Mac and Charlie’s relationship is the most wholesome in the entire series. Just two adorable dumbass misfits who’ve been looking out for each other since they were both little kids
I can't lie, the Christmas episode where it ends with both of them throwing rocks at a train and then it shows them doing the same as kids? That ending gets me choked up every time. There's nothing like having a lifelong friend, y'know? :)
SAME it really reminds me of me and my best friend, we have done so much stupid shit throughout the years, we are a lot like Mac and Charlie. We argue the same way, we have similar dumb conversations and ideas, that scene really just reminds me of us when we first met. 😭
2:20 I love how in alot of the earlier seasons and even a couple times in the latest, you can see Rob breaking into a smile but tries to turn it into a "pain grin".
My favorite always sunny trope is when they’re like “oh man we need that thing, we forgot it, that thing wish we had it” and then “would you just drop it with the thing?!?”
I think what I especially find adorable is that nothing changes when Mac comes out to the gang. Charlie doesn't treat him any different and a good example is when they go to the zoo and when they beat up the kids who steal their bike. In fact, the episode he DOES come out Charlie responds with "good for him." It's incredibly sweet.
Uhh macs relationship with everyone on the show changes right before he comes out. They all literally always talk about how they hate mac behind his back for the remainder of the series starting with mac day
@@scourgemeltfaceI feel like they only hate him when he bosses them around, preaches his religious beliefs, his denial, his “identity”, and his unbearable stupidity.
Even though I've seen every episode at least five times only around a month ago I realised the interviewer is the waiter from Guginos..... he likely got fired for hiring Mac and Charlie and had to work in Guginos..... makes the gang not recognising him even funnier because he is that forgettable.
My favorite friendship moment between these two is definitely the christmas episode when it cuts back to the two when they were kids just throwing rocks at trains
As much as I love Frank’s addition to the show, he pretty much replaced Mac as Charlie’s best friend in the later seasons (now that they’re roommates). I kinda miss the dynamic between them because it’s usually “Charlie + Frank” and “Mac + Dennis” nowadays.
I had a dream where I kept growing teeth incredibly fast until my mouth filled up with rows of teeth and my mouth stretched cartoonishly large, over flowing with teeth. Then I started looking in the mirror and uncontrollably started chewing on my teeth
Charlie slaps the hysterical Mac to focus him and calm him down. Then, just as Mac is calming down, Charlie suddenly yells at him out of the blue, "HEY! LOOK AT ME!"...which startles Mac, freezing him just for an instant, providing Charlie with the perfect target...and he slaps his face a second time for no particularly good reason and without missing a beat. I grew up on the Three Stooges, Abbott & Costello and Bugs Bunny, and the IASIP guys are right up there with those masters of physical, slapstick comedy
This is a small thing but I love that Mac just has the *word* “Danzig” on his bedroom wall. Not a poster for the band or a picture of Glenn Danzig, or even the word in the classic font of the logo, just the word. It kind of says a lot about Mac, really 😅😂
Sadly though later on Charlie actually becomes more closer to Dennis than Mac. Granted Mac lives with Dennis and they are co-dependent, however Dennis tends to shift his real emotions onto Charlie in a lot of moments. While Dennis and Charlie do in a way consider Mac a member of the gang, but sadly they don’t like his beliefs, they don’t like that he will backstab them at any opportune moment, and they really don’t like that his identity crisis he’s been having for like 4 seasons now. Honestly I think it would be interesting to see a moment of clarity from Mac on how he views the gang. Mac is nothing more than a scared child, who brought his own misery on himself and he was the sole reason on why he’s that miserable. It’s why I love this show so much, every little detail amounts to something.
Eh I don't pick up on that at all. Dennis has actually gotten more removed from the group in any kind of closeness. Best visual representation is them walking down the hill in the very latest season finale and Dennis is on the outside. Fits the psychotic behavior better. While the rest were a lot closer and showing affection.
I gotta be honest, I feel like Mac is the most developed character on the show. He's fleshed out, isn't used for super-simple comedic moments, and you feel a genuine struggle with who Mac is, and what he's been through. For a show that hypes itself as the lowest of the low, Mac goes a cut above.

Tip of the cap to having the clip where Mac smiles in the background as Charlie does his 8th grade dance. So low key loving and supportive.
