    I'm not a photographer but I would call myself a visual artist (painter, graphic designer, tattooer, I'm doing a lot of things) and these tips are actually very helpful for painting portraits as well. (sometimes I have problems with light sources but now I know what looks best and why) thanks very much, it was very informative and I enjoyed learning something new today:)

    Absolutely incredible to watch someone who has perfected their art to this level. You know exactly what effect/result you will achieve beforehand and then proceed to prove the theory which is a testament to your skill. Thoroughly enjoyed watching and subscribed.

    Fantastic follow-up to Lighting for Males. PLEASE - will you do lighting the couple in a future video? That would be soooo helpful. Thank you, Jerry. This kind of quality and honest transparency is so needed in photoeducation! You have the confidence to show the "normal" photo, which makes it clear how subtle it often is to go from zero to hero!

    • @phlotographer
      @phlotographer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      generally as noted by a great Classical photographer Joe Zeltsman, one area where the female can be photographed in a non feminine pose is an elderly person. Also dark clothing can be photographed in the masculine pose on a woman where the body and head is toward the direction of light. JG was just masterfully showing the feminine pose. Females are lucky -- just not a great idea to use a male in a feminine pose.

      Northern if in Oz.

    • @phlotographer
      @phlotographer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      actually if possible a Northern exposure is preferred. Artists from all time have always tried to use a "north light" when creating paintings particularly of the human form. Also, anywhere you can create subtractive lighting which as defined by Leon Kennamer as "the creation of highlight and shadow by blocking light from one side of the face" which was so effectively done by JG.

    Just found you on TH-cam, and I am VERY happy I did. I only recently came out of a coma. To my horror, I have lost 35 years of my past. From 1986 to a year ago is all I can remember. I found your page and thought, YES… found one! The One being the levels you range from that I can watch to get my brain a back on the road from one source... You.
    I cannot go out yet as I have to learn to walk again. After my daily physio instruction from my hospital team, I go into my studio the my wife made for me and spend the day catching up on history and also what is the latest in Photography. None of my 8 Cameras have 1,000 actuations so I have decided to stay wit the gear I have.
