This movie holds a special place in my heart. I was deeply moved by the Queen's resilience, innocence, vulnerability, and ability to love again after enduring so much pain. This movie ranks in my all-time top twenty .
I didn't realize these two series were about Alex Haley's family. Knowing this makes them all that more important and special. I'm so glad he took the time to research and write these stories for us. They are, in themselves, a tribute to him as well as his family. Thank you for putting this up for us to share. 🎉❤🎉
Yes of course. I love the roots series ❤️ they are trying to remove black history from the schools. It’s up to us to keep the history going so we never forget 🖤
Roots and Queen are both great series, but ya'll do know that Alex Haley was sued for plagiarizing Roots, so I'd have to assume that Queen is also fictitious. Both are beautiful, and if Roots is indeed plagiarized Alex Haley made it a great success. The original author couldn't have made them the classic series that Alex Haley did.
@@janeilsley7702 Giving the characters the names of real people that were actual relatives doesn't mean the entire story is true, otherwise he wouldn't have had to pay the person that sued him for copyright infringement.
This shows why it’s important that if you have mixed race children, you should teach them about their history and background on both sides of their family. If not, they will grow up confused and won’t be able to identify who their family members were/are:
The Desk that James is sitting at writing Queen's Name is similar to the one that The Huxtable Family had on The Cosby Show. In it's own way there was a Home Office before folks acknowledged what it was.
Through extensive research, my cousin recently found out that our great-gr-gr grandmother was a biracial woman who came to the area we live now from NC after the civil war and passed as a white woman. Her mother was a free woman of color. The laws at that time said that the children of such women were to be indentured until they were 12 yrs old and our gr x3 grandmother and her siblings were. It’s been a fascinating history to learn. None of us knew! I think stories like Queen’s, and stories like my foremother’s are more common than we think. Full of tragedy but also a fully American story, with all the good and the bad. I’m glad Alex Haley told this story.
What is "indentured" did she know her Mama and know she was really mixed? I hope she did!! I found out some of my true heritage and race at 30 and it was extremely hard to take and felt as if I didn't even know who I was.I sure hope she knew and didn't have to find out when she was grown.

@skate103 watched this movie when first aired in the 1970s unfortunately it was much worse than depicted in movie born in South Carolina herbal the stories from grandparents, that's why I have cousins, witgreen an blue eyes every afro American, should know their history, it's very unfortunate, an a damn shame what happens so, so long ago, but it is what it is bless us all
The only thing I can sympathize with is knowing that Sally had to deal with the fact that although James "cared" for her he "loved" easter. Also how many women would tolerate raising the child of their husband's mistress.
He did but some of his ignorance was still there. When he was talking about the war and fighting I think he was blind sided though also thinking it was a certain way& if he had some more knowledge he wouldn’t think that way
Two of my favorite legends: Martin Sheen and Ann Margaret ♥️♥️Also Halle Berry and Jasmine Guy brought their acting chops and life experience to this miniseries with their mixed race backgrounds and experiences♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
My mother made sure I watched this and roots when I was younger. I’m from Louisiana they don’t teach much black history in our schools and it’s actually gotten worse. I’ve been looking for this movie for a few months because I just introduce roots to my 12 year old son and I wanted him to see this one too.
It's sad because the grandmother loved Queen. You can tell how she always was soft with her. It's also terrible that so many Black Americans in this country are related to our country's forefathers as well. Smh what a sordid history. He ate grandma up with the "I lost two brothers in this war, I don't care how you live. Or if you live!"
I hadn't even heard of this wonderful miniseries! I'm so glad I found it here. What a poignant piece of history that must never be lost! The white woman praying to God to end the war that would eventually set people free is wild!
I have been looking for historical movies/series/mini series more than I usually tend to (i love anything historical or a fictional but general story of times) I esp love ones that came out during the 70s,80s and 90s, as many I randomly watched as a kid. I am sure I saw this as a kid but a lot what I saw probably went over my head in a way. As a adult, knowing way more than I did at 5 years old, I am very glad to have watched this with older eyes.
The real Jane Jackson died at 8 months of age. In fact of the 5 daughters born to Queens father only one besides Queen lived to adulthood. The others died before the age of 10. That’s why you should never take a movie at face value.
