How to Cook Banana Rhum-A Turon (Simple and Easy Recipe)

  • BANANA RHUM-A TURON is an evolution of the Banana Turon made famous by a restaurateur near the University Belt in the Philippines, inspired by the rhum cocktail that he used to make during his bartending days. Banana Turon is a famous Filipino snack commonly sold along the streets together with other snacks like Banana Cue, Maruya, Lumpiang Togue, etc.
    INGREDIENTS:
    - 10 pcs. Banana Saba
    - Lumpia Wrapper
    - Langka
    - Oil for frying
    SYRUP:
    - 4 tbsp. Margarine or Butter
    - 1/4 cup Langka Strips
    - 2 tbsp. Banana Flavor
    - 1 tsp. Banana Essence
    - 1 tsp. Cinnamon
    - 2 tbsp. Rhum
    - 1/2 cup Pineapple Juice
    - 3/4 cup Brown Sugar
    - 3 tbsp. Toasted Sesame Seeds
    DUSTING:
    - 2 tbsp. Powdered Sugar
    - 2 tbsp. Skim Milk
    - 1 tsp. Cinnamon

    Whats the difference po ni banana essence and banana flavor? Ano po brand ni banana essence gamit nyo po? Ang meron ako dito ksi is banana flavor, different ba ang taste po pag walang banana essence? Tnx u

      The difference between the two is the processing. Extract is generally less processed and has a stronger/more pure flavor compared to essence. Essence is often called an imitation flavoring as its composition includes chemically produced flavors and colors. As such, Banana flavor/extract alone should work just fine for this recipe. 🙂

      I would not suggest yung gin kasi iiba ang lasa nya. It doesn't mix well with the other ingredients. 🙂

    Hi po! Bakit after ko po na mix ung topping po hindi po naging crispy? San po ako nagkamali? Pero sa lasa naman po kuha ko sabi ng son ko at dati syang taga USTE. Thanks po.

      Hello po. It's either 1.) masyadong mainit or malamig ang oil kaya di naluto ng mabuti ang turon or 2.) masyadong matagal na soak yung turon sa syrup. Pagkahalo ay kailangan iserve agad. 🙂
