    Be VERY careful with those exposed lasers. If it's powerful enough to engrave, burn or cut, its definitely powerful enough to cause permanent eye damage. Even the reflections off of say, a shiny plate, can be harmful. Often, these chinese lasers are advertised with very unsafe usage examples and the included goggles etc. are often very lacking.

    • @ihrbekommtmeinenrichtigennamen
      @ihrbekommtmeinenrichtigennamen ปีที่แล้ว +22

      This should be a pinned comment! It's a blue/violet laser, so it doesn't look like much because the eyes are not very sensitive to those wavelengths, but at this power, even just looking at the spot is enough to do damage.

    • @jirowasaur
      @jirowasaur ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Came here to say this. Open laser modules are incredibly dangerous and really shouldn’t be promoted so loosely.

    • @faithnfire4769
      @faithnfire4769 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Yeah this is one of those sketchy products. Amazon page doesn't declare the laser wattage, most of their more recent products come with built in shields (this was the original mass marketable one).
      It's almost certain that the laser is powerful enough to blind, likely well beyond the point of focus. The whole team in the room should have goggles on (actual goggles) when that is connected to power.
      I mean heck, it's not even held down. What happens when it falls over? Get a nice engraving on the cameraman's eye? Pray that the bottom bin safety works?

    • @vidm96
      @vidm96 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@faithnfire4769 Exactly. Or what about the laser reflecting off of a shiny utensil. I get the appeal of these devices, but the way these things are marketed is just incredibly negligent.

    • @faithnfire4769
      @faithnfire4769 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@vidm96 yeah, unfortunately, as cool as lasers are in general it needs to be remembered that these products avoid some of the most important laser safety practices in the goal of marketability.

    You just have to appreciate that not a single device that they used actually worked out properly. They couldn't follow the instructions on the tokit which led to an overmixed batter. The toaster oven burnt the cake and they had to start over. The microwave burnt parts of the mug cake that ended up too eggy and not good. The chocolate 3d printer broke the tower and the star ended up breaking later. The laser etcher contributed absolutely nothing at all to the dish.
    The devices literally just made everything worse.

      @@Fyreflier Well, with a good cake for six personns being around thirty to forty bucks (excellent cakes by Michalak or Grolet are around 50 to 60 euros/dollars), you should get even with two cakes a week. So it's not too expensive in the end. You just have to hone your techniques and read a lot about cakes.

    To be honest, when they first lifted the lid, I thought that was the normal one. I didn't find the initial cake attractive at all. It was a bit of a faffy mess. I mean, yes, the second one was worse, but I wouldn't want to serve either of them if I were entertaining. I'd want something more polished and finished well.