They should’ve had the character Jane be named Nora since that’s probably the daughter that grew up with queen since they were both the same age (even though Nora survived well into the 1930s. The character Jane could’ve been inspired by both Nora and the other daughters that died in childhood
Parson Dick talked about Jungle Drums and that was used for Kunta Kinte aka Toby played by John Amos to escape but he chose not to. He stayed on William Reynolds's Plantation and saw his Daughter Kizzy sold off at 16. What Cap'n Jack is doing by today's standards is Emotional Banking, you did me dirty and I will use it over you for the rest of your life.
This was so well done. Now I will have to reread Roots again. Many Good plantation owners & many, evil ones too. No one should've been owned but it still today, you don't hear about it but I assure you it is in some countries. I was born in North but lived under South most of my life. I've seen what no one should see. I'm proud of my age, living in USA. I'm proud of being free, proud of being white & I'm very proud of being very human. We All Bleed
There were no good plantation owners they were all ruthless slave owners n ers that type of mindset is also evil, 2 think there were good slavers, what's wrong wit a person, that, made that statement, terrible,
There was no such thing as a good slave master. If so, he/she would've freed them and paid them a wage for the work they did. I'm proud to be black, I'm free, and racism still exist to this day. Ppl hate, what they don't understand. ✊🏿
Wish they'd make a movie about all the Union soldiers who lost everything to fight in the Civil War. My ggg grandfather lost his farm, horses and had to supply his own gun and most of his uniform. His wife, my ggg grandmother, was attacked in her home by renegade soldiers when they came to steal her food and horses.
I don't know what it is about this movie but I got a weird urge to go purchase a folding chair and figure out how to make a time machine I'm not sure where I'm going with this but if anybody else is down we ride at dawn

It’s been a fascinating history to learn. None of us knew! I think stories like Queen’s, and stories like my foremother’s are more common than we think. Full of tragedy but also a fully American story, with all the good and the bad. I’m glad Alex Haley wrote this.
Always loved this story /mini series

JOHN 3:16 FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.
❤️
😂😂😂
This is a miniseries not church.
@skate103 watched this movie when first aired in the 1970s unfortunately it was much worse than depicted in movie born in South Carolina herbal the stories from grandparents, that's why I have cousins, witgreen an blue eyes every afro American, should know their history, it's very unfortunate, an a damn shame what happens so, so long ago, but it is what it is bless us all
Everyone of every race!
Thank you for the upload, I haven't seen this in years!!
Glad you enjoyed it😁❤️
I just found this movie tonight 12-9-2024 ❤❤❤😊😊😊
The only thing I can sympathize with is knowing that Sally had to deal with the fact that although James "cared" for her he "loved" easter. Also how many women would tolerate raising the child of their husband's mistress.
Wasn't Sally his mother? I thought Lizzie was his wife.
Sally was James junior's mother. Miss lizzy was his wife.
He did but some of his ignorance was still there. When he was talking about the war and fighting I think he was blind sided though also thinking it was a certain way& if he had some more knowledge he wouldn’t think that way
That's the only thing you can sympathise with 😮?
@@dawnmills5567😒 right
I watched this every year since it came out, it’s one of my favorite series
Shout out to you for posting this❤ my your day be filled of love, peace, protection &extra change😊❤
Thank you for watching ‼️🥰❤️
Two of my favorite legends: Martin Sheen and Ann Margaret ♥️♥️Also Halle Berry and Jasmine Guy brought their acting chops and life experience to this miniseries with their mixed race backgrounds and experiences♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
R.I.P To Alex Haley, Still Miss You Always 😢
Thank you for posting. I didn't know about this film/ mini series until I watched your recent vid about "passing". Watching Oct 2024.
Of course 💕❤️
My mother made sure I watched this and roots when I was younger. I’m from Louisiana they don’t teach much black history in our schools and it’s actually gotten worse. I’ve been looking for this movie for a few months because I just introduce roots to my 12 year old son and I wanted him to see this one too.
Yes it’s important that we remember our history ❤️
Same
Slavery ia such an evil thing which is under rated by those who still benefit from it in a different format.
Thank you so much for posting this!!!
You're so welcome!💞
The amount of side eyeing at that table 😅😅😅😅😅😅
I hadn't even heard of this wonderful miniseries! I'm so glad I found it here. What a poignant piece of history that must never be lost! The white woman praying to God to end the war that would eventually set people free is wild!
Queen and Introducing Dorothy Dandridge were Halle Berry's best performances!
