Barn to Road in TWO WEEKS - Rare 1939 Ford Convertible

- After getting the 1939 Ford Convertible Sedan engine running, it's time to get it running off its own fuel tank. When Matt and Steve first started cranking the flathead over, the stock fuel pump started to shoot out gross old fuel!! First step is to flush out any gross fuel we can, and dump in a bunch of fresh fuel with an inline filter to catch any of the big chunks. Once its running on its own tank, the only logical step is to take Moon for a ride around the yard....with no brakes!!! We can't end the video there, Steve get's to work fixing the brakes so Matt, Steve and Mike can take it for its first maiden voyage down the road!!

the most attractive thing about this channel is that these are three nice guys that are enjoying life. no high pressure malarky here...
True “Reality TV” here!
Started and ran like a Ford flathead V8. Those were amazing engines and that one proves they can even sit for a good while. I hope someone picks it up and enjoys it.,
jack
When you pulled that out of the garage my first thought was parts car. Amazing save.
Us too! We’re still surprised!
Really enjoyed this 1939 Ford convertible. Wow amazing and driven it around town that was funny with the three Stooges. 😂👍
Roach’d to running. Nice save!
PLEASE PLEASE DO A COMPLETE RESTORATION ON THIS BEAUTIFUL FORD. IT’s now so very very rare. ❤😊
thanks for taking us along
That was memories of the early 1960s with my dad and the car's he dragged home to flip He was a Ford mechanic and is 89 years old. Thanks great video
It’s a time honored tradition!
Thank you Matt , Mike and Steve for the adventure in this awesome short time getting it running car !
It's a keeper, love that you save the FlatHeadsx
always glad to see the old ones come back
Best test drive ever. Close second was the Schroll coupe. So much fun on this video.
Heck of a save fellas !!!!! Great job and very entertaining video to see the progress and drive to the gas station. The motor counts good for sitting 30+ years.
you gotta love the dog-
It's so dope they are saving them old rigs and putting them back out on the road
I love that banjo steering wheel😊
Steve..MVP of ITG...
Steve in the back seat was priceless Sweet ride Guys
Nice save!!
My absolute favorite video that you guys have done in recent memory! It’s great to see an old turd back on the road.
Old Turd is an endearing term for us! Haha. Thanks for watching!
@@IronTrapGarage definitely meant in the most endearing way!
This is the BEST first drive I've personally observed! Good job guys!!!
Wow, thanks!
It's a keeper, ty for taking us along
That was good fun. Thanks for taking us on the first drive!
Lookin good I wish my 39 convert was that close to running
Matt Mike and Steve awesome video! It’s amazing how easy this one was to get running! Thanks for sharing! Kevin
Yea i seen you guys driving thru town..i was like i think thats Iron trap garage guys!
That was fun to watch, good content
Perfect car for Mike. room for wife and kids
How flippin' cool is that? RIGHT? 😮
😎👍Sure was a fun ride along 😆Steve was getting pelted in the back seat, HA HAA! 😅😂 He sure could have used a face shield and a covid mask back there! Ha!😅
Great show, Matt, Steve & Mike!
Thanks for the laughs and fun. 👍
Thanks for watching!
When is Steve allowed to drive a car he just fixed?
What a cool old car. Would be an awesome summertime daily. Just get the seats upholstered , rewire it and drive it.
Amazing how close some of these cars are when the projects lose steam. I just recently got a 56 Chevy with a similar story, the original owner took it apart to restore it and it didn’t get put back together.
Great episode and thanks for sharing the shenanigans with us.
I like the pic at the end of the car with just enough of Steve s head like Kilroy was here. 😂
Haha glad you spotted that!
Thought wrong. Was sure this had Matt keeper. Rust, quad color patina (red, black, white, rust). No trunck and driver/passenger floor. Usual upholstery issues. Started and ran easily. Alot of Steve, a lil of Matt. Brakes, battery, gas, camera, action.
The smile on the first unexpected start. Coupled with the drive in town gas fill-up satisfaction. It is what it is. Good luck passing this one on.
Made my day. Best automotive related channel on TH-cam!!!!
Thanks for watching!
The Motley Crew out for a little drive in to town from the shop. The town is checking everything out. Definitely! Matt you must personally the police chief and crew. Great little car just a little rough around the edges.
Even got a windshield 👍
The convertible sedan, as an “everyday driver” was a magnificent design. Ford knocked it out of the park when they produced those models.
It is a great day when work and fun can come together for a change. Moon helped with the test drive, so he should have gotten to come along for the street run!
You can't beat an old ford!!!
Brings back so many memories from years past
Another very interesting 🤔 video. What a great find guys. Thanks 👍 for sharing.
Boy you guys have some cool cars there! Love the garage! Great job that beauty is worth restoring! Looks great for being a barn find!👌😎👍
Central California watching
Great work!
Back in 1971 my brother bought a 39 😂Ford deluxe coupe it had a Oldsmobile rocket 88 engine I think it was kind of the precursor to the 327. it wasn't really big but it wasn't small anyway it had three deuces on top and a 3-speed b&m behind. What a hot rod.
Very fun experience watching yall get it rolling. Nice job.
Matt you need to hold on to this one for a while!
Awesome car! Good job! 👏
Love the car
Parecen nlños que acaban de recibir su juguete para navidad andando en ese Ford 39, todos tenemos un niño dentro de nosotros.Well done folks !
You guys are having too much fun.
Three cute crazy people being happy on top of a beautiful piece of junk. I send you a big hug and blessings to all from Buenos Aires Argentina 😂😂😂
You guys are living the dream, congratulations on getting the old girl running, wish you all the best from me in the UK 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Wow, that was fun. Thanks for the ride along, only thing missing was debris in the face. Putting them back on the road one at a time. (Very cool)
nice find
WOW amazing job. Great video. 👍👍
That was funny and so real....pressure washer may help when you get back...U need to buy Steve lunch after this...sooo funny
Thanks Mike for bringing the camera! Picture quality is very good.

