I like how the base idea for this figure is the studio series toy on steroids, having the truck cab form the feet and the tanker form the upper body but with a series of panel flips and reverses that completely redefines each and every part until what what was once truck is now completely unrecognizable. Brilliant transformation and a great looking figure over all. Very accurate to the film and the scale of the movie masterpiece line.

@@xFALENOx I stated that the basic idea for the transformation is similar to that of the SS figure. In fact I explained how and why in a fair level of detail. Try rereading it. You may have misinterpreted something.
I think UT Dragoon took some of it's underlying mass shifting concepts from the TF5 voyager Megatron, so the company seems to know when to borrow some good base ideas. I think it's a fairly good strategy, since improving a design is probably easier, and less expensive than designing one from scratch.
@@interstellarskunkworks8283 Exactly. Making something from scratch is not only harder, more expensive, and more time consuming, but is also more likely to result in a product of lower quality. Taking inspiration from or improving on an established concept, however, routinely results in successes like this. So simple yet so effective.
The biggest compliment I can give this thing is that the transformation doesn't look nightmarish, which for such a design, is a miracle.
The people at UniqueToys are geniuses.
I was thinking the same thing. It looks like everything is very sturdy. I'm afraid of grabbing some figures because I don't want them to break.

The way a couple flips of the truck cab turns into the leg had me believing magic.
Sorry no they aren't. They've only succeeded in making the toy 50% of what it was designed on. Bot is brilliant. Truck sucks.
The engineering of this model is absolutely insane.

Unique Toys once again proving that a ridiculously detailed and complex *design* doesn’t necessarily require a ridiculously complex and unfun *transformation* to pull the design off. Alien Attack and FansToys could learn a lot from this. Prototyping your figures properly, playtesting, and most importantly being *creative* with your transformations can go so much further than just 1:1 replicating the onscreen transformation. I can’t wait to get my hands on this and attempt to animate it.
But it doesn't even look like the movie in truck mode. So it's a total fail.
@@sw1000xg i mean who cares about the truck when it only appears for like 5 seconds in the film, the reason people would like this better than the alien attack one is it’s conversion, yeah the truck is very compromised but it much more enjoyable to mess around than the alien attack one.
Tbh Fanstoys is learning from the complexity side but I think xtb is the one who needs to learn from this (I’m look at you menasor trailer, Kup, and streetwise)
@@notsureaboutthat545 because it's like buying iron hide. In G1 or the bay movie versions and the alt mode looks nearly nothing like them. Then praising it for its bot mode. It should be near 100% in both modes otherwise buy a statue instead. Or a threezero figure.
@@sw1000xg I know but most transformers collectors wants things to transform even if they display it on it robot mode. They just have a bit of a fit on a thing that doesn't transform and wouldn't call that a true transformer
Glad to see Unique Toys is coming back, the sorcerers have done it again with this figure. Looking forward for whoever they’ll do next now that they’re (hopefully) back in the 3P scene. A Sentinel Prime or TLK Hound would be nice

@@yourmom9200 they said that about their galvatron too though. I would love to see their take on movie 1 optimus prime. While the black apple figure is awesome I still don't think anyone has nailed it yet. The chest is weird, and if you look the cgi model you'll notice that his legs are actually a lot longer than any figure that we've gotten before. It's a very tricky physique to get right, but if anyone could do it it'd be unique toys designers.
@@beanzthumbz They stated they will move on to other original figures of their own. Unique Toys are no gods or wizards, they can't nail everything they touch and this figure is proof of that because at least in my opinion, the vehicle mode looks pretty bad especially compared to Alien Attack's figure. Sure, the transformation is much more solid but like 60-70% of that vehicle mode is robot kibble tucked to resemble a tanker. I don't think anyone will ever produce a perfect movie 1 Optimus with no sacrifices, it's just not possible in my opinion.
@@yourmom9200 fair enough, the vehicle mode is definitely a let down with this one. Back in the day I would have agreed with you that a perfect optimus is impossible, and I thought that the ROTF leader was as good as it was going to get. But if you compare how far the engineering has come since then, I think somebody will do it some day. IMO, they just need to figure out how to store some of the mass of the legs in the back of the cab to make them longer, and the chest/ torso probably need to be reworked too. But apart from that they've already figured out how it all should work.

Insanely accurate and very well executed. Really hope Unique Toys would do Movie 1 or ROTF Prime. If it manages to capture the proportions just as well as this one, I'd be sure to grab that! They might just be the one to give us a definitive Bayverse Prime. The one from BlackApple was such a missed opportunity.
Completely agree. The chest is weird and the legs aren't long enough. The BA has some really sick ideas with the tyres, and the weapon transformation but I still think unique toys could do better.
Yep. Even the official MPM isn't "perfect" that the people at Hasbro/Takara cannot even think of a way to properly fold Optimus' back panels. Same goes for Ratchet.
Oh god I still remember how awful 2007 and rotf prime looked. Those were two of the worst figures hasbro ever created.
Somehow, this is one of my favorite version of Megatron. Seeing this for the first time on screen thrilled the child within me, sadly he was in a very bad state in that version so there was not much action from it. Nonetheless, still my one of my top favorite.

