If Niji just changed the venue of the concert to a smaller location and let people know would have been better than what they did and they may have had to also put out some compensation but in pr it would have cost them less
I genuinely hope that Nijisanji fans enjoy Anime Expo. It's a large (industry centered, but large none-the-less) anime convention. Particularly for those who might be stuck with tickets, or worse, stranded here already, before the convention opened. (o7 to that one Japanese bro.) If I were a Nijisanji fan right now, making lemonade from their lemon of a concert is paramount.
Hi. Love your videos/streams. Found you through TH-cam recommending me your Doki video, watched everything you ever put out on this channel, and quite frankly I haven't yet found a channel that is as great at explaining PR disasters as you are. Sadly can't usually catch your streams live, so it's a VOD life for me. As it stands, I was somewhat worried that you might go the same way a lot of video essayists I enjoyed went, that being video to streaming pipeline. Basically they find that while they can work on long, well edited, well reasoned videos, the return on investment is much lower than just regurgitating your immediate thoughts on stream while getting a ton of superchats. You have my undying respect for using streams to instead give life presentations that are on par with your videos in how informative and well prepared they are. That is not to say that your videos are just as good as your streams. The visual gags alone are definitely worth watching them for. However I don't get as much enjoyment from visual stimulus as most other people seem to be getting, so in most situations simply listening to your streams is enough for me, which is also something I'm very glad for, because you make your content very blind-friendly (I'm not blind, I just benefit from it as well). This also brings me to the question of "why watch videos at x2 speed". I can't say I am speaking for everybody who does that, in fact I am the only person I know who does that (even if recently my roommate started watching things at x1.5 speed), but I hope this will help you see part of that perspective. For me, there are generally 2 reasons to watch the videos fast: the lack of time and the familiarity. Lets stat with time. At the beginning of my relationship with TH-cam I actually barely knew English. I could read at a decent proficiency, and could hear a decent amount of what is said (though not everything), but my cultural knowledge of the language was non-existent. As such, when Minecraft took the world by storm and I somehow found my way to early Yogscast videos, I could barely understand the context behind what they were talking about, but had about 12 hours a day where I could sit in my room and watch videos to gleam more of the context behind their words. It was a blissful time to be alive. Sadly, with the passage of years the time I had for TH-cam diminished just as is expected of a person entering their adulthood. However at that point I was following enough creators to supply me with enough content for all the time I would spend on TH-cam as a child each day. Without the way to increase the amount of time allocated to a day, unwilling to sabotage my sleep schedule, and unable to escape my responsibilities, I had to either miss out on a lot of content from some of my favorite channels... or to find a way to cram more content in the same span of time. Enter x2 speed. Now, instead of having to spend the entire duration of the video to watch the video I could spend half that much and still get a lot of the information contained in it. More over, a lot of creators, especially in the early years of TH-cam, didn't have nearly as good diction/editing to not have giant stretches of time filled with just silence. x2 speed alleviated that problem as well. Heck, even if I didn't have enough videos to fill out my entire day, that just meant (and honestly still means) that I have more time for more important things that entertaining myself. And while there is certain type of content (mainly one focused around music) that doesn't really work with x2 speed, the vast majority of videos posted can be enjoyed just as well at half the time. There is, however, another reason I watch videos at x2 speed. That reason being that I am accustomed to watching videos at x2 speed. Give me a solid and go try to watch something you enjoy at half the speed. What I expect you will feel is slight aversion to how slow everything moves, followed fairly quickly by "eh, I can watch it like this, I guess" after a few minutes of exposure. That is exactly how it feels to go back down to normal speed after spending much of your life watching things at double speed. It's workable, but that initial pang of aversion is enough of a reason not to do it even if you can. To conclude this rather lengthy comment, I want to bring attention to another important part of watching things at x2 speed. That being that you need the skill to actually do it. If you are unaccustomed to the high bitrate at which information is trying to enter your eyes and ears you will obviously lose a lot of it, which then going to sabotage your understanding of the information proceeding it, which, together with the same problem, will cause you to understand even less, which is obviously not something one would enjoy. As such, if you have the inclination to try this, I recommend starting off with a small amount of speed up. VLC player has a 0.05 speed increments, though TH-cams own 0.25 increment is in my opinion small enough to get accustomed to without much stress. In fact you might not even realize you are watching at a higher speed if you just go to x1.25 speed. Try different speeds, see what works for you, and once in awhile you will find that you will want your videos to be faster. Give in, and in no time you will be with us, watching the world go at half the speed than you are used to. Finally, I want to again thank you for being an amazing part of my life. You are opening my eyes to a lot of really interesting things I would not otherwise be aware of. Pls more. XD
I really appreciate you taking the time to articulate your thoughts and feelings so thoroughly. After reading your explanation of watching things in x2 speed, I think the concept of it is less alien to me, so I might actually end up giving it a go.
