- Every year the @grampiantransportmuseum2024 celebrates endangered vehicles with a show called How Many Left.
It's a bit of a funny story behind the event, it started life back in 2015 after the museum got a message from an Austin Allegro owner who wondered if it would be possible to show off his car. I was working there as the Marketing & Events organiser at the time, and along with the rest of the management it was decided to decline the offer...instead, we decided to launch a new event celebrating the everyday classics. It's all too easy to go to a car show packed full of supercars, the kind of thing many of us will only ever aspire to own. But we decided to celebrate the cars many of our parents will have owned and driven us around in, but are rarely ever seen.
Sit back and enjoy the highlights of one of my favourite car shows, one I was asked to help transport a car too. Who could possibly say no to a day out like that?

I used to have an Opel Monza GSE and I think there are about 25 left now🙁

the GSE was a powerfull model ,wasn´t it ? i had a reckord and a ascona ,1600 doble carburators the ascona was a 76 the reckord a 1982 with 2.0L engine and carburators, the seats were very similar to the ones i had on a w114 220D from Mercedes in 74, had to buy the Ascona the 220D had only almost 60 h.p.
in the 90´s in my cave i had a billiard and snooker table also had a hi-fi system ,but one day a guy was fixing next to a coffe house i used to go fixing a jukebox in a arcade games next to a highschool and the law says ,any house with paid electronic games and pinballs had to be 500 meters from any type of school ,this one was just cross the road ,maybe 20 meters or less next to the biggest highschool in my town but to what it matters, a modern jukebox with cds ,great sound and a list of endless music to pay and play and that´s how i solved the "can i put this cassette or record" "can you play this..." problem , 50cents a song but 50 cents of a escudo before the €, if 1€ was 200 escudos just do the math was next to nothing ,i just pointed the modern jukebox, after a lot of drinking and smoking any would put 50 cents to hear it´s favorite song and had a light system even more flashy than the old machines, than i married again and it ended for the next 6 years when again out of another marriage, but i stoped the 6th is to keep and already 20 years of ...i was going to say hapiness but who am i fooling just pratical and i knew her when she was 12 ,she was a nice litle girl after 17 years how would i ever had thought that this litle girl was to be my wife, but i stoped living too fast and this is a incredible inteligent and good looking woman and i didn´t thought of it ,she came to me and i might go anywhere else has i never thought of it and she´ll be here with my sons , daughters , grandsons and money to manage all, i trade houses in 2016 only 8 years ago, almost everything was in it´s place(after 4 years of work) but nice big place i can put music really loud than walk maybe 200 meters between hallways and stairs also a big backyard and ask if i was making too much noise and she with her pretty face says, no i didn´t notice any noise, i have two listening rooms a common living room, a cinema room and a home office in each i have a complete sound system and also in the garage where 40 cars can fit ,my second colection but i paid next to nothing for each car but some do have a high value today also a room with shelfs all around and all filled with hi-fi components since late 50´s till last year and some boxes on the floor, i´m finally happy and most of my friends are gone so when one appears i feel good and decades of memories to talk about ,and there´s more but enough about moving ,choose a big home and you´ll never feel like other could be better ,this last was very nice but i spent next to a fortune to fix it at my own taste but it took 4 years for all to be ok and more than 150.000€ either than the price of the house built in the 50´s
I drive a 2006 SAAB 9-3 Sportwagen. Can’t be too many left in the US. Was rare to begin with.

i wish there was something like this in the US, i love seeing weird obscure cars still around, been on the lookout for a Isuzu Impulse or Gemini for a while now
Sounds like there's an opportunity for someone to start a US version of How Many Left ;)
Saw a 1970s Gemini van recently. A fairly rare sight in Australia, even when the Gemini was readily available. Few left now as they are approaching 50 years.
Saw a yellow Impulse on the road the other day. There was also a badge-engineered one in the neighborhood I moved from last year. Located in the south of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada.

Great day out all in, weather was good really wide selection of cars and the transport museum is a little gem of a place, always makes a grand effort for the shows through the year

I used to own A 1960 Morgan 4/4 Series 3. Only 58 ever built. Never seen another one and I doubt there are any left.
Seen a couple up here in the north east but you're spot on, can't be many!
@@dayvanadventure 4/4's yes, but not the series 3. The later series 4 and after are more common. Unless you can open the bonnet you can't tell what series it is. The series 3 had a Ford 105E engine. Later cars usually have the 1600 Ford Cortina engine.
I had a jowett javelin and a berkeley t60 and a subaru pick up truck in the 90s i never see another of any of them

@@dayvanadventure i dragged it out of a garden aired up the tyres the berkeley came from the same road i got a 67 sabb 96 from the same guy all mine for 65 quid lol sold the javelin as a running restorations there was a garage with a dot scramble bike and a couple of old speedway bikes and a greeves griffin trial bike there was a lot of stuff in the 80s /90s hidden away and it was super cheap too .
the C6 is one of the best cars ever ,confort and a litle fast and steady, the XM it seemed a spaceship when i first put my hands in one maybe a month after released it was at night when putting the lights on it seemed a cockpit of a spaceship with was a 2.0L engine but later i bought the 3.0 V6 ,but after one putting the lights on and start it and starts to lift of, but stops and doesn´t fly but drives like a boat in the sea (meaning you don´t feel the wheels on the tar )and fast, the toyota MR from the 90´s was a pleasure to drive but i had bought other,the lancia delta integrale and couldn´t buy other new car but it sure desearves a place in the coolest cars to drive, i was 30 years younger and still remenber when i enter for the first time in one and drove it, kind of a litle ferrari

