So you haven’t shot the bow but yet you’re criticizing it. Oneida was a very different bow I watched several come apart but you mentioned it in a video never mentioned someone should have said noooo.
Oneida was a different time. It was a time when people shot barebow with fingers. The Oneida could not be derailed. But years on the Oneida design has been left behind. Oneida had target shooters shooting their bows. If Prime Focus is a good idea then why did they not put it on their target line up? The question is will customers demand this product? Customers certainly demanded Oneida's, Customers demanded Bowtech's. The new Bowtech cam tuning demanded. Elites tuning system and rotating modules demanded. So my question is are you going to buy this new design?
As you have mentioned in past videos the American archery industry is more focused on hunting than target. That’s probably why it’s not in their target lineup as is most of the new 2025 compound bows from the major manufacturers.
You hit the nail on the head. It might be better in certain categories, but to sell the design you have to explain WHY it’s better. Saying it’s stiffer and durable is fine but we need numbers and proof by comparison. Bow companies don’t just say “this bow is faster than last year’s bow” they give us numbers to back up the claims. The skepticism should have been squashed by the data before people made up their mind that it’s ugly and they don’t want it. Cool idea but the marketing could have he better.
when I saw this bow the first thing I thought was that if it released in the spring you would not have been able to convince me it was not an April Fool's prank
Think you're being way too harsh. If all bows looked like a PSE and then Mathews suddenly released their design (dead straight riser yet way too much reflex with limbs that point down) everyone would say the same - that is ugly. If Hoyt then suddenly dropped the their risers with the curved band running inside of your hand and risers that look like twisted vines, people would also say - that is ugly. Do mathews and Hoyt work? Yep. Some of the highest loaded bits of gear on planet earth that have to be light are built this way - open wheeler tubs, crash structures in cars, bike frames, race car wishbones, yacht masts, not to mention aeronautical etc etc. Its proven and bulletproof. All that can be argued is aesthetics. From a manufacturing point of view its very smart. 3 chunks of smaller Aluminium bar stock will go into the cnc with nowhere near the wastage and machine time of an entire riser. They run literally no risk of having poxy glued into the carbon sight/cable guard/rest/stabiliser mounts falling out of carbon risers. You say its a negative (having just one model) but of course an advantage is that they'll be able to very cheaply go to 35, 36, 38, 40 with different length rods and the longer they get, the bigger the impact on overall weight saving you'll see as the aluminium components would stay the same. And they don't appear to have even started to take weight out of the limb pocket ends and grips relative to their preceding bows - there could be more weight saving to come once its understood if the new riser sections impact the other 3 sections differently ie the 3 aluminium sections may be way over engineered now. Don't you want to see innovation or companies work out ways to be cost effective so that future bow prices can be kept manageable for the consumer? I'd shoot one any day if it performs. Being that they are going to be unsellable, I'm more than happy to assist by placing a discounted /incentivised order for one ............ just to help you move them.
When I choose a bow, the design and (cool) looks weighs about as much as if the technical specs suits me or not. I have a camless leverbow and I am going to have another one (neither of them Oneida). The one I have I use for 3D archery and the one I am getting is planned to be used for target archery. I also have a Hoyt Defiant 30 compound bow - beautiful bow - and really excellent shooting. Why I like the camless leverbows? Because they are cool, shoots excellent, are beautiful, looks cool, they are nice to draw, they are ingenious - and they looks cool - did I say that? I have long liked Prime bows, but never owned one. I was thinking before to get one - but then they skipped the dual-cams, so now I am probably not going to get one.
Im gonna give a different take .... prime has been suffering since they switch away from the dual cams ... they have the same bow as everyone else but it wasnt better. If anything they werent as good as all this big brands. I dont live in an area that prime is common in but i used to see the occasional dual cam prime bow. Since the switch i havent seen a single prime bow either in the shop/out hunting/ at a shoot. I think prime was loosing market share fast and they felt like they needed a shot in the dark. Love the design or not this bow is the most anyone has discussed prime in years and that will make people try their bows.
The Prime dealer in Australia has not stocked Prime. There would be a handful of Primes in Australia. I brought in a few because they are really nice bows, well made, great finish. Buying them direct was a major issue. It was just to hard for the person handling sales. I dont know if that is still the case. G5 make great products but now hard to source. It would be rare to see a top shooter shooting a Prime. This may be a money issue?
Intricate trellis designs dazzle the eye like those cast car wheels, all of which roll the same circle yet get that must have reaction. Minimalists value the opposite. I think that the Prime’s appearance looks to be a bow “in pieces” at it’s core which is more like a prototype testing phase than a finished “perfected” product. At that assumption it actually hurts the brand to reveal this design phase \ work in progress as a finished product that is always going to be looked at as it’s being taken apart and put back together again.