As another x2 watcher, I agree with the reasons you have given. Additionally, watching things at x2 paradoxically allows me to better absorb them, by being too quick for my ADHD brain to start wandering off. It keeps me engaged with the content I'm consuming. I originally got into speeding content up from audiobooks and podcasts, which also have a x0.05 granularity. For TH-cam though, Enhancer for TH-cam is a great extension that applies many small fixes to annoyances, and also allows down to x0.01 speed-control, and speeding up past 2x (for cramming lectures and stuff). Though it's vod gang exclusive, since watching a stream live will henceforth feel kinda stilted if you make the adaptation. Otherwise, I can highly recommend.
@@StaleReference I second the ADHD part. Some people talk slow and I definitely want to speed the video up to keep myself engaged & not fall asleep. Though I usually only watch in 1.5x speed, lol. If I use 2x, I might either be in an extra hurry or the speaker is extra slow.
Honestly there already was an example of an empty concert experience and that was the Singaporean concert. Expensive af, little people , but at least they didnt cancel it. The remaining fans are happy. The girls talking about their fun experience . It seems they are happy even if people attacked it. What they did in AX was the total opposite. Destroyed trust from the remaining fans that still chose to support the people in Nijisanji. Why will remaining fans buy any more events after this? Even the EN talents have to apologize , because of Niji's decision.
It's like watching a looney tunes character surrounded by a bunch of rakes, and every time you yell to them, "Hey dude! theres a rake watch out!" and they swear at you and say how wrong you are, then they walk into the rake and get whacked in the face, rinse and repeat. The more news that comes out, the more to me that Nijisanji seems like a very inexperienced company. Like, I'm not a manager, but it seems that at every single turn, they screw up, make mistakes, make blunders, and do the exact opposite of smart management. I wonder if the people in charge have some lingering arrogance because they helped create this massive vtuber company, but are also unwilling to admit the foundational mistakes which seem to be hitting them in the face so much. thats like the only explanation I can think of because this is just frankly, a little pathetic now.
You got quite the radio host voice, and your presentations are always great to listen to while working. Always fun to listen to your yapping and powerpoint presentations. Would joke that you are the Vtuber version of Perun.
"optimal environment for an unforgettable experience" could as well mean: "there's going to be barely any people there, so the event's going to feel awkward, therefore it's not an optimal experience". Bam, the word salad states truth, but nobody knows what they actually meant.
Armcha1r, if I may point out, chat's position on screen blocked the top right of content you're presenting most of the time, could you maybe placing chat somewhere else or maybe not show chat at all?
AFAIK, the Niji announcement being all word salad-y and way longer than it should've been, could be because of the Japanese culture, where it's normal, and expected, to beat around the bush, avoiding being direct as much as possible. This is absolutely not a Niji defense, but an observation I consider worthwhile, because it'd show that they _still_ don't have a proper English PR team. I know, they don't seem to have a proper PR team _in general,_ but the announcement really feels like: A Japanese person wrote this for a Japanese audience
Nijisanji just basically killed all possible move that could save them. So the only thing to do now is genuinely just to retreat. Genuinely nijisanji en is finished they cant come back from this
of course Azehara is at home at twitter, they cover mostly right wing vtubers and topics, which is now the main userbase of that website and the reason the website has become unusable. it's ok for normal people to feel out of place there.
Niji need to realize that they aren't in the top 2 agencies anymore. If I'm counting right, they're in the top 5 or even less. 1.Holo 2.Brave Group (mostly vspo) 3. Vshojo 4. 774 inc (Huge in Japan doesn't have any EN branches so far) 5. maybe Niji
