While the black apple figure is awesome I still don't think anyone has nailed it yet. The chest is weird, and if you look the cgi model you'll notice that his legs are actually a lot longer than any figure that we've gotten before. It's a very tricky physique to get right, but if anyone could do it it'd be unique toys designers.

Unique Toys are no gods or wizards, they can't nail everything they touch and this figure is proof of that because at least in my opinion, the vehicle mode looks pretty bad especially compared to Alien Attack's figure. Sure, the transformation is much more solid but like 60-70% of that vehicle mode is robot kibble tucked to resemble a tanker. I don't think anyone will ever produce a perfect movie 1 Optimus with no sacrifices, it's just not possible in my opinion.

Back in the day I would have agreed with you that a perfect optimus is impossible, and I thought that the ROTF leader was as good as it was going to get. But if you compare how far the engineering has come since then, I think somebody will do it some day. IMO, they just need to figure out how to store some of the mass of the legs in the back of the cab to make them longer, and the chest/ torso probably need to be reworked too. But apart from that they've already figured out how it all should work.
Unique Toys once again proving that a ridiculously detailed and complex *design* doesn’t necessarily require a ridiculously complex and unfun *transformation* to pull the design off. Alien Attack and FansToys could learn a lot from this. Prototyping your figures properly, playtesting, and most importantly being *creative* with your transformations can go so much further than just 1:1 replicating the onscreen transformation. I can’t wait to get my hands on this and attempt to animate it.

Tbh Fanstoys is learning from the complexity side but I think xtb is the one who needs to learn from this (I’m look at you menasor trailer, Kup, and streetwise)

Yep. Even the official MPM isn't "perfect" that the people at Hasbro/Takara cannot even think of a way to properly fold Optimus' back panels. Same goes for Ratchet.
Somehow, this is one of my favorite version of Megatron. Seeing this for the first time on screen thrilled the child within me, sadly he was in a very bad state in that version so there was not much action from it. Nonetheless, still my one of my top favorite.
Both modes look absolutely amazing! But the only inaccurate thing with this figure is the transformation. Because in the movie we can see the front section of the truck transform into its upper body. But this design is already so complex and I will say they had done a very excellent job.

Too be honest I think UT knew in advance how nightmarish Alien attack’s attempt at making the cabin work out as the chest and max the better decision to not commit an egregious amount of panel folding and compression for not-so-solid legs with the trailer

When I was a kid, my Grandma used to take me to garage sales with her on weekends. Every once in a while she'd let me get something I found that I wanted: a NES game, a book, some random toy... But my favorite finds were Transformers. The best part about finding them at garage sales was they didn't come with instructions, so I had to figure out for myself how to transform them. Some were small and simple, but some were kinda difficult (for a 6 year old). I even remember getting a gold and silver colored dinosaur toy that I swear was a Transformer - but I never figured out how to do anything with it. This model.... would have had me crying back then. SO COMPLEX!!!
Highly recommend a figure by this company if you're getting back into Transformers. They're very elaborate, but unlike some similar designs, they're really fun to Transform, and on the durable side, too. I would recommend either "Peru Kill" or "Challenger" as a first time figure. They're a perfect update on that "puzzle-likeness" the best transformer toys have. Btw, what type of Dinosaur was that figure you couldn't figure out? Sounds like it was a Dinobot.

That full body flip over is the same move I use on my 7 week old daughter during diaper changes. Really changes the feeling of badassery behind the transformers toys.

Making the legs out of the cab instead of the arms like the dotm Voyager and alien attack (can't recall right now if the studio series leader did it too), what an absolute stroke of geniues!
Even for a sample, this feels like a much more polished product than the AA one. The transformation of the lower part of the bot feels like a Fanstoys Roadking transformation, in a sense.
That way the truck cab origamis into the legs....further proof Unique Toys is the GOAT. The whole transformation looks satisfying and the robot mode has absolutely no trace of obvious kibble. Now that UT is doing "original trilogy" figures, I look forward to seeing who else they'll try their hand at.
This looks like a way better transformation than mackron! No need for over complex transformation parts and flimsy plastic pieces that wear away anytime you try and transform the figure
When I saw ‘unique toys’ on the title, I thought ‘this should be good, but not surprising” as it is from unique toys. Boy was I wrong, they surprised me again. Genius, just genius.
The time needed for the full transformation is so long, that by the time Megatron had completed changing his form, the war would have been long gone :)
Is great but UT always had the same issue with paint, they don't know how to do good paint job... Scalling is a bit messy too. But I hope they do the ROTF next !
I like the Transformer, very imposing and detailed, just not the fact that it's Megatron. As ridiculous as the concept was, Megatron will always be a gun to me.
A gun, for me, is a classic alt mode (helps that I'm a low-key gun enthusiast), but it's too complicated to do nowadays, for multiple reasons (chief among them the US laws). Plus, it's definitely pretty stupid that the leader of the Decepticons turns into a weapon that has to be wielded by another bot (especially _Starscream,_ the treacherous dastard). I'm actually _glad_ that HasTak came to standardize a tank as G1 Megatron's alt mode of choice; it keeps to the spirit of being a weapon of mass destruction unto himself, without having to need another Decepticon to wield him. Personally, though, I'll always have a soft spot for a jet mode Megatron, thanks to both the 2007 movie and Transformers Prime. In terms of this mode, I'm alright with it, myself. I know a truck is _not_ a typical alt mode for Megs, but I actually think the aesthetic fits his character well
