Hey Colin, thanks for this, but: my take is that singles is for elite athletes only. For anyone else the wide size of the court is indefensible. How long will it take for pickleball thought leaders to call for smaller inside boundaries for singles play? Imagine how bad it would be to watch or play tennis singles if the boundaries for doubles were used? Imagine how much fun it would be to play and to watch pickleball singles if inside boundaries made for a narrower singles court? I'm betting the rallies will be longer, and more exciting to watch than the one, two, three pass-first-or-perish contests we see now and few ever take part in in rec play. Is this the reason MLP does not include singles? Me: former tennis player who competed on local level. At 74 I learn and teach pickleball skills in a weekly clinic. I estimate my age-adjusted skill level to be about 5.0.
