Thank you so much! I'm 11 years old and can do lots of moves high up! My first big moves was the butterfly in the air! I'm going to ask my coach to teach me come these moves!
DD Music yes, cotton and polyester are very strong. My sister and I used it for months with no problems, and we are both tall so we do carry more weight because we are taller than average people so it does hold weight.
Please don't use regular cotton sheets. The tricot knit used for silks has a weave that tends to fail vertically instead of horizontally, so if it tears it's less likely to tear all the way across and drop you on your head, more likely to get long holes. Cotton does not have that feature and it more likely to fail catastrophically. Silks are pretty affordable, especially if you're working with a low height.
I love, love, love, your videos. Can you please do a tutorial of how to do the butterfly? It's that one move that is very mental for me and I can't seem to grasp it quite yet and I am so close! Thanks.
Hello! Thank you for these videos. I only had a few lessons, but over the lockdown, I ordered and installed my rig at home and have been practicing basic moves. Your channel has been invaluable!
Can you please do 10 drops (medium skill) I've been invited to audition for a circus and I have to create a routine. Also thanks for making vids it has helped me a lot😊
hey! it's me on a different account :) thanks to your video I got in and travelled around for a while! Now I'm a youth performer in my area so thank you so much!!
Hi Unique Aerialists! I was wondering why my foot locks come out when I do split rolls and how to stop it. Btw you have amazing videos they help me sooooooo much. Almost all of the tricks I know are from you! Keep up the fantastic work!
Hi yay I'm so pleased you find them useful! The most common reason for footlocks coming off when doing splits rolls is due to slack in the silks, try to keep your legs straight and keep pressure on the silks in your feet :)
Thank you so much for all these tutorials. I am fairly new to silks but fortunately (not without the help of your tutorials which I binge watch to memorize new moves, by the way :D) I'm progressing fast. I'd love it if you could do a follow-up on this one, I need new inspiration 😆 And if you ever think of opening up an aerial arts school in Germany (long-shot, I know) I'd be the first to sign up 💪 greetings
I love your videos. Just started doing silks and bought some for my house. They seem to be not as thick as the ones at class and mine stretch more. What kind of fabric do you use?
Thank you so much! Mine are medium stretch silks from Firetoys, I think they were their own brand but I bought them a few years ago so can't remember exactly :)
I bought my silks from amazon here's a link, www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MWBDYXM/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A3DXZBH45DK51Y&psc=1 I found that they where pretty thick if that is what you are looking for
Tip, when doing rolling into splits hold way lower down on the silk with lower hand that way when you turn you can pull the slack toward your body, I have had the foot lock come lose and even off because of the slack.
Hi, I have a link in the description box of all my videos to where I buy my equipment :) most of my equipment from Firetoys, these are the silks I have www.firetoys.co.uk/aerial-circus/aerial-acrobatics/aerial-silks/firetoys-silks.html and it is one piece of fabric :) if you buy anything from Firetoys you can use my code to get a discount uniqueaerialists hope that helps!
What aerial silk move do you think is the easiest? Also I'm not allowed to do aerial silks because my parents are really overprotective cuz when I when young I got hit in the head with a broken tennis racket so I can't do any dangerous stunts 😓
Hi, the X is a tricky one! The full, in depth tutorial along with the common mistakes is here academy.uniqueaerialists.com/courses/beginner-moves-silks/lectures/11986620 :)
Hi! to do a "Splits Roll" how much extra length do you need on the floor for your silks? It seems like you have more than the usual 1 yard extra length on the floor.
@@UniqueAerialists Oh right.. In general, how much extra fabric should you have on the floor? Also, what the name of the song and artist of this video? My daughter loves it.
Hi for the silks to stay low on your leg you need to lean your body down when you do the roll so your back foot will be higher than your hips, hope that helps!
Another great way to get into double dance locks is to go one or two climbs up, wrap each of your ankles twice while holding yourself up, and then do a pull up and bend your knees, then put your feet into the loops or stirrups that appear at the same time. This really helps you get even foot locks, especially if you let your weight sink down into the double wrap before doing your pull up.
Yep, there are a few different types of footlocks, the one I have done in this video is a figure of 8 footlock, the one you're describing is an egg beater footlock :) tutorials for these plus the other types of footlocks are on academy.uniqueaerialists.com/ :)
No that doesn't sound good! Make sure you keep your legs, core etc engaged throughout to prevent dropping into your joints. Without seeing you doing it it's really difficult to advise on what you're doing wrong, show your instructor if you can or if you don't have access to an instructor you could watch a tutorial to learn how to do it :) this is my in depth tutorial for the teardrop including common mistakes academy.uniqueaerialists.com/courses/intermediate-moves-silks/lectures/12142571
I'm 16 and just got my silks and I'm very weak and not very flexible, but I've always wanted to join a circus. Do you think I would be able to or did I start too late :')
Hi yes of course, I know of loads of people who have a career in circus/aerial arts who didn't start until they were adults, as long as you're committed and work hard there should be no reason why you can't follow your dream!
Hi the butterfly is such a deceptively hard move! When you're in the X make sure the cross is on your back not on your butt and the silks aren't too tight in your armpits. Keep legs straight and wide. Pull up first to give yourself some slack then lean back and really push on the silks. Use your core to lift your legs up as you lean back. Hope that helps!
I was so excited to start aerial silks but I can’t now due to covid-19. I found a good silk with rigging equipment on upliftactive.com and I have an 8 foot 8 inch covered outdoor space to rig, along with a mat to go underneath. Is this enough space and should I try to self teach at home?
Hi, yay I'm so jealous of you being able to train at home! 8 foot is high enough to do alot of beginner moves and conditioning exercises. The best way to learn is with an instructor in person, as this isn't possible at the moment the next best way is to join a tutorial site, there are a few available so it's worth doing some research to see what format of tutorials works best for you. I have hundreds of silks tutorials on academy.uniqueaerialists.com which are broken down step by step with slow motion and close up shots to help you see the awkward angles, they have audio and written instruction, and have common mistakes so if you can't quite get a move you will be able to understand what you're doing wrong, and they're split into categories eg beginner, intermediate, advanced, so you know you're doing a level appropriate move. This all replicateshow I teach my students in person. Please, please, please don't attempt to learn aerial silks off any video that's not a tutorial like I described above, there are usually things you can't see on a video that need to be explained that will make learning the move much safer and easier. I hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions :)
It's really common for footlocks to hurt when you're first learning. To reduce it, make sure your footlock is in the correct place (ask your instructor to show you or watch a tutorial, my tutorial for a footlock is here academy.uniqueaerialists.com/courses/locks-and-inverts/lectures/11447094 ) and make sure the silks aren't twisted or bunched up around your foot. Omg watching this is so therapeutic. My body is craving these movements
If you ever decide to start just know it’s actually quite painful and a tough workout for beginners
I just love how the song ends with “we hit the point when it’s over” right when it was over.
These vids are invaluable and my favorites. Thank you!
I've been practicing silks for three months and definitely need more conditioning. Your videos really help!
Conditioning makes everything else so much easier, doesn't it!

