  • Welcome to fishing in Bangkok. In this video we visited Bung-Blar-Buk บึงปลาบึก ฟิชชิ่งปาร์ค. This venue has 4 lakes to fish. The largest of the 4 lakes is the Mekong lake and there are some true monsters in there. Check out the lakes Facebook page to see the photos of the Mekong. The 2nd lake is the carp lake. This is a small square lake but holds a good stock of carp as well as the odd surprise like a red tail or a Pacu. The last 2 lakes are predator lakes for lure.
150B a rod for the Mekong or carp lake. 200B for the predator lake. 10B for a small bag of sliced bread and 100B for a big bag of bread. Drinks are available and they have a small kitchen that will make you up some Thai food. If you don’t have rods and reels you can rent their gear for 300B a day.
From the center of Bangkok by car / highway it took us about 1:30 to get there. Not bad when you consider Bung-Sam-ran will take about an hour from the downtown but remember Bung-Sam-ran will cost you 4000B just for a ticket as a tourist and here its 150B and the Mekong are in the same size range.
This carp lake is one of the only lakes I know of those focuses on carp. Yes, there are many lakes that have carp in them, but they normally hold a mix of fish whereas this lake is predominantly carp. I think it would be a very bad day to fish here and not see several carp come out. Landing nets are free and around the lake but for some reason the landing nets all seem to make their way to the Mekong lake so make sure you fetch one before you start fishing.
Location of the lake (14.3050787, 100.3896406)
Check out Richards Google pages with information about more fishing lakes around Bangkok. www.sites.google.com/view/tha... So, if you’re interested in joining me as I test out some other local Bangkok lakes please like and subscribe.

Thanks for video was interesting to see not many people fishing . I have tried it once for a few hours last year but was not a good idea as it was a Sunday and packed . Had to wait to even get a swim as all occupied. Should have known better to visit a Thai fishing park on a Sunday. Did have some fun on the carp lake while waiting so that was a bonus

totally agree, i try and avoid the weekends m8 it can be a night mare on the Mekong lake. Carp lake is hardly ever full.

@@Fishinginbangkok Yes Sundays to be avoided but unfortunatly the only day we could go as we were traveling down from the north. The bonus though was a great place to stay right on the river and really close to the fishing park

The truth is catching cats in Thailand is not very sporting. First they are simple to catch , the tackle used is unbelievably strong. Many people in Thailand don't understand what sport fishing is
When you try to explain the thrill and difficulty
Of casting a fly at night for seatrout or going
after chub or carp they just look at you as if you have a screw loose . But that is a cultural
    Difference. 👍

when thais go to fishing park, we're there to fight with the 150kg bosses. when we hook on 40-50kg teens, we just want to end the game quickly and send them on their way.

The correct name is bing pla bik which means pla bik is a type of cat fish and bing means fishing lake.

Let’s not kid ourselves the correct spelling would be บึงปลาบึก you can only ever accurately spell any word in Thai using the Thai language. Out of all the ways I have seen westerners / foreigners transliterate Thai in to English I have never seen Lake บึง written as Bing. A much closer transliteration would be Bung. For the ปลา or fish part of the name there is debate over if B or P best represents the ป consonants in Thai language. Both are used but really once you read Thai you will see that English doesn't have a consonant that can accurately represents the ป in Thai language. This is like several other vowels and consonants the Thai language has. The best 3 I can think of would be the ต wrote as a T or D. The ก that is always wrote as K when it’s only a K at the end of the word and often would be better represented as a G and the อ that really can’t be represented as anything in English. So Plar or Blar would both be acceptable. Lastly the end of the name บึก for Mekong catfish a better representation for the purpose of transliteration would be Buk and not Bik. Remembering this is all trying to transliterate Thai into English and while for a limited number of vowels and consonants this can be used with reasonable accuracy for the most part the only way to accurately pronounce Thai is to learn to read and wright the Thai language.

@@Tackle_Boy Thank you. After rereading again I realized I did make a mistake with the explanation so corrected that now. You are Thai? I am guessing from your videos.