Afternoon Matt & Steve! Y'all really lucked out on this car, don't know what your plans are, but it would be nice to put the car back together as is....then put it up for sale!! Y'all be safe!!!
Saved another one! 👍Hopefully whoever buys it does it justice.
Only just found your channel and subbed . Fantastic. Thank you for saving that wonderful old flathead . I am in the UK but I just love those old American V8s . Over here I drive an old V6 Granada. I love it and love all the attention it gets . Great channel . I look forward to watching more of your great content . Have a great Christmas guys .
Nothing like a flat head,😊
Brakes are next on mine. And Tredle-vac master cylinders aint cheap.
What a great rescue! I'd drive it! 😎
Trashcan 🗑 Approved
Great rescue and great color scheme on the car.
good thing on restoring her! its sad people don't care about history, but this is probably the best car you ever restored. belong into a museum!
Hardly restored. Revived maybe.. lol
Thanks guys ,great video, really enjoyed it keep it up .
With Steve sitting back there it looks like y’all are out driving Miss Daisy
Matt's smile says it all😂
mild chop, carson-style top, and bubble skirts.
Well Matt it may have been a couple of years since I have watched one of your videos
I was so happy to see moon going so well though he looks a bit bigger
Maybe too many treats from the mail ins
He is looking happy
Good to see you doing so well 👍👍🇦🇺
Really like that as a DD. Wish I had a spot.
I've been to many an auction across the street from the circle k.
what a great looking convertible -
Very enjoyable video!
Was that not the best looking car on the road when they drove through town? The wsw tires add a nice touch. BTW - I've never had a worn out, dried up throw out bearing quiet down. Once they start announcing their presence, the clock is ticking.
Yea sadly it might need a new bearing but at least that’s a affordable fix!
Good stuff. You three look like the cat that ate the canary.😊
Awesome video
WOW!
Unreal!
Needs a set of Hollywood mufflers.
Nice shape easy starting 👌 don't forget to check the motor and tyranny mounts fun ride 😊❤
Moon is insanely brave.
What a MAGIC CAR....AWESOME
You just need John Travolta and crew to do the Grease Lightning skit 😂
Hi guys! A very good save! And a very funny video!😂😂😂
You should get the big fork lift running, it would be perfect for getting cars up to pressure wash them and keep the crap out of the shop.
It wants to be a hot rod!
No messing!
Very funny video with all of you 😅😅😅😅😊
Iam glad find channel
About classic cars
Just see how it build
Interested how the brakes on this 1939
I wonder how hard find brakes for
This year car
Taking the test drive downtown, pretty risky Guys. Throw caution to the winds.
🔥🔥🔥
Marvel mystery oil in fuel helps lubricant everything... hopefully you use in these engines
Plus in oil before change. Delo 30 or Valvoline 30 great oil to use
If I had garage, I would be all over that car
Did you try putting the top frame up? Out side of that it's a truly daily driver ready to happen. GREAT JOB GUYS
