I have been sewing since I was 5 years old. I have done many courses over the years and have an A* GCSE textiles and I am very experienced seamstress and have been exclusively making my own clothing since 2017 for various reasons. I love sewing but I have found pattern drafting difficult in the past, it would never come out how I thought or fit me quite right, I have done adjustments and hacking but the actual drafting I went on a in person course locally to me, and I bought a book too -both were wasted money because it just confused me and the ready made patterns were frustrating me. I would wholeheartedly recommend these courses, they are amazing (I bought the platinum bundle following watching the free course and seeing the knickers course on you tube). Liza shows you why your measurements go in various places on the block which was why made it make sense finally, the lessons are in bite size chunks, finally pattern drafting no longer is my nemesis and is not overwhelming. They are designed to watch a video then do something with what you learned, you are not supposed to just watch them one after the other. The community is great and the comments section is helpful too. Thank you so much, I am also a happy customer. :)
Well done presentation & most enjoyable to watch. Yes learning to draft patterns is a process -- have been working on tweaking the bodice of my block. while I had achieved a good fit overall, once I discovered I had forward shoulders and made that adjustment, the difference in fit was amazing! My sleeves hang well and my bodice no longer wants to pull to one side of my body or back off my shoulders. Also adding enough ease over bust to hips is also important especially when working with woven fabrics. I have found 3 - 3.5 inches at bust and hips to be optimal for me for most clothing pieces (excluding outerwear). I love your approach to sewing and am now looking at your wonderful list of projects (courses). Thank you!
What I need is a lifetime access and only self learning. I can figure out the rest by myself, I just need to not be bound by time. As a student I'm crazy busy most of the year and I need the ability to return to a video in a few months when I can get around to making something else 🙃.
@arkdefo Well yes but the price is a lot as you pay also for the other perks. What I meant was a pure lifetime access, it could be without updating for new versions and all the other things in the platinum. I just don't see myself ever asking questions or other things. I'm OK with just learning everything from videos (that's how I learned all my hobbies including sewing) and troubleshooting by myself. It was just a suggestion, I know there's more to making courses than this.
I’ve taken online pattern drafting class that started with making a moulage to my own measurements. I took the measurements as described (I got help from a friend to improve accuracy). I drafted my personal pattern, then made the muslins, and then: It so completely DID NOT even come close to fitting my body. If I were a bit less round, maybe that approach would have worked, but drawing straight lines between points on a paper is never, ever going to fit my very rounded body. I’m absolutely certain that I’m never going to be able to draft a sloper from my measurements unless I take measurements around my body every vertical inch on my body.
I'm struggling with the audio on the website. The sound is so incredably low. I have my laptop volume cranked to the max, the video volume cranked to the max and am still struggling to hear. It's the same volume as if I have youtube down to about 5 or 10% volume. 2.1 INTRODUCTION TO SEWING MACHINES is an example video that is particarly hard to hear. I love the idea of the courses but am worried I will pay hundreds and be unable to hear them. I can hear this youtube video with zero issues. I don't know if it is a problem with the videos or my device, but I figured I would toss that out there as a data point, in case others are having the same problem.
@@ellieinBG hi there, we just went in and checked the volume ourselves and it fine at our end. The free course has been taken by thousands to date and we have not had any feedback on the volume.
Biggest problem is for me to know which style is the best for me, which pattern, which material. And where to get the best fabrics. Sewing is the less one.

@@teruldacz all our Platinum courses are lifetime and as self learning as you wish it to be. It gives the biggest flexibility we have found.

@@nikkireynolds9514 we can’t speak for other pattern drafting classes but our students tend to get their “a-ha” moment when the fit, fits.
I can’t see the link for the free course as I really want to be sure on what I’m looking for
