Task flows enable you to chain multiple tasks (such as mapping tasks, data synchronization, data integration, etc.) into a single workflow, ensuring smooth orchestration and improved efficiency.
Key Concepts of Task Flows in IICS:
Task Flow Definition:
A task flow is a sequence of tasks that are executed in a defined order, which can be based on conditions or triggers. It helps automate data integration and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
Types of Tasks in a Task Flow:
Mapping Tasks: These define the logic for extracting, transforming, and loading data.
Command Tasks: These execute shell or command-line operations like scripts or external commands.
Event Wait Tasks: These tasks pause the task flow until a specific event or condition occurs.
Session Tasks: These manage and execute session-level operations for tasks that require external system execution.
Decision Tasks: These are used to evaluate a condition and decide which path the task flow should follow (branching logic).
File Operations Tasks: Tasks for operations such as reading, writing, and moving files.
Task Flow Components:
Tasks: Individual units of work (e.g., mapping, session, or command tasks).
Links: The arrows or connections that specify the execution flow or sequence between tasks.
Conditions: Used to define logical operations (like IF/THEN) to control the flow of execution.
Variables: Used to store values that can be used dynamically during the execution of tasks.
Execution Flow:
You can define sequential or parallel task execution based on dependencies.
Conditions or expressions can be used to direct the execution path of the task flow, based on task success/failure or other criteria.
Monitoring & Error Handling:
Task flows support monitoring, logging, and notification mechanisms for effective tracking and error management.
You can configure alerts and notifications if a task flow fails or if certain conditions are met.
