You cannot put the power banks into long term storage, when the batteries discharge fully there is a run away chemical reaction that destroys them. They have built in discharge protection when in normal use, so are ok to discharge day to day as they shutdown before being fully discharged, but they will discharge slowly naturally in storage. So charge them every 6 - 12months, or they will be dead and useless when you need them.

If times are hard & you are strapped for cash. Maybe you are the D.I.Y. type?
You can buy some knock-off Berkey water filters online 2 for $30. (They are the same filters!)
Buy 2 "food grade" 5 gallon buckets with lids, Double Stack the two. The bottom bucket holds the water .
Get a spicket/spigot Drill necessary holes, Etc. This emergency water filter system will save you and your families lives. It is not as flashy as the other but, works just as good!👍

I would highly recommend a hand crank radio with at least AM and FM frequencies. Three times in the past 10 years we have had wind events, two tornadoes and one derecho where we lost power, and cell phone reception was fine...for anywhere from between two to five days after the event. That is as long as most cell towers have backup power for, and we had no cell reception after that, once for over a week. The only way we were able to get news and information was via the local radio stations. A hand crank flashlight is also a good bit of kit to lay in. Both are part of my emergency kit.

You can clean the filters, but they still fill up with toxins and all the stuff they filter out. They have a limit of use and if you're still using the same ones after 11 years, chances are, they aren't doing much good. My have a distinct different taste within 2 years and I have to change them out.

One thing missed was water storage. I have a number of 10 litre *about 2.5 US GAL) water bottles that look like plastic jerry cans that have shrunk in the wash. The reason I went for this size is that they are easy to carry for most people compared to a full size one. They are enough for drinking water for 2 days in a hot climate if you are taking all measures to keep cool or 1 day if you are physically active. I have two different colours one for filtered but not boiled and another with a tap for water ready to drink. There is also a slower but way cheaper way to filter water if you are going to boil it. A simple funnel plus coffee filter. If you really want you can put activated charcoal in the coffee filter.

You can put a Peltier-type unit on the side of the stove to have a way to recharge devices like radios & such. Since you are burning anyway might as well charge devices too.
I also have several X-Dragon portable solar panels that can be strapped to anything...including backpacks...to charge battery packs on the go if need be.

That is a very well thought out kit, also seems quality. I would buy if I didn’t already have a great kit. You should make an additional video on supplies, tools, gadgets, and shelter and what you recommend. Also, do you dedicate all this stuff to a storage area that people know not to reach from unless it’s an emergency. I have found that sometimes the supplies would get depleted or lost because we would use them for daily functions. Personally, I like to have all our vehicles well equipped and every bag I seal with one of those tear ties. For these kits I have everything I would need to get out, get home, survive for a bit, fix any issues I may encounter on the road, secure any buildings, and help with accidents or day to day issues. Then at home, I have a much more extensive kit that has more of everything which I leave in a shed with the pure purpose of emergency supplies. I have everything I could need in an emergency in that shed, and it could double as a shelter as I built it myself. I never borrow anything from that shed unless it is an emergency. Essentially, I have many duplicates. Under every bed I keep a small backpack with water, a radio, phone charger, gloves etc so that we all know to grab that in an emergency and it has what we need to get out and go to the shed.

I have made sure that my gas tank is always full or almost full on my camper van, if I got nothing else I can idle it and run the inverter in it to charge electrics or even cook there and heat the rear of it. At this point it is almost cheaper to idle and run the batteries than take straight electricity from the plug, it has been up to 80c per KWh.

To add on as a city dweller, Berkey filters are amazing. If you get water from a well, have a house filter but for sure have one of these, in the city, for SURE have one incase of a boil notice.
Second, we have our camping gear separated in different bins to make accessible in a pinch as we live in the South East so storms can knock out power.
I highly recommend a bin for at least cooking. Gas grill, pans dedicated for it, gas, lighters, basically a full camp kitchen in a bin.
That way you KNOW you have what you need.
We have yet to use it for anything other than camping but we are ready for when we need to use it.
You don’t need luxury, just to survive or be rescued.

I would add get to know your neighbors. You need to start building those relationships before things get really bad. Feel out who sees things like you do and who doesnt. Winter is coming and a good test is to go out early with a snow shovel and start clearing out cars and side walks. Take note who comes out, who has the tools needed and doesnt need to borrow a shovel, etc. Those people are your first priority for some BBQ diplomacy. Absolutely critical if you are in a populated area to build up the networks needed to defend and do the work needed. It takes a lot of bodies to man 24/7 360 degree security, let alone having he man hours available for life sustaining work like filtering water, implementing your sanitation plan etc.

Here in the UK they are almost impossible to get now. They used to be common about 50 years ago. So personally I have stocked up on the worlds supply of tea lights and got some tea light lanterns. it needs about 3 to light a room dimly and triple that for enough light to see properly by. The other think you can do is get some mini solar panels and a battery bank that gives out 12V then get yourself some 12V LED spot lights and 12V LED strip lights. 8W is enough to light a room relatively brightly if it is not too big. For keeping heat in you would be astonished how well metalised bubble wrap on the walls works. I have 2 22 yard rolls that are 3 feet wide. enough to do all the outside walls of my living room with some left over.

