Would recommend using the brackets supplied with non-corrosives. Keeps the IP rating and also prevents the casing splitting/cracking after temp changes (likely in a garage)
For what it's worth the conduit fittings which you are referring to as inspection bends l believe are more often refered to as inspection elbows. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
Why place the fuse box consumer unit so very high on the wall? Encouraging homeowners to have to muddle about in the dark on stepladder to rest a breaker?? Place it at about 1.8m max!
To stop damaging spring feed the spring draw wire up tru centre of spring so that when you pull it out of conduit it pulls against itself and cant stretch.

Another interesting difference between British and North American wiring... Most places here we're not allowed to put sheathed cable in conduit, it has to be individual wires.
I reckon especially for a garage/workspace going around the top with individual drops down to the sockets would be significantly better. I’m thinking of situations where a socket needs to go away because it’s in the way, as well as possible extra sockets or just different heights that may be needed. Marginally more cable and conduit used, obvs, but a lot more flexibility.
Ruben has made a great job on his first consumer unit install, well-done young man.😉 He would put a lot of so called self proclaimed electricians to shame.😁 I personally liked the overall look of all the conduit work.🙂 Very nice work from the Artisan Group of Lecky's as per usual.👍🏼

@@mrgfromoxford8644 But Lewis makes a fair point; it's not your garage. So long as the customer is happy that's all that matters. What is the issue with installing the conduit horizontally (as opposed to vertically)? I personally believe that vertical conduit drops look "nicer" (though beauty is in the eye of the beholder), though there are practical benefits to installing the conduit horizontally. If the garage will be fitted with a workbench, the owner may also want overbench shelves. Vertical conduit drops limit the type of shelving you can install. Whether that is an issue for the customer is another question... Also, what is the issue with the fuseboard height? Sure you may need a step ladder to reset a breaker in the board (or be faily tall with long limbs), but is that really a big deal? The board is well out of harms way, and given the board is installed at high level it allows the owners to more effectively use the space below the board. The owner's could (for example) install a shelf with a notch cut out in the shelf to accomodate the vertical conduit run.
