In case anyone cares, the leg/box portion is called a "cradle" and the pucks are called "shuckles". Also, though the finished product is indeed beautiful, you will regret not installing climate bars under the playing surface. Generally, the legs support the cradle and the playing surface floats on three to five pins (depending on the length of the playing surface) that are equidistantly spaced end to end and centered down the length underneath. Each of those pins has a threaded stud on either side side designed to tune the surface. A correctly tuned shuffleboard surface will be concave side to side (about .004") and end to end (about .012"). The climate bars allow you to tune the surface as the table ages or the climate changes, and lets you maintain the proper concavity. Never the less, that project turned out gorgeous!!!
It would be a bit of a pita but I would think they could still install climate pins/bars/adjusters by unfastening the top and pulling it out to cut out openings for the bars and then reinstall everything. Honestly they might be able even do it the lazy way. Their table doesn't seem to have any sort of bottom skirting so they could possibly even simply flip the table over, remove the legs and using a circular saw set to the appropriate depth of the base of the cradle and cut out openings from the cradle plywood bottom without ever separating it from the butcher block top. And then install adjusters in the openings.
Awesome book that gives you step-by-step photos th-cam.com/users/postUgkxTNB_zFBSnTo_O1PqfVUwgi7ityw0JlKt and directions to make every day project. I can see myself making a few of these projects and giving them as housewarming and holiday gifts!
I remember playing shuffleboard with my dad in a little bar in the middle of nowhere many years ago. Both have been gone for over a decade now but I still have those great memories. Thank you for the little piece of nostalgia watching this build has given me. 👍
I haven't played shuffle board in 65 years nor have I even seen one in that time. Back in the 60's it was the most popular game in a game room but the ones we played were more like 16 feet long. You guys did a masterful job, one you can be proud of.
Oh my God - I love you guys individually, but now I MUST HAVE MORE SHARED CONTENT! Seriously awesome project and great experience watching you guys build it together (well, MOSTLY together).
Dude, you are hilarious. Keep up the outstanding work. (The comedy, I mean. It's top tier!) (I mean, the woodworking is obviously brilliant. Keep that up, too.)
Love all of Jason's builds and videos but this one has to be my favorite yet. Final table is beautiful and pretty sweet example of why I need to drop some coin on a Shaper O. Who am I kidding, I was just looking for a good excuse. J gets the award for the funniest carpenter I know....your certificate is in the mail.
Nice work! I work for a shuffleboard company, so it's always fun to watch how other woodworkers design and build their own version. Gotta say, the walnut playfield is stunning!
@@SilasNotCyrus venture is as good as any today, probably better! But nobody makes boards like American did. We've got hundreds here in the Houston area.
Oooh now this is something I’d love to have if I ever got a house!! I want to create a barcade room with a center counter bar and having a shuffle board in that room will be something I dream of often!
Beautiful table! Have often thought about attempting one of these, got a nice bonus room to for it! Have to wait to hit the mega millions though for all that black walnut. No sponsors here to defray costs! 😅
Could you use one of those 45 degree clamps. It holds two corner pieces like a picture frame. Awesome video. I plan to have one made here in the Philippines.
Just got the free trial for Skill Share! Thank you so much! And theShuffleboard table came out great! We always look forward to seeing what you’ve been up to, as well as Keith and Nick. You guys are great!
I watch a lot of videos. And maybe watched 2 many today. But there was a kid with hearing protection that came out of nowhere. Did I imagine that or did I miss something. Beautiful work
Here's another tip for your shop tips videos. For guys who use Shop-Vacs for dust collection - Replace the blower (If it burns out or want more power) with a cheap 120v leaf blower. You have to get one that can work as a leaf vac so it has a round intake to mount on the vac canister with a simple plywood plate. It's way cheaper than buying a new Shop-Vac (Assuming they don't have a good dust collector). $30 is cheaper and more powerful than spending $100+ on a new unit.
I watched Key's first and was laughing the whole way through the "documentary" but I love your style too. You guys work so well together. I bet yall could do a really cool and funny podcast together 🤣
each piece of the 6/4 black walnut is more than my annual budget for wood, but damn, I have always loved the look of oiled black walnut. it is so rich and warm.
Thing looks awesome!! Only thing I might have done differently would have been to have the leather dyed the OD green. I think over time the canvas may get harder and harder to keep clean, even with a good vac. Salt is gonna get embedded and not wanna come out.
Like your show, you make me laugh most of the time and I learn some and get some ideas….you are a woodworker and I am wood butcher so sometimes you are beyond me NOTE: no disrespect to real butchers
Dude your freaking me out I’m sure you know your own machines and you know what your doing but you keep sticking your hands into the planer any way nice work love the channel ✌️😃
I know if looks like that but I have a similar planer and if you’re doing a piece that is nearly the entire width of the planer there’s very little room to put your finger, there’s a pretty tight tolerance between the surface being planed and the upper carriage, which is more so you can’t take too big of a cut, but it effectively stops you from being able to put your finger into the machine.

"Nick and Keith are not those type of friends."
lol
NGL, he had us in the first half.
Made me laugh out loud as well!
I died laughing.
This is without a doubt the most beautiful shuffle board table ever to grace a PNW woodshop. Gorgeous. Too bad you didn't have any help with it!
Beautiful shuffleboard! And you’re hilarious! 😂😂😂
Can’t believe they didn’t help sand 🤣
‘-and I watched!’ -I think Nick might be my spirit animal.

There's still one in my hometown bar. It's definitely at least 20 feet long.
That walnut and green color combo is beautiful
This edit was absolutely hilarious! Fantastic job boys!
lmao. the teamwork involved in that last lag bolt was outstanding. 🤣🤣🤣 beautiful shuffle board table, good work guys.

First the boat and now this! Awesome!
I was all ready to search for the foreman's personal blog too! Was reaching for the keyboard to start typing when you said you were just joking!
skillful, entertaining and hilarious at the same time! Great work. Adding this to my future project list...
Nicely done! That's a great idea to use heartwood and sapwood to distinguish the pucks
CROCODILE DUNDEE REFERENCE! Well played sir!
This is one of the best woodworking videos I’ve ever seen - you’ve inspired me to make my own!!!!
That is art work!!! Even though Art wasn't there😉. Great work again.
Laughing about how the guys are just running around the shop so funny I love it

Excellent job gentlemen, excellent job!
Friggin' gorgeous piece of artwood. Don't have any more gooder praise than that. You and your team really did do a fabulous job.

Stunning. And yes, we all heckin hate sanding.