We dont have a aariel but I made one out of king sized sheets and most of these moves work. thx for the video u just got another subscriber
Charlotte Rempala love that!
Trev T I used to do that lol but I have aerial silks now
Wait, you can use king sized sheets to hack it??????

BTW, what song is this?

Could you do more double footlock please I really enjoyed this and learned them all
There are loads more double footlock moves on academy.uniqueaerialists.com/ :)

Yay well done! I hope you enjoy silks!
This is good when my silks arrive I am going to learn loads of tricks.
Are you self teaching also!?!? If you are, I am going to warn you that it hurts at first, a lot, But it is so fun!!!

Yes I am self teaching but I might go to classes
Hahaha did some silks today and was trying to remember how to do the butterfly one again xD I’ll have to try again next week
Tip, when doing rolling into splits hold way lower down on the silk with lower hand that way when you turn you can pull the slack toward your body, I have had the foot lock come lose and even off because of the slack.

Hi, a figurehead is the first move I teach :) silks can be really dangerous but with a good instructor the risk is hugely minimised :)
Wow, that’s for sharing these! 😍
Do you have any tips on how to get upside down on the butterfly? I keep trying but I just can’t get it.
Very helpful video 😘
What is the size of silk fabric.?
thank you! The ceiling is 15ft so I think the silks are about 35ft, can't remember exactly :)
Sadly I don't have the right equipment to do ariel silks, but these are so fun to watch! :D
How can you go into the X? I try to cross the silks behind my back, but the ropes were too tight, and I could not cross them.

Ok I’m new to aerial silks are my foot locks supposed to hurt my feet really bad because they hurt really bad
Is there any more drops that you can show in a video
Hi I have videos called Aerial Silks Intermediate Drops and Aerial Silks Knot Drops which show lots of drops :)
Every time I try to go down onto my knee hand I fall any tips?
How did you set up your silks indoors??
What is the song playing in the double footlock video?? Thanks!!
The song is called all the same
What song is this is so good
Can the airplane also be done with eggbeater wraps?
Yes :)