I liked the video, the simplicity you covered the essentials. But when you referred to that freeze dried food as plenty of protein, I would disagree there, most of it is oatmeal, macaroni and cheese, rice, potato soup, mash potato. Their actual protein bucket is mainly full of beans and a little bit of chicken and beef. Be careful folks ordering the food buckets from patriot supply, read the contents carefully. There is some convenience in those prepared stackable buckets, but that comes at a premium.

tips on My patriot supply, I've been buying from them slowly for two years. Look for the sales that are constantly rotating on their web site. Their big kits tend to have stuff in them that you may not want a lot of like a bunch of rice or oat meal, drink mix. I started off with a couple of kits then realized there was more value in shopping for things that I would specifically like to eat once you get past the intended short term emergency supply thoughts. So I bounce back and forth from their packages to their cans looking for the best prices, you can be a little patient and come across a good sales then stock up on the sale item. LIke right now travelers stew is the lowest I've seen it and chilli mac is at it's normal price but I"ve seen it at half it's been right now.

What? No Kelly Kettle?? I use mine all the time, works great for remote hot water (and to purify water). Get the large stainless one.

Thank you very much for all the information. I have wells and something to remove the gyp is our main goal. We have a lot of pasture so fuel and a very easy way to use it for boiling water is just what we need. We have a lot of pets so very pure water is a must. Our neutered cats need plenty of pure water. It's hard to get them to drink pure water since they like the gyp but it will cause problems with the tomcats with their urine problems. Thank you so much for the information. God bless you and your family and livestock and pets.

Tried to order the Big Berkey stainless steel filter just today, with extra filters. Nope, California won’t allow it. Figures. I have to order the plastic travel model. Freeze dried food beats dehydrated for sure. Thanks for the tips.

Don't forget a 5 gallon toilet bucket, lid, and a toilet kit. Pipes often freeze in the winter and these can be a godsend if you lose bathrooms. Very cheap and I'll never go back now that I have a good kit for emergencies and just for when we go on backroad adventures too.

I would go with a plastic sheet in the tub...some tarps are coated and the coating may contaminate the water.

There are actually water bladders I think if they are called Bob bladders that have a port for filling up from the spigot of the bathtub and another Port that is centrally located on top of the bladder that you use for dispensing and it is completely self-contained and fits neatly in a bathtub and can hold up to 300 or 500 gallons I believe

I have one called a Water Bob. Haven't ever had to use it, but it's there . . . with a small pump included to get water out of the "bob" to use in cooking, drinking, washing, etc.

Love your videos. Been checking in from time to time and your content is great. I'm just a little taken aback by the new style. Not sure if you're trying out for a modern day Village People revival or just enjoying a simple midlife crisis. Keep the great content coming and don't take my words too serious.

Great video.. I've been thinking about getting a Alexapure for a while now my only problem with them is they don't make a Alexapure visible spigot which means aftermarket. I have a Coleman 2 fuel single burner stove but I also have a cheaper volcano stove that preforms very well..

Reviews of products are much better than trying to sell us things for just 1000 dollars when we need that 1000 jus to make it to the next month for normal living so we need an extra 1000 to buy for the just in case that last a month or forever like you say plus the 1000 to live to the next month....liked you better when you weren't trying to sell us products an were reviewing cheap products to get that work, we don't hav thousands to spend for "just in case" like you or we would, you went from look at this cheap product that works to spend a thousand for just in case...just horrible!!!!

Cody if you have the time would you please check on the lifespan specs of your Alexa Pure water filter units. I have built my own from 5 gal food grade buckets and Berkey Black filters. I have been using this setup constantly for maybe five years although I must replace the filters once and a while, ( Berkey recommends every 3000 gals) its a matter of how contaminated and how often you put water through them. The quick and dirty way I check mine is put red food color in the supply bucket and if the filtered bucket shows signs of red I replace them. Running the numbers for my usage ( living single) that they should be good for aprox. 11 years, they arent. You must know that a contaminated filter can wreak havoc if they decide to shed potential poisons, metals, virus all once they react to too much mass and contaminate the container. If you are correct in your claim in using them for years Id like to know to switch over from Berkey's, they are close to $170 a pair I believe.
    Thanks brother.

Yes, battery power is good and keep equipment charged. But I was in a emergency, serious storm hit the area. Power goes out, so does the cell towers. They only last 24 hours on single generator. After that, no service. The only good thing is to get know your neighbors well. If not, ur on your own. Not be hating, love and respect your content. Always a thumbs up!

I know that this will be seen as counter productive to many who came here for advice, but I've got 2 cents to give.
Learn to live off of the land. We did it for hundreds of thousands of years.
As far as medical, LEARN YOUR HERBS! FOOD IS MEDICINE. GET ANTIBIOTICS FROM AN AQUARIUM STORE.
Get some organic turpentine. You'll need it for parasites and in a pinch it can used it dirty water to knock out aquatic parasites in the water

That’s the upside of Texas weather. In the winter we just cut of the AC and pull out an extra blanket I live so far south I have even done a few hard years without a water heater. It wasn’t fun but it is doable down here. Oh an with the wild hog problem there is plenty to eat but that part is not for the city like the video says
