Nice idea & they look great. A couple of ideas… Concrete will retain water & rust pole so maybe worth drilling out the bottom of the planters & up into the centre of the pole. I usually dip the base of poles in isoflex or other rubber sealant for longevity against corrosion. Rather than use tape, get your hubby to hold them in place while they dry next time lol
Love this pole idea and the outcome so awesome! 🤩 We mounted our 40” tv using the ZeboZAP to our gazebo post without drilling, 😍 loving our outdoor living now. 😎
Home Depot black fencing pipe is perfect for all of this stuff and I think even less expensive than the closet rod used here ... also lots of pieces that attach to the for attaching string lighting to.
I like your style! Direct without a lot of rambling. Clear explanation and excellent video editing. Thanks for sharing this is a great project that I can do in a weekend. You earned a new sub.
Needed to build a three-sided sun shade for my (3) 17 year old rescued cats. I was able to use 2x4's for three sides around the deck but did not want to anchor an eyebolt into the house. Trying to find a stud under vinyl siding is a bear and I came across your delightful video. I found a tall recycled plastic planter at Home Depot with a decent sized base. I added 100 pounds of Fast-set Concrete anchoring a ground-contact 2x4 and it worked like a champ! Thank you young lady for an exceptional idea and presentation. With respect, your new subscriber.
Throughoult my late teens and early twenties, I had worked t several specialty hardwood lumber yards that catered to real craftsmen. The most talented were the old timers in their 70's & 80's. and a few young progenies. Very few. You are one of those few. It takes either special talent or years of experience. Oh, the stuff you will come up with in your golden years. Shout out to Lee Shields from Orange County, Cal if he's out there. He was the best.
Used top rail for fence then add dry concrete alternate with enough water to activate. Makes poles rigid you can buy short extensions on line to add height to poles
Great idea! My wife has been wanting me to do this for a bit. We have a pergola with lights, but she wants them extended from the deck to the patio. A few neighbors tried this, but it's pretty clear they did not use concrete. The only addition I can think of would be a drill hole at the top of the concrete to allow for rainwater to migrate. Would probably need some filter fabric for the sand, or eliminate the sand?
I was thinking the same thing. I was considering drilling holes at the bottom then adding stones and sand for weight either all the way to the top or high enough before adding potting soil so it can have plants. Idk. What do you think?
@@jquiznos2283 I think the concrete is key to hold the curtain rod in place. multiple holes could be drilled horizontally into the pot, around the pot, at the level of the concrete.
I’ve done something like this for a wedding one time as long as there’s plenty of concrete in the base of your planters it will stay up and not fall over. I’m thinking about doing this project again but using solar string lights
Why did you use toggle bolts? You glued the top, so did you use them so the screw eye hook woouldnt wiggle? Also, dontou have concerns that it may rust? I really like what you made, but I'm concerned they'll rust out in a couple of years at the least convenient moment. Thanks for posting! It was helpful ans inspiring.
Could always spray paint them with a primer/sealer like Rustoleum has in clear. Lowes also has the rods with hooks in them for $35 each that has two different mounting base options. A lot cheaper than this 😂 But, I get the idea.. 😊
@@JudicialMermaid sorry wasn’t criticising, more thinking out loud. Moving to a new house soon and will use this method, as thought the wood post ones were too heavy looking. Love from the UK 🇬🇧
I agree, here in FL, those wouldn’t last even one year before rusting through. I have used 1 3/4 inch PVC pipe which I painted to match my patio decor, and it worked great. I’ve now had them for 3 years and they look as good as the day I made them!
@@jquiznos2283 no it doesn’t. I used the rigid pvc used for plumbing in either 1 3/4 or 2 inch. I use a pipe cap on top to prevent water getting inside.
One gust of wind turned them over? Those pots are pretty, but not functional for that purpose. Personally, I would’ve put a whole bag of concrete in a pot with a wide stable bottom.

Very creative. I like the mailbox also. Well honestly the whole patio area is nice and welcoming.
I AM IN LOVE
Love how these turned out. Great job 👏
Love this idea. I did something similar but used 2x2's. They didn't hold up to the weather. they got all wonky. The closet rods are a good idea!
Excellent channel. Lots of great ideas. Thanks.
😊 I’m going to try this !!! I’ve been buying things for my deck and this would be a great to bring in light and style

Wow ❤❤❤
Genius creation!
Well done!
Beautiful video thanks ❤

"Chain link fence top rail" is similar to closet rod but longer and about three same price
Right now (mid Sept 2024) Menards has 10'6" poles for ~ $15

Looks great!
Where did you get the patio chairs? Love them!!
So fit
Very lovely. Great, great job, ill be doing this soon!
Simplemente espectacular
Where did you purchase the planters? Love this idea.
A treated 4x4 post will rot faster than an untreated closet rod cap?
i would up for shower curtain rods they are cheaper and they are adjustable 1:10
What about pvc pipes? Or do these last less time?

Beautiful
I will try this one!!!
❤ wearing. Mask, gloves, and eye glasses😅.
Very cute idea. But I think bases would need to be much wider and also if they are ceramic the concrete will expand in heat and break them
Where did you get the planters, and would it be possible to lift one on to a scale and see how heavy it is?
I love, not only your talent and ideas but your femininity as well.
They may not rot, but won’t they rust?

Interesting idea.
What type of trees are those that are next to your patio area? The mushroom miniature ones?
Hey, where did you buy those big planters?
That’s genius
What are the lights up lighting your trees?
Rigid pvc rods for the win.
Are the lights solar powered or do you have to plug them in?
What kind of trees are those at the minute 5:43?
I was wondering the same thing. Looks like weeping cherry
Did you add the sand while it was still wet?
Hey, where did you buy the planters?
These are nice but I'm afraid they would tilt during a windy day.
Base not wide enough. Also put the post in first then pour in the concrete then add water
Great Idea, I want this, question where is the Pole's link? Thanks!
She does not reply ..... Don't waste your time, well maybe she will NOW that i am calling her out
You need pots that are more stable. Wider on the bottom.
I couldn't find these poles at Home Depot or anywhere else.
What size planters?
Great job except you put the toggle in backwards 😮
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Welcome to Florence Italy, in my company ❤❤❤❤
Hello turkey..😊
You have screwed the toggles onto the eye bolt going through the wooden cap upside-down completely useless in this position
Ok is someone telling her what to say off camera
Or is she reading a instructions manual
Girl got CAKE!!
Are these plastic planters????
No ma'am, that is NOT how you put those tops on the poles. You use eye bolts not screws and securely tighter washers and nuts.
Looks nice. Done well.
DOES NOT WORK! Bought all of the same products and planter and one gust of wind they fell over and cracked! Waste of time and a lot of money!
lol why are you copying these diy channels that clearly have no idea wtf they are doing

Butt pants make the difference.

That has 0 stability, anybody stumbles upon those poles and your lights are gone.
Need to get some work clothes the yoga look don't really work for construction
Watch your health - dry concrete dust is a killer - always wear a mask and gloves 🙏

it's organic concrete it's safe to eat and breathe it . 😂