@@dayvanadventure Alegro was a lot sold in Portugal but i think i never saw a sportive version, a uncle of mine left me a austin montego van with the 1.8L engine it felt fast but what a drinker and the steering wheel felt strange
I drive a Citroën ZX 1.6 estate everyday, 1997 model, 300 and plenty thousand km and running very sweetly.

i had to diesel golfs a two seat one and a four door of the MKI ,at the time in my country no one wanted the diesel cars because of a tax paid each 6 monthes but the tax disapeared and diesel was almost ofered and people didn´t want them so i kept cheap all i could find, but ten years later all wanted a diesel car but cheap cars and by that time i had a w114 74 220D in mint condition with full extras, it cost me what today is a bit less than 1.000€ with 4 new tires put there by mercedes where i bought it, went there to buy a w124 and went home with a w114, my mechanic after showing him the car ,told me to sell the tires that i would be making money with it and buy some michelin that were much cheaper, about the endangered species i think i own a few like the ford capri from late 80´s that i only bought it because i had bought very cheap a new looking, all was new fiesta 1.4S from 88 then i saw a ford sierra with the same colour scheme than the capri also exactelly the same colour scheme and had this three fords from late 80´s all with a unique colour scheme but all equal but never found why it were the same in blue metalic half of the bottom body had a grey rubber paint and all sport parts of ford in the three cars ,the fiesta had a longer chassi and larger having large tires ,sportive dash with rpm counter steering wheel also sportive front extra slim lights showing a litle from inside the car as the other two, only the sierra was 1.8 turbo diesel the capri had a strong gasoline engine, as the fiesta a 1.4 engine with dual carburator

I am very surprised to see how many cars are already an endangered species even from the 90s ... But to be honest - although I am living in Germany - that these cars also have disappeared a lot. When seeing the Vauxhall Astra Mk2 GTE ... I haven't seen a lot of the Opel Kadett E GSi over here in the last couple of years. And I can remember back in the 90s everyone wanted to have one. And now all vanished. But our government did also try good to get rid of these cars. Some extra money to buy a new Dacia Sandero or Fiat Panda during Corona, etc... I am very sure some of the car owners of such cars will regret it later when they notice how their old cars have vanished to become a rarity.
I am an owner of a 1983 Audi 80 (B2) which is also already a rarity - but still more than these 200 ... But mostlikely I am the only one appearing with it. Even the more loved Coupés vanished already a lot compared to 10 years ago. As a daily I recently "swapped" a 2020 Fiat Tipo SW to a 2001 Jaguar X-Type - surprisingly I've got the 168th built car from the series production which was even registred by Jaguar Germany as first owner.
Thanks, I really enjoy making then. I find looking back at 90s cars weird too, doesn't feel that long ago that these were our everyday cars.
Every now and again I see an old Nova going around where I live...hadn't seen one for a good few years before that! And here in the UK the scrappage scheme a few years ago really put the nail in the coffin for a few old cars. Breakers weren't even allowed to strip them for spares, straight to the crusher. Criminal!
@@dayvanadventure Same here, we had two big scrappage schemes when a lot of cars were disappearing. And the green party is still fearing that their metropoles are getting filled with forever lasting cars from the 90s with a historic license plate (here it's after 30 years that you can get an historic license plate with the H at the end to get into the cities and don't care about the emission of the car). But well, these cars are so rare, now. So like you're saying it's criminal.
I like the saab 93 wagon.
Must admit, they are nice motors! And definitely getting rarer these days 😪

Number not quite accurate as the no. produced will be world-wide production but the "How Many Left" will most likely be just in UK. I suspect that there are quite a few more still in France.
Correct - it's based on DVLA data obtained by the How Many Left website, but still fairly rare these days
Oh....I thought you meant the Grampians in Victoria.....We get about 500 cars and motorbikes on our All British Day, probably a lot rarer than the cars here. Though you have many different models. My lad has a 2000 Cougar and 97 Probe, RHD of course. When was the last time you've seen either one of them? Keep them old bombs going over there.
A friend of mine had a Cougar of around the same age, pretty sure it's a pile of dust now though!
@@dayvanadventure Yeah, shame really. Though I think there is still a good following in Germany, Poland etc. We dont have a real rust problem down here, like you guys. 😜

there were lot´s of fiat Marea vans in my city ,a friend had one very close to the ground and very hard as it jumped in any part of the road who was a bit higher and irregular but at 200kms/hour it felt stoped, he bought it already like that

Bald wird die Bundesabgasbespaßungsverbotsverordnung (BABVVO) das Fahren von Verbrennern in der Öffentlichkeit außerhalb von nachweislichen Berufspendelfahrten und Transportfahrten schon sehr bald verbieten, da dann Abgasbespaßung ein Verkehrsstraftatbestand sein wird.

@@dayvanadventure air conditioned ,well only recentelly i start to conect mine in the car but have them with a/c since 1990 and mid 60´s, a Mercedes 280SE coupé