UT always delivers better & better on each release. They made something so complicated so smart in transformation.
Both modes look absolutely amazing! But the only inaccurate thing with this figure is the transformation. Because in the movie we can see the front section of the truck transform into its upper body. But this design is already so complex and I will say they had done a very excellent job.
Honestly some transformers transform very different each time like optimus so I think it's passable.

Too be honest I think UT knew in advance how nightmarish Alien attack’s attempt at making the cabin work out as the chest and max the better decision to not commit an egregious amount of panel folding and compression for not-so-solid legs with the trailer

That full body flip over is the same move I use on my 7 week old daughter during diaper changes. Really changes the feeling of badassery behind the transformers toys.

After seeing that...as USUAL if it's a product from UT & am proud to say I owned all of UT 3rd party coz I find that they are Transformers fans themselves to be abled to pull this type of transformation off.. UT TAKE MY MONEY!!!!

Even for a sample, this feels like a much more polished product than the AA one. The transformation of the lower part of the bot feels like a Fanstoys Roadking transformation, in a sense.
When I was a kid, my Grandma used to take me to garage sales with her on weekends. Every once in a while she'd let me get something I found that I wanted: a NES game, a book, some random toy...
But my favorite finds were Transformers. The best part about finding them at garage sales was they didn't come with instructions, so I had to figure out for myself how to transform them. Some were small and simple, but some were kinda difficult (for a 6 year old). I even remember getting a gold and silver colored dinosaur toy that I swear was a Transformer - but I never figured out how to do anything with it.
This model.... would have had me crying back then. SO COMPLEX!!!
Highly recommend a figure by this company if you're getting back into Transformers. They're very elaborate, but unlike some similar designs, they're really fun to Transform, and on the durable side, too. I would recommend either "Peru Kill" or "Challenger" as a first time figure. They're a perfect update on that "puzzle-likeness" the best transformer toys have.
Btw, what type of Dinosaur was that figure you couldn't figure out? Sounds like it was a Dinobot.

this is the most close enough to movie when it comes on transforming concept as well as its looks
looking back on it. this form was a sort of Karma for Megatron. he absolutely hated prime for not only ripping his arm off, killing his master, and shooting him in the face.
add insult to injury he had to assume a similar vehicle mode to primes.
Good thought, but I'm 100% confident that Michael Bay just chose it cause it looked cool lol.
The only thing lacking is the paint...it should be brown silver rust...but this is a sample so they may change it in the future

Mind blowing transformation I love it, especially the conversion of the wheels, the sculpting and colour scheme, could be better, best figure in the Unique Toys company so far!

WOW! That is insane! I hope one day to meet the engineers who came up with this stuff to shake their hands, such an impressive display of 3 dimensional architectural engineering!
That way the truck cab origamis into the legs....further proof Unique Toys is the GOAT. The whole transformation looks satisfying and the robot mode has absolutely no trace of obvious kibble. Now that UT is doing "original trilogy" figures, I look forward to seeing who else they'll try their hand at.
The thing that I appreciate the most about these figures is how the panels fold up out of sight in a way that looks like it's actually converting, instead of Hasbro's cheap attempt at hiding the robotic parts. I love how you even made the head two parts while still maintaining Megatron's facial accuracy. The main thing that Hasbro always got wrong.
I would love to see a Sentinel Prime, or the Fallen figure in the future. These designs are top notch quality. 👍

This looks like a way better transformation than mackron! No need for over complex transformation parts and flimsy plastic pieces that wear away anytime you try and transform the figure

I like the Transformer, very imposing and detailed, just not the fact that it's Megatron. As ridiculous as the concept was, Megatron will always be a gun to me.
A gun, for me, is a classic alt mode (helps that I'm a low-key gun enthusiast), but it's too complicated to do nowadays, for multiple reasons (chief among them the US laws). Plus, it's definitely pretty stupid that the leader of the Decepticons turns into a weapon that has to be wielded by another bot (especially _Starscream,_ the treacherous dastard). I'm actually _glad_ that HasTak came to standardize a tank as G1 Megatron's alt mode of choice; it keeps to the spirit of being a weapon of mass destruction unto himself, without having to need another Decepticon to wield him. Personally, though, I'll always have a soft spot for a jet mode Megatron, thanks to both the 2007 movie and Transformers Prime.
In terms of this mode, I'm alright with it, myself. I know a truck is _not_ a typical alt mode for Megs, but I actually think the aesthetic fits his character well
