Hey! Awesome cover. Wanted to tell you, there's a 16th-note hammer-on from the B to the C at the end of the intro phrase. You play two C 8th notes; it's actually just a C 8th note and then two 16th-notes, a B and a C. Listen for it in the recording if you don't believe me.
I imagine this song was his arrangement, being one of the few he sang, but what you say is true of all his playing in this band, it's just so constantly, unimaginably apt. Always carrying the song but never rote, always somehow unexpected but exactly perfect.
