@ I still think Ross was the best the way she portrayed Holiday when she shot up and had Jones’s in the bathroom so many other scenes even as little girl. Wow. And then my fu#*king roommate stole my album. Yes I’m talking 73, I got the album in72 when they stole it. Stole a lot of my LPs and I was too stupid to realize for long time

yeah It was a HARD year at The Oscars that year with Liza wearing out her role in Cabaret nailing that Bob Fosse Choreography. ROSS was excellent her first time acting for sure!!!!!!

Makes me Cry - Because SHE ACTED HER AZZ OFF and deserved everything - The only Movie NOBODY had ever tried to remake

You're right a remake of this movie was never made, but a more true to fact movie about Billi Holiday was made starring Andra Day released in 2021 called "The United States vs. Billi Holiday". Lady Sings the Blues was full of misinformation and down right untruths about her life. Although it was good movie, it did not tell the truth about the real Billi Holiday. If you are a true fan, check out the movie made with Andra Day, you will be impressed trust me.

I am 76, and I took my first steps as a toddler trying to reach up and touch a Billie Holiday acetate record that my dad, who was a big fan of hers was playing on a very old record player. I read the book this movie was based on and saw it at the theatre during its initial release in 1972... FOUR times before it left the theatre. I have voraciously collected every book, VHS, DVD, read, watched, and listened to everything I could get my hands on about her... and I am STILL fascinated with her life, talent, music and legend!

Love this Movie! So much so I did a research paper on it for Mass Media in America. We all dame well know Diana Ross should have won the Academy Award for her outstanding performance. She is amazing still going strong ! Recently was at the Resorts in A.C. she will always fill the seats. Maybe people should stsrt listening to her beautiful songs instead of the political nonsense that has caused so much conflict among each other. Reach out and touch somebodies hand make this a better world if you can.

Louis Mckay was a pimp and an informant that tried to take down Billie Holiday, the movie was great at highlighting the Chemistry between Billy Dee and Diana Ross, HOWEVER! The movie really glosses over how entrenched and Dark Holiday's life really was... Her mother abandon her and pimped her out to other men in brothels and though the movie makes it seem clean and sanitized it really wasn't hence why we got the lee daniels version. The ending of this movie leaves her on the high note but doesn't try to touch the tragic outcome of her death or the fact that Louis Mckay stuck her for every penny she had when she died.

This is one of my favorite movies! Diana Ross’s best movie. She should’ve won. I read Berry Gordy aggressively campaigning ruined it for her and Liza won for Cabaret which is another one of my favorites and it’s reminiscent of what we’re living through now I fear. 💔🥹🙏🏾Anyway great movie. ❤️
