You can nickel plate in your garage. Part #1 Cleaning the metal.

In this video, I hope I can convince you to start nickel plating. Follow my tips and try it. It's cheap and easy! Sure, you have to have some sort of DC power supply (but, it can be as simple as a battery). Once you have that covered, the process itself is easy. Let me show you the lessons I have learned.
In part #1, I focus on getting the parts ready for plating. I will make a 2nd video when I do the actual plating of this old wrench.

Hi Brian, I came across your channel re: nickel plating.I haven’t done yet.. just researching the process. I want to nickel plate a lantern font. Do you think the plating will chip/wear off?

Hi! No, I do not think it will chip off. Especially when the metal is super clean! A nice thick plating will not wear through anytime soon! Do it!

How did you use guitar strings? As is or did you strip the nickel?

Hi JA. I unwound the nickel from the core wire. It was a lot of work. I now buy nickel on eBay.