Yes both great movies ❤️
I have been looking for historical movies/series/mini series more than I usually tend to (i love anything historical or a fictional but general story of times)
I esp love ones that came out during the 70s,80s and 90s, as many I randomly watched as a kid. I am sure I saw this as a kid but a lot what I saw probably went over my head in a way. As a adult, knowing way more than I did at 5 years old, I am very glad to have watched this with older eyes.
Thank you for posting this!!
“Why Massa come see you every night? He my Pappy”. Raven Simone was awesome as Queen. ✌🏽❤
😂😂😂😂 I screamed at that part, and knew the tea.
Stunning piece of film, the acting is great and the story and timely (historic) setting of importance.
Watching this series just make me appreciate how far we've come❤
The real Jane Jackson died at 8 months of age. In fact of the 5 daughters born to Queens father only one besides Queen lived to adulthood. The others died before the age of 10. That’s why you should never take a movie at face value.
Well one things for certain queen had a son Simon haley who was Alex father
Didn’t it come out Alex made up this crap?
They should’ve had the character Jane be named Nora since that’s probably the daughter that grew up with queen since they were both the same age (even though Nora survived well into the 1930s. The character Jane could’ve been inspired by both Nora and the other daughters that died in childhood
What a brilliant series.we all watched IT WHEN IT CAME OUT.cried and loved it all.I’m in the UK.
I know it’s amazing !!💖
thanks for uploading, this will be my first time seeing queen.
@@NikkiTaylor-k4e they don't make mini series like this anymore. I hope you like it.
Thank you posting this finally a full real movie I wanna see is available Thank you so much
Great Cast, Great Performances By Everyone In This Miniseries
What those poor African American people went through with those so called white christians.
I was obsessed with this series as a child. Feels good to watch it again
When this first aired it was an EVENT in my house.
My dad let me off punishment to watch this.😊
@@RasheedGazziyour dad should have had you standing in the corner balancing with one leg up while you watched this 😂😂
@@Bri-nc8yp I would have too.
Thanks for uploading, my DVD is scratched up.
Of course ☺️❤️
I think it was on roku streaming awhile ago.
Or you can grab it from half price books
Good morning from Portugal !!! Thank you very much for your initiative !!!
Muito obrigado !!!!! Have a nice weekend !!!
Welcome 🤗 and of course ❤️
Thank you so much! 🎉
You are so welcome!☺️❤️
Parson Dick talked about Jungle Drums and that was used for Kunta Kinte aka Toby played by John Amos to escape but he chose not to. He stayed on William Reynolds's Plantation and saw his Daughter Kizzy sold off at 16. What Cap'n Jack is doing by today's standards is Emotional Banking, you did me dirty and I will use it over you for the rest of your life.
Thank you, I finally watched Alex Haley's Queen.
Watching this 2025 ❤❤❤❤ very sad movie 😢
Me

Will Certainly Watch 🌈
Rich man poor man is another classic.
I have never seen this, don't even remember it coming out back then. But I will watch it all now
Thank you for this movies. Being black has never been easier in USA, but they made through it all
What Beautiful Movie 🎬 🎞 🎥 🎦
@catherinehiggins4476 What's beautiful about this movie?
This was so well done. Now I will have to reread Roots again. Many Good plantation owners & many, evil ones too. No one should've been owned but it still today, you don't hear about it but I assure you it is in some countries. I was born in North but lived under South most of my life. I've seen what no one should see. I'm proud of my age, living in USA. I'm proud of being free, proud of being white & I'm very proud of being very human. We All Bleed
We all bleed the same yes ❤️ thanks for watching 🙂
Amen
There was no such thing as a good plantation owner. They were all racists who didn't care about Black people.
I'm sure a movie like that exist in some form or another. Just remember that the Union soldiers were not fighting to end slavery.
You should watch the Free state of Jones, also a true story.
@RasheedGazzi they were fighting to end slavery.
I don't know what it is about this movie but I got a weird urge to go purchase a folding chair and figure out how to make a time machine I'm not sure where I'm going with this but if anybody else is down we ride at dawn
I'll only go back to this time period if i can change my skin color to white and my hair texture to straight and become a very rich person.
Thank you for posting this I first watched roots as a child and had my own kids watch it also. Now I get to hopefully get my kids to watch this also.
2024 Queen still going strong. Love the gift Alex blessed the world with.
