I love Brick, I’m a sucker for sharp hard boiled dialogue. Kinda wish I had waited for the 4K, but I’m happy with the Blu Ray.😊 One thing I like about Brick is how serious it takes its premise, because a noir story set in a high school could lend itself easily to comedy or parody, but the movie’s self seriousness pairs well with how high school felt as a teenager, and how melodramatic it seems as an adult looking back
Still waiting for mine to arrive, I always grab some from all their sales (can’t beat their sales) I ordered some of the same ones you did. I own Squirm already & I can confirm it’s the same features from the OOP Scream Factory bluray ported over.
I saw Brick 4K on Friday. I was ok but a little slow. Did not know it had a reversible artwork until you mention it. Manchurian Candidate and Sudden Death don't have reversible art either.
Lots of fun there, Ken. Those kino cult tittles a more or less drive-in types or creature feature flicks from the 70s and early 80s. Link is outside of the realm. I saw Squirm way to young and it traumatized me. Kingdom of the Spiders is Shatners best film, imo, and I have a fond memory of it being one of the few movies I watched with both my dad and grandfather. Empire of the Ants is such a blast and i get way more enjoyment out of it than Phase IV. Apart from Collins, there are a few other familiar faces in that...the pretty nurse from Halloween II and the Sergeant from the original tv show CHIPS. I'll suggest another tittle for you to try and grab for a holiday watch: The Silent Partner - great thriller - transfer not the best, but what a flick.
I remember watching Squirm on Mystery Science Theater 3000 back in the day. That was a good episode, and I seem to remember the movie being pretty good too
Baby Blood’s in French but has an English dub where the baby’s voiced by Gary Oldman which is awesome I haven’t seen the French version because of that lol
That Classic Ghosts set sounds interesting. I think I will add it to my wish list. They didn't have enough titles this sale I wanted to meet the free shipping threshold so I will wait until the next sale.
My Kino package arrived yesterday. I finally pulled the trigger and got The Outer Limits seasons 1 & 2, I’ve been wanting to get these for so long. I also got the documentary Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story, and The Killing on 4K from Kino’s While Supplies Last section. 😁
OMG! I saw ‘Kingdom of the Spiders’ and ‘Food of the Gods’ in the theater when I was a kid. Haven’t thought about them in years. Pure ‘Mother Nature goes ape spit’ ‘70s cheese! 😆😆😆
The problem with the Kino sale is their shipping is so high that it's not really worth it for a single disc or two. And they just don't have a lot of titles I really want that I don't already have. Especially when they don't put every title on sale. There are about three Kino titles I want right now, and two of them aren't even on sale and are cheaper at Amazon. At least when Criterion or Arrow does their sales it's every title. It's better to wait for the Barnes and Noble Kino sale when every title is on sale, and you don't have to buy as much to get free shipping.
I picked up: Alien Outlaw (Blu-ray) The Antichrist (Special Edition) aka The Tempter (Blu-ray) Ants (aka It Happened at Lakewood Manor) (Blu-ray) Blackmail (Special Edition) (Blu-ray) The Death Kiss (Blu-ray) DeepStar Six (Special Edition) The Devil Bat (Blu-ray) Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema XIX [Dark City / No Man of Her Own / Beware, My Lovely] (Blu-ray) Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema XX [Captain Carey USA / Appointment with Danger / Make Haste to Live] (Blu-ray) Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema XXI [Cloak and Dagger / Shack Out on 101 / Short Cut to Hell] (Blu-ray) Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema XXII [The Enforcer / The Scarlet Hour / Plunder Road] (Blu-ray) Fletch (Special Edition) (Blu-ray) Fletch Lives (Special Edition) (Blu-ray)
I appreciate Kino for the titles they pick up that no one else would, but i have to be honest i'm pretty disappointed when they announce big titles. Bare minimum and lazy packaging with cheap thin slipcovers
Yes, I still remember her comment in her autobiography: “Me being attacked by paper mache ants” and complaints about the location, wondering around in swamps in Florida and being eaten by insects. Yeah, she really loved that one…😄 Although I gotta admit it has its moments…
Kino Lorber has been kicking ass for the past few years. They surpassed Criterion as the better release house. A lot of their 4Ks are BETTER than Criterion's 2Ks -- such as The Great Escape and 12 Angry Men.
I was all about that KL sale until I saw their ridiculous shipping cost. $9 unless you buy $60 worth. Totally kills the incentive of a "sale." I thought Shout was bad with $6.99 unless you get $50 or more, but it's actually better! That being said.. .... I spent $70 BUT AT THE VERY LEAST, I did get Cujo and Sudden Death on 4k, as well as Date with an Angel, Brain Donors and Suddenly Seeking Susan. I own Brick on DVD from years ago and never really enjoyed it.

Great video, I need to jump on this Kino sale.
30k subs, Ken. Congratulations.
OMG...they keep coming! 🤣
Nice haul 👍

Well done 30K 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Kingdom of the spiders is great. I ordered it along with Play Misty for me and Baby Blood on the Kino Sale.
I picked up 4 movies in sale parasite, Cowboys and aliens, baby blood, and sudden death.
How did Cowboys and Aliens turn out without HDR? I just recently bought the bluray so I wasn't going to go out and buy a slight upgrade.
Kentucky Ken are you going to watch any? Or are they going to be dust collectors?

My Kino average min 10 movies, max 20. I got all the 4k going out of print

Let us know how those kino cult movies are! They look pretty cool!

Yup, Ken, you're already deep in the kino cult line. You need to complete the cult. I did, so now I'm up to 23 or 24.

You forgot the hat
Nice pick up's!! Empire of the Ants is something alright. Joan Collins sure hates that one though lol.

Did you get any movies which are not Horror? There are other Genres
@@iloveblue7920 Brick? lol

That’s not much to spend. It’s pretty standard actually.
Lol, this is totally sad. I don't know what that says about me watching tho.
Another "Brag about what I got for free" video! 🙄
@@johnhollo6881 Obviously since I talked about picking these up in the WW sale, that means I paid for them John.
@@midlevelmedia I know i was just giving you crap. Sorry!