You are the best, great analogy. If I was a Prime dealer and had to stock this bow I’d be livid, it has zero shelf appeal and will have zero demand. Funny thing is I tried to find critical reviews on TH-cam and until you dropped this video I couldn’t find one. Everyone can have an opinion but this is just a dumb shit idea.
It is really hard when new bows come out to know if it will be a winner or not. As a shop owner you have to think are you going to invest in this new product.
@@ArcherySuppliesLonsdale if I had to say what kind of person this bow is for it is for the person looking for the lightest longer ATA bow they can get. Like for instance if you pick up the Mach 33 it is significantly lighter and better balanced in the hand. So I would say it is a in the United States western hunters dream.
The only carbon bow i would like is the win&win black shadow 36 d. And now they stopped making it. 🤯 I got the 34 and its cool, but i wanted the 36 as well.
When I saw it, I thought „cool, a bow you can compress for travel and then extend when you want to shoot it“. Sadly, that’s not the case, even if the design suggests it. I‘d never buy it because 95% of my decision goes to how it looks nowadays. That’s why I shoot a Mathews Title 38, even though it’s expensive and needs a lot of expensive tools and parts to get fitted / tuned to you. Prime sadly missed the looks department completely for me.
For me the biggest dissapointment is that it uses draw length modules. As far as I know this bow has no quality of life improvements that other brands now offers. It's just a standard but weird looking bow.
You can't make something lighter without changing materials or losing stiffness. Second moment of area is critical. Prime is starting to use carbon and aluminum intentionally and not exclusively. And I'm excited to see what they make of it.
Actually years ago the alloy bows were light. We made bows heavier to reduce noise and vibration. High Country had some very light bows in their line up. The old PSE decree was very light and fast.
Yes they were light. And they weren't as stiff as modern bows. You can't ignore second moment of area. That's like saying cars were always fuel efficient because they used to be smaller, all while ignoring the technological developments that actually increased efficiency. Risers flex and twist. Prime bows are stiffer than anything else on the market. To get comparable stiffness at a lower weight you'll need to get creative. Most lightweight bows have a good amount of riser flex, and you can measure it easily with a laser and a draw board.
I think the bow is cool looking. I think it's different and I think if it was a Mathews everybody on the planet into archery would be claiming it's the greatest thing ever
@ArcherySuppliesLonsdale no I didn't buy it, but you just proved my point. It was a Mathews and it was a move away from the solo-cam bows, so it was massively hyped to be the greatest thing ever. It failed because it over promised and under delivered. The Form, being a Prime, is being dismissed before anyone gets their hands on it simply because it's a Prime
Most bow companies buy the others bows and cut them up and fully test them. The other several piece risers, I had no issues with. The Alpine looked amazing. But I did not own one.
I recently got a Prime RVX36, it is all I need. Why would I want this new bow, it is just a bit lighter, but I added weight to my RVX36. I'm guessing, if I had this new Prime, I would be adding more weight to it, so I gain no benefit at all. I could understand if the new bow was 32,34,36 but it is a 34 only!
I think that it's a bad idea designing a riser like that. I've got 3 friends that it on launch day and all said the same thing.. wow, and not in a good way.
This seems like it should be the missing link between aluminum and carbon risers except all carbon risers exist already so this is obsolete already. 15 years ago this might have been a thing.
The PSE Carbon bows sell very well - due to people wanting light bows. the Hoyt Carbon bow sells well to hunters. The Bowtech is outsold by the Alloy risers and the same with the Elite. So overall Carbon is a small % of the market.
It's USD1595. Competitively priced against all the other carbon bows on the market - which BTW also all contain aluminium/metal in basically all the same places the Prime Form does 🤨 The Prime is just a unique approach to achieve the same result.
I agree with Steven 100%...it is an ugly bow that offers zero innovation when there are great bows in the market. PSE, Hoyt and Elite are the way to go...
Sorry but this is a horrible idea. You all of a sudden have 8 contact points 4 upper/ 4 lower that are glued and bonded between aluminium and carbon.Making the integrity of the material much weaker. If the carbon shear from the metal it will end up in your face. Best sample is the carbon sub that fail. Why didn't they just mold a complete carbon bow instead? With metal inserts for the cams...

To me the carbon rods look cheap, I rather see full carbon on the bow.

Prime were in the money with the inline cam. But Hoyt sued them for using the inline cam name .
The revex and RVX core cam is avg

“Emperor got no clothes “ technique!
I think sometimes marketing and engineering types can't see the forest for the trees.

If it can hold together because I'm still skeptical of that. 😂
I will also say at least prime did something different this year all the other companies were just already existing bows with add-ons.
Steven did you even listen why Prime did this, Its a hybrid. Listen to Nate Grace please before you spew garbage.
So your buying a new Prime? You like the idea?
When I seen this creation I thought it’s a Chinese manufacturers attempt at something different. It won’t last last long.
